  1. So again, I'm not buying it. Excuse time is over. Excel in the spring 2014, or be branded a playoff bust - and rightly so.

I agree with what you're saying completely. It's definitely time for price to step up. Strong regular season and another step in the playoffs.

I definitely still think Price has it in him. But I think you'd probably still agree that even if he doesn't live up I expectations NOW it doesn't mean he's done for as an elite goalie.

Yes it's time for him to step up now, but maybe he'll hit his groove halfway through the season as he adjusts to waite's coaching style. Just in time for the playoffs ;)

  2. Montreal finished 4th in the league last year with price having a mediocre year. If goalies are always the X-factor what would they have done with him having a stellar year? I think the bottom line is that there isn't one "X-factor", what made the Habs a dominant team last year was, well, the "team." They really bought in last year.

I guess the x-factor is playing the no excuses, everyone is held accountable type of game that they all hopped on board for last year. Because the Habs ALL did it last year.

  3. How long do you guys think morrow will go before anyone signs him? If it got close to the deadline ( even say January) maybe by that time trading desharnais wouldn't look bad on Bergevin. Then we could sign morrow almost like a pre playoff rental player.

I actually don't dislike desharnais, he's just a TERRIBLE fit for the team. Over abundance of centres AND undersized top six. Morrow would bring size and clear room at Center. By to mention he performed pretty good in the playoffs last year.

  4. Crisp, after (to be blunt) what seemed to be the disappointed of the draft, scored a hatrick at today's scrimmage. What is this. Now he's going to main camp. Might have had a big stroke of luck but that's impressive. Hope he impresses again at main camp

  5. What an embarrassment of riches on the back end. At some point in the next two years, a d/f prospect and a first is going to be a blockbuster trade.

    Diaz/Collberg/1st

    For

    James Neal/Hartnell/Ryan/Vanek

Lets hope not vanek or Hartnell in a couple years time. They'll be gettin on the older side

  6. I'm liking all these combos. But deep down we all know Desharnais will get top six and Pacioretty at his side. Lost opportunity of you ask me. Lets hope if he's there and not scoring the staff will give Eller a chance. I honestly believe Eller is one of Montreals best, even though I know a lot of people don't see it.

  7. Like others, though, I got burned by the Gainey Rebuild 1.0 and now take a wait-and-see approach to these projections. But it's hard to be TOO pessimistic given what we've got.

I understand this feeling, it's why I said "this is probably said about every generation of prospects" I remember Higgins komisarek chiphura d'agostini and Plekanec coming up through and feeling similarly, but this time I can't help but feel like it's different.

I feel like we not only have stronger prospects, we have more depth in our system. Not only that, this time around, I feel like we might have the proper staff in place to help these players mature the right way. Cautious optimism this time though!

  8. I suppose what I'm about to say is said with every "generation" I'll say of prospects, before they end up as busts, but does anyone else feel a real sense of optimism about the habs prospects right now? There's just so much depth in the system, especially after the las two drafts. And on top of that a lot of raw talent. Beaulieu Tinordi Hudon Collberg Dietz McCarron De La Rose Lehkonen Fucale Bozon Nygren Bournival Pateryn Thomas, hell even undrafted signings like Fornier. Wow, what a reserve, and I'm sure I missed a boat load.

I can't look at that group and not see a big portion making it to the show, Tinordi and Beaulieu are basically there. Just imagining the team around 2016 or 2017

Might be a bit of fun to speculate the lineup by that time if anyone's bored hahah

  9. Said he had several offers from other teams but Bergevin was the deciding factor for signing here.

Love hearing this . Bergevin seems to have a way with a lot of players. Where'd you hear it?

Briere also said he was super impressed by Bergevin/Therrien
