  1. how do you know those are the lines for the game??

i cant see Julien releasing his lines 2 days before the game, especially with the injuries the team has.

Why would he have both Ward and Ryder, two offensive players, on the 4th line. If those are the lines they dont make sense at all.

These lines would make more sense:

    Hossa-Ribeiro-Zednik

    Bulis-Perreault-Ryder

    Sundstrom-Juneau-Ward

    Dwyer/Dackell-Higgins-Audette

Theres really no need for a guy like Dwyer in the lineup against the Sens. (I dont see any need for Dwyer anyway, for sure he doesnt scare anyone)

    Defense should be

    Markov-Rivet

    Souray-Breezer

    Quintal-Komisarek

Whatever the lineup will be, hopefully a habs Win will be the outcome!

  2. Alright look at last year in the AHL.........

let's switch both players situations at the beginning of last season, Put Ryder on the top line with Gratton and Rita. Put Ward either in the press box or on the fourth line getting probably 5 mins of ice time a game, being very close to being sent to the ECHL.

Ryder finished the season second on the team in points and first in goals (top 10 in the league in points, or maybe it was 12th or 13th), give him those 10-15 games where he either sat out or played a small role and he would have been the league MVP.

So, last season is not a lot to go by.

Anyway, no more arguements about these two, they're both good players and hopefully they both benefit the team!

    :ghg:

p.s: Thanks for the exciting little debate Puck!! haha

  3. It wouldnt make sense to keep 8 D....

They would then have to send down an extra forward and unless its a rook they could lose them to waivers.

I'd say Hainsey goes down and Bouillon will the 7th.

If Bouillon gets send to the minors does he have to clear waivers?

    :ghg:

  4. Im not biased, I actually think the rest of the newfoundlanders in the league are bums (except maybe Jason king), especially Langdon. But a bum or not he's a tough guy and thats what the Habs need, he cant be any worse then Dwyer.

As for Ryder i think that he has proven that he's just as good or better then Ward and now is his time to be an NHLer. Ryder has been way better then Ward in the preseason, but if Ward steps it up in the regular season and out plays Ryder then thats fine with me.

I just want the best for the habs and right now unless Ward steps up Ryder will help the team more, nothing biased about that.

    :ghg:

  5. Ryder belongs here....

him and Perreault seem to have a good connection, and along with Bulis this line has some good potential if Perreault can play like he did 2 years ago when he was our best forward.

But this is Montreal so i wonder what is really gonna happen with Ryder, it'll be interesting to see.

Cant wait to see the opener against the Sens.

    :ghg:

  6. Ryder should definitely be on the Habs team. The team needs offense and he can provide it (dazzling goal against the wild), while providing Physical play as well (flattens Bambardir against wild). it would be sad to see this guy ride the bench or play in the AHL in favor of bums like Dackell and Audette. Since training camp began he has done nothing but show he belongs on the team.

unless they make a trade for someone else Ryder should be one of the habs top two right Wingers.

I said it last year and i'll say it again, Ryder is just as good or better then Ward. (nothing against Ward, hes a good player too)

What do the rest of you think??

    :ghg:

  7. My prediction:

    1.Ottawa

    2.NewJersey

    3.Tampa

    4.Philly

    5.Boston

    6.Rangers

    7.MONTREAL

    8.Islanders

Hey it could happen! Maybe the habs will be the Cinderella team of the league this year.

Jose wins MVP, Zednik finishes top 5 in goals scored, Souray becomes a Norris Candidate, Koivu runner up for MVP, Juneau get the nominated for the Selke, Julien Jack Adams nominee and Ryder get the Calder!.....haha its nice to dream.

  8. I haven't heard much or seen much of Begin. Where will he be placed on the depth chart? ahead of Ryder and Higgins or below?

i hope he's not ahead of either.

Langdon is something we needed, now we wont have to watch Dwyer get beat to the ice every fight.

The Habs desperately need to get rid of Juneau and Dackell, there a waste of money and they're taking away the chance for some of our young guys to make an impact.

    my lines would be:

    Bulis-koivu-Ward

    Hossa-Ribeiro-Zednik

    Sundstrom-Perreault-Ryder

Langdon-Kilger-Audette(Wouldnt hurt to get rid of this guy either)

But seeing Koivu and Kilger might not be ready to start i would have:

    Hossa-Ribeiro-Zednik

    Sundstrom-Perreault-Ryder

    Bulis-Higgins-Ward

    Langdon-Begin-Audette

    :ghg:

  9. Bouillon may be small, but the guy has a lot of heart, he gives 110% everytime hes on the ice and even though he's smaller then almost everyone that he goes into the corner with he never backs down.

But I would still rather for komi to play. We have to face it, montreal is going nowhere this season and Bob Gainey will do little to improve the team this year. He'll likely let the Young guys like Hossa, Ribs, Ward, Ryder, komi, Hainsey and maybe even higgins later in the year play a lot and see how they develop and see what he has for next year.

