  1. Someone made the point that Melanson and Allaire are great goaltending coachs and offered as proof that there were so many good young F.C. netmnders around. But really, F.C. goalies have been severely overrated for the past 5 years at least. Probably longer. Next it will be the turn of Finnish goaltenders. The fact is that the best goalies seem to come out of Western Canada. Some guy over at H.F. did an extensive anyalyisis, and it was pretty overwhelming. LOL, name me one good goalie in the NHL that is from Western Canada???? None are in the top 10, so stop posting stupid comments!!!! By the way, Canada's teams (pros and juniors) almost always as a Quebec goaler....so much for your great facts about Western goalies!!!! Who were the 3 goaltenders at the last Olympics ??? Brodeur, Théodore & Luongo...thank you very much!!!!
  2. Trizzak is accurate. The contracts are averaged out over the years of the contract. Therefore, 16 M$ over 3 years gives 5.33 M$/year, which is the amount that counts for the cap, eventhough the Habs will only pay him 4.5 M$ this year. This is to prevent from boosting a club in one year. For example, signing a good player for 2 years, paying him 2 M$ the 1st year and 8 M$ the 2nd year.
  3. Posted by Kaos: Broduer will still be the goalie to beat though. I think his old equipment is legal....he won't have to get used to smaller equipment. Answer to Kaos: Brodeur's old equipment was not legal, like all goalies. He was respecting the rules for the lenght of the pads but not for their width. He sold is old equipment at an auction this summer. Once he found out that the new rules don't apply to international hockey (Olympics), he asked the buyer if he could borrow them for the next Olympics!!!
