  1. Errr... when did anyone "call you names" for saying Theo would get traded. At the time, the rumour was a bit forgotten because Theo had gotten injured. I can't remember if I said he would get traded or not but if I said that he wouldn't then it doesn't mean the deal came out of nowhere. It would be the equivalent of Gainey going and trading Aebischer + 1st rounder for Lecavalier - you don't think it'll happen but you knew all about the rumour the entire time - hardly a surprise.

And about me bashing your opinoins but you being right. The only things I ever bashed you on were Ovechkin being better than Crosby, Tampa Bay being a bottom seeding playoff team not the amazing team to beat thanks to the new rules and that I'd rather have Redden than Chara. After a season goes by we can see that I am, so far, right on all 3 accounts. But I guess I shouldn't remind you of the facts and hurt your ego.

BTW.. my post before wasn't bashing you, it was just saying that the Aebi trade rumour was beaten to death before the trade happened and wasn't completely out of the blue. You're just a little sensitive. This post, however, is intended to bash your post.

Many people called me names, trust me on that one. "Mathieu 30" or something being on top of that list. Many were saying how great he is and that there was no way he would get traded, including you (so 1 argument that I was right over you). As for the Theo talk, I'm not even talking about before the trade deadline, I'm talking about way early in the season when everybody was defending poor little Theo because he was having a bad start and everyone was saying that he would bounce back, what a bounce he did alright, all the way to Colorado.

So, anyone disputing the trade possibility at that time was wrong (like you) and ended up being a nice surprise for them. Got to put things in the right perspective before saying it wasn't a surprise.

Your "equivalent" comparison is so not equivalent, I don't even why you brought it up. Everyone knows that Aebi will be traded (not everybody was agreeing that Theo would be traded), no comparison possible at all.

And you know what, if that Lecavalier trade happens, it will be a surprise because people don't believe in it. Its not because you ear about something that its not a surprise. A surprise is when something happens that you were not expecting, go look up the dictionary if you need to, it would be good for your education and understanding to know the proper meaning of words to avoid conflicts.

As for our other arguments, how easily you assume you are right. The Ovechkin-Crosby debate is far from being settled. Why would Ovechkin be better? He only got 4 pts more then Crosby, whoop ti do. Crosby is 2 years younger, much more impressive numbers for a 18 year old kid that had the pressure of being the next Gretzky and having to save a concession vs. no pressure for the 20 year old Ovechkin. Many specialists say that Crosby makes his linemates better, not Ovechkin, he's more of a individualists. I my book, Crosby is the better player (not more spectacular which many seem to be hanged up on), but the better player. So sorry but you didn't win that argument, only in your mind. Since I'm the grown up here, I'm willing to be nice and give you a tie. Anyways, not much difference between the quality of the 2 players. I don't get why your giving your self that one?

As for the TB argument, agreed, you were right on that one. There, not to complicated to admit a wrong.

As for Redden over Chara, again, calm down, who's asking the highest salary between the 2, thank you, its Chara. Honestly, there's is not much difference between the 2 and this is something that many peeople and experts are divided on, who's the better of the 2. Honestly, it's not an argument that anybody won, although I prefer Chara over Redden personnaly. Tie once again.

So stop taking credit for things you were not right, you didn't win anything, in fact I'm more right then you are, but who's counting, so lets calm down and be realistic here. Typical know it all reaction from todays kids that can't admit when they are wrong. How society has changed :P

Trust me, my ego is far from being hurt, especially not about stupid hockey arguments. When you will be older, you will realize that there are much more important things then hockey.

BTW...my previous post was not insulting, nor was I offending by it, but merely correcting your false post that it wasn't a surprise. Like I said, the dictionary proves me right on that one, so don't argue about it. Funny how people are offended when they are wrong and somebody points it out. Its a fact, learn to live with it, because it will happen many more times in your life like anybody else. I admitted about you being right about TB, I'm not offended or dead because of it.

Geezz, drop your old gruge against me, it would do you some good. I've tried to be nice to you, but you seem to be a little stuborn about old arguments. I posted about your good analysis of your mock draft. Unfortunatly, because the posts were removed due to its unpleasant contents, you're probably unaware that I defended you from some of Kaos bashing on you a few weeks ago.

