  1. I’ve heard rumblings about the habs acquiring Nick Leddy. Left shooting d man who has been known to put up 40+ points. I think his down year last year might have been in part to a low scoring Islanders team.

Leddy would immediately slit into our top 4, likely with Weber as one of our top d men. I think he could return to the 40 point guy in a higher scoring system.

    What would it take?

To be fair, given playoff performance, Lavoie is likely moving up in my rankings when i do my update.

What impact do you put on Lavoie’s age? He’s nearly a full year older than some is he not?

Admittedly I haven’t seen much of him outside the stat sheet. But his age that, coupled with being a man amongst boys makes me worried how he’ll translate to the NHL.

Looking at tall goal scorers (even if it’s not a perfect comparison) Will he cap at Brian Boyle production or be closer to Mantha?

A Sharks/Bruins final would have a lot of drama, but I think I'm gonna cheer for a Battle of the Unlikelies: Blues vs Jerks.

    Jerks 100%

I'd be happy to see either Sharks or Blues make it to the finals. Would be pretty cool to see Jumbo Joe lift the cup too! I'm also a pretty big Hertl fan

  4. After his playoff surge my thoughts on Suzuki are changing a little. I used to hope he’s pan out to be as good as Tatar, but now I’m wondering if he could be better.

what do you guys think his ceiling is? He always struck me equally as a playmaker as a goal scorer.

is something like 30 goals 40 assists realistic at his peak?

I can honestly see him as a double digit goal scorer in the 35 point range from the bottom 6 position, with occasional PP, and top 6 play when injuries hit. I will gladly accept that for 1.4 mill

    I see the same thing

This has a Paul Byron scenario written  all over it, how we got him for 1.4 mill for 2 years, I don't know. What I do know is when bodies start dropping, and he moves up the line up to fill in, he will translate the same performances regardless of line up spot, just like Byron has during his time here. I was very pleased with how Weal played for us, he blew every depth player acquisition away since Paul Byron. Just another guy who needed a solid chance in the right situation to showcase what he can bring to the table. In our case, being built around speed and transition was a peanut butter and jelly type of union for the player and the team, both for Byron and now, Weal.

Good post. Weak isn’t quite the speedster as Byron, but he is a sneaky pickup same as Byron was a few years back.

Something I’ve noticed about liking a player is what you expect of them. If we expect Weal to be a great bottom 6er, we’ll love him. Let’s not expect to much. That’s why people constantly complained about Eller

    Evans and Suzuki

I have a feeling Suzuki becomes a winger in the NHL. Poehling seems more like a guy who sticks the Center landing to me.

Never know though, Suzuki could suppose me, from what I’ve seen of him he seems to have great awareness and hockey IQ

I could take or leave any of those guys.  Armia might get a raise depending ohn what he makes.  Lehkonen hasn't really earned one yet. Even though I like the way he plays a lot. You gotta get points now and then too.

I think your nuts if you don’t like Lehkonen haha.

He might not have crazy point totals, but he’s an absolute dog on the puck, constantly causing turnovers and outworking his opponents. On top of that the guy still did put up 30 points on usually the 3rd or forth line. Love the player personally.

In tampa, you keep the team together and don't overreact to what happens in a small sample size where Hedman was playing hurt (and finally sat) and you were also missing Stralman.

You move out Ryan Callahan to create cap space (and if Bergevin can't get the LHD that he wants, this should be an avenue he explores ala the Armia trade to get a good young forward propsect out of Tampa).... and then Tampa should use the space to replace Stralman on their defence and go after it again.

I think taking Callahan for a year is an excellent idea. What does it take to get Cal Foote?

I won't be surprised if Montreal picks Raphael Lavoie of the Halifax Mooseheads.

considering how he's performed in the playoffs,  I wouldn't be disappointed either. 13 goals, 20 points,  in 10 games. Next closest on his team? 9 points. He could be a late riser.

Edit: Looked further into his stats, only ONE of his 13 goals is a PPG, so this guy has 12 even strength goals. I'm seriously excited to see who we can nab at 15.