When the Collective Bargenning Agreement is finally settled Gainey will go to work and Start the new Era of Montreal Canadiens Hockey.

    :hlogo:

    :ghg:

  10. I'd definitely trade Perreault for Primeau, but im not sure about giving up on Garon.

This could hurt the team in the long run. If Theo had to go down with an injury by having Garon The Habs will still have a great goalie. I'd wait and see how Michaud turns out before i started to think about trading Garon.

    :ghg:

  11. EVERYONE, except for Plekanec and Garon sucked!

This game was bad to watch. The Habs lienup was full of Rookies and in my my mind neither proved that they should stick. But anyway i guess they just all had a bad game.

Carpentier got pound, typical habs tough guy..

We need an enforcer bad.. Souray is the tough guy now but i wouldnt want to see him fight often, cant afford to lose him to another injury.

The offense if also looking bad, our leading scorer has three points. (Ryder and Ribs)

    :ghg:

  12. Is there any truth to this?

I'd take him anyday as well, he's huge and would be just what the habs need. Even if he doesnt put up huge numbers like he did one time just think about the room he could create for wingers like Zed, Bulis, Hossa...etc. Also with him in the corners and behind the nets it would stoop the risk of injuries from some of the small wingers who are in there trying to do the same thing.

One thing i know, Montreal needs some size up the middle and i think this deal would work.

    :ghg:

  13. Players left at Camp:

    Goalies: Theo, Garon, Damphousse

D: Quintal, Komi, Hainsey, Dykhuis, Souray, Breezer, Bouillon, Rivet, Traverse, Markov.

Forward:Higgins, Perreault, Carpentier, Koivu, Ward, Zednik, Dackell, Kilger, Dagenais, Blouin, Dwyer, Plekanec, Sundstrom, Bulis, Perezhogin, Juneau, Gratton, Ribeiro, Ryder, Hossa, Audette, Ferland.

    I think thats it.

Obviously Damphousse will be cut, and as for forwards i'd say Carpentier, Dagenais, Ferland, Perezhogin, Plekanec, and Gratton are gonna be cut for sure. As for the rest of the guys they'll have to fight it out.

On D, Souray, Quintal, Rivet, Markov, and Breezer (as long as he's ll around) are gonna be playing so that leaves one spot open. Komi will probably get the position, and Dykhuis will stick around as the 7th.

I cant see them keeping Hainsey up as the 7th d-man, theyd rather for him to be playing.

    :ghg:

  14. how do you Ribeiro bashers expect anything more then 10 or 15 points from him in the regular season the past few years?

He always seemed to prove he was gonna be the offensive player everyone expected him to be in the pre-season because he was playing with good players.

Then once the regular season started he was always a fourth liner, what can you expect from him playing with guys like Dwyer Mckay and Blouin, nothin exactly what he has been doing.

Make him the number 2 centerman and he'll put up some descent numbers (maybe 20 goals, 45-60 points.)

Im not saying he's a Superstar but the guy can play and deserves to be put in an offensive role this season.

Ribeiro will be one of the breakthrough players on the team this season.

    :ghg:

  15. TSN and Sportsnet are both Leaf Crazy, it makes me sick to even watch it. I dont even bother to look for news about the Habs on there anymore. Habs are lucky if they get 2 minutes of coverage, while the Leafs get 15-25 almost every show. Its pretty bad when you look for hockey news and something like WADE's World comes on. What a joke, Belak probly wont even make the leafs.

As for the game, Ribeiro was by far the best player followed by Zednik. The line looked good together.

i thought Hossa played a pretty good game down low in the corners, used his size as an advantage for a change.

Theo looked really sharp as well, made some spectacular saves in the second two periods. As for the goals he let in, just bad luck, but what else is new in Montreal.

Other then that i thought the rest of the team was pretty much horrible. Dagenais looked out of place all the time, he was real slow and clumsy. Ward didn't look very sharp, Audette looked like the player that slumped last season, Higgins made one good defensive play but other then that went unoticed, Bulis didnt do very much, and well Traverse was Traverse and Breezer was Breezer.

By seeing tonights game Ryder should easily make the team and be on one of the top two lines. As for the defence, The habs better expect alot of ice time out of Souray, Komi and Markov or theres gonna be disaster in Montreal.

The rumor that Breezer turned down a trade was this true? If it is does anyone know where he was going?

Hopefully he'll be gone before the season starts, and Take Traverse with him.

    :ghg:

  16. They Should have faith in Ribeiro, he's the only real good center left. Keep this guy with Zednik all year and I think they'd both put up some big numbers. His line was definatly the best on the ice in the leaf game.

But i also like Zednik with Koivu and they seem to be good together.

Plekanec also looked flashy in the leaf game but i think he too small to stick with the team.

As for cuts, Dagenais should be sent down right away, he was horrible.
