I don't understand it, after he scored so many goals in pre tournament, you'd think he'd be on the first PP and top line.
That said he's not been at his best as he was in the 4 goal game either.
Its a short tournament, remember Suzuki kinda sucked in this tourney last year, but it didn't take away from a great season in the OHL, and look where he is now.
Good point. A bad short tourney isn’t the end of the world. But I agree, I figured especially Caufeild would be on that top PP.
Some baffling coaching decisions I think though. I heard an announcer at one point say “that’s the first time I’ve seen turcotte and Caufeild line up together.”
These guys already have chemistry from Wisconsin! It makes no sense not to try them together. Meanwhile zegras had 3 assists and was averaging 3-4 minutes a period. It seems like the coach has “his guys” and Caufeild may not be one. Crossing my fingers for him though

Who had Jordan Harris as the first Habs prospect to score a goal in the tourney?
Good to see him pot one!
What are your thoughts on how USA is utilizing Caufeild? Feels to me like he’s not getting much opportunity.

I agree Montreal needs a forward like Anderson. I like the player and the thought of adding him.
Around the NHL, i bet at least half a dozen teams could use him though and if he was on the market, there would be bidding.
At minimum i think it will cost a 2nd rounder (chicagos that will be a high second) and a lower prospect like cole fonstad or something.
I’m not opposed to a trade like that either! Anderson has some skill (though he hasn’t showed it this year) and a bunch of physicality that I think would fit the habs real well

Why is Columbus selling him on the cheap?
They shouldn’t, but after 4 points in 24 games (and last year on his contract), on a Columbus team that doesn’t look playoff bound, weirder trades have happened.
I just think Montreal could use a forward like Anderson, and perhaps Columbus might like Byron’s speed/contract length.
Just a suggestion

We should acquire josh Anderson on the cheap.
We could use a nice power forward.
Byron for Anderson?
-
Would the devils part with Blackwood/hall for say, Price, one of our top prospects (poehling, romanov or brook?) and a second?
Or do they value Blackwood too highly
-
Does anyone else feel it might be time to end the Carey price era?
I would love to see Hall in a habs sweater and wonder in price could help land him

The funny thing is I actually meant to say 9th in the east as well. Messed up my count. Oh well!

For sure
Kotkaniemi looks like he's lost a step this year. Timing just looks off
I remember KK wasn’t good pre-season last year either. I have a feeling he just takes a few games to get going!
I’m not worried, I think the real KK will show up in the reg season

Sure glad I didn't have tickets for this one in my package.
Would have been a shame to attend or, worse, sell them to a friend.
Agreed, I turned the game off during the second to go claw my eyes out, which was far less painful

Terribly unlucky bounce. Poor Primeau

Suzuki and Brook look a bit overwhelmed
Fleury looks good.
Primeau looks great.
Brook can season in the AHL, and it’ll do him real good.
Suzuki keeps getting better as the game goes on.
Completely agree on Fleury/Primeau

I’m personally most excited to see how Suzuki, Brook, Fleury and Drouin look tonight

Lehkonen goaded his old mentor Plekanec into tennis matches and the wily Czech smoked the youngster.
Hahah, isn’t Plek married to a pro tennis player? I remember in the past that was one of the ways plek stayed nimble over the summer. Bet he’s nearly pro level at tennis

As for Laine... he "struggled" last year and still scored 30. Has already scored 30 in 3 straight seasons with 44 in his sophomore season. He's 21 years old. HES A BEAST.
With that said, I dont think Domi is the guy they'd want because Domis looking to get paid as well after next season. Its more likely a poehling or Suzuki going the other way with a D prospect and a 1st rounder or 2nd round depending on the d prospect...
I basically guarantee they’ll need a proven roster player going back. Drouin at the least

Personally I don’t.
For one, although Domi Isn’t the pure goal scorer Laine is, I’d argue he’s actually the better all around player at the moment (the Laine could blossom in the next couple year.
Second, Brook has high potential to be a legit top 4, 30+ point D man.
Third, Laine’s struggles last year are flashing a few warning lights for me. I get that he has superstar potential but he also has enigma potential.

I have no justifiable reason for this, but I'm optimistic about the upcoming season. Fully expect a great season from the Habs this season, 100 points. No specific reason, I'm just more optimistic than I have been in a long time about the Habs. I think it's alright for some people to be maybe unrealistically positive here, because let's be honest, theres a S*** ton of negative Nancy doom and gloom posters.

I’m predicting a very very strong year from Ylonen. People are going to start talking seriously about his top 6 potential

I feel like people might be eatin a lot of crow over the next few years! Habs are on the upswing and MB is at the helm of it. I’ve said it before and i’ll Say it again; There was a point I hated MB. But I’m frankly confused by the inability to see the positives that have come in the last year.
That or I’ll be eatin crow ??♂️

Exactly, Caufeild need to be played a certain way. He’s an offensive finisher, and a damn good one if used correctly. But he won’t do a whole lot for the team outside that.