Anyways, can't you bury the hatchet? If not, please stop commenting my posts, we would be better off. Thank you.

  2. Gainey trading Theo to Colorado for Aebischer was a surprise? It was the biggest rumour of the year and never went away. Everyone kept saying that is was so well-known that it wouldn't happen because BG always surprised us. In a way, it was so expected that it surprised us when it happened.

Trading Theo to Colorado was not a surprise for some, but it was for many, and getting Aebi in return was a complete surprise. Is name almost never came up in the rumors. It was all about Tanguay, Hejuk, Liles, etc.

How many of you defended Theo all year long on this board calling me all sorts of names (including your self) saying that he would not be traded (the rumors were non-sense) when I was right all along. And now, it wasn't a surprise to you? How quickly you forget when others are right and you are wrong.

I'd like to remind you that even during all the peoples blasting of my opinions and name calling on this Board, I've been right almost all the time, and I've never rubbed it in peoples faces, but if you're going to forget that you were part of that group, then you leave me with no choice to remind you of the facts.

  3. I don't believe any rumors coming out of Mtl, the media here is as bad as Toronto when it comes to making stuff up.

Besides, doesn't Gainey have a nice track record of pulling deals that nobody saw coming. Everything he did in Dallas. Kovy, Theo. Although, I did see that one coming, just not for Aebi, that was a complete surprise.

Same for draft picks, expect the unexpected with BG, that's the only guarantte I have with him.

Why would we be getting Bertuzzi the dumb ass who as a reputation of being hard to coach. Besides, he comes with a lot of bagage and bad publicity. Didn't we just get rid of an over-priced distraction in Theo, why bring in another one?

BG is purifying the clubhouse from the trouble makers, no way Bert is coming here.

  4. u guys are exagerating with all the 'he doesnt know crap, us fans know better, i already knew that!'. news goes around fast, and it gets repeated a lot of times over and over again. and yvon is there to commentate and sometimes state the obvious, but what do u want him to do? talk about his grandkids that we dont know about? im sorry, but the rds commentators are just fine, if u think u know ur hockey, then go commentate urself somewhere.

Yvon Pedneault is the laughing stock of Montreal. Every single person I know (and that's a lot) say that he doesn't know is hockey and that he sounds like a fool on TV. By the way, him and Pierre Houde spend half their time talking about life and other stuff then actually describing the ongoing game.

Pierre: Ward gives the puck to Kaberle.

Yvon: Did you have a nice week-end Pierre ?

Pierre: Yes, i went fishing and it was great!

Yvon: Did you catch any fish?

Pierre: Yes, i caught 5 of them, including a big one.

    Yvon, Really, and did you/

Pierre: And he scores!!!!!!! Great goal by Kovalev!!!! (If it wasn't for the image, nobody would have known that the Habs were now in possession of the puck).

    Great game play analysis.

Also, Pedneault was the one with the "scoop" that Kovalev was injured to his right knee in game 2 vs. the Canes and that he had difficulty making right turns on the ice. He even said that Kovy went to get X-rays at the hospital to see the damage on his knee. Guess what, Kovy and the medical staff of the Habs denied everything after the Habs were eliminated. Never got injured and never went to the hospital. Pedneault is a fu..ing idiot PERIOD.

  5. Scott Cullen is a Toronto Maple LEaf wanabe reporter. Does everyone not remember the ranking system and how he thinks teams should be rank by a carefully scripted (GUESSES) process he has. I cannot believe anyone still reads his trash. Go away Cullen, leave our glorious Habs alone and just do your Leaf thing....

LOL, I actually wrote to him a few times early in the season to argue is "ranking" system. The guy is so lost its not even funny. I still don't understand why he's on TSN's payroll...oh wait, maybe its because he favorably puts the Maple Laughs as contenders even when there not making playoffs, maybe that's why he's still on Toronto Sports Network or is it The Sports Network ;)

Honestly, he would justify his ranking with some lousy arguments, but then would refute those arguments and use the ones he was refuting before on is next email because it was not maintening the Maple Laughs in a good spot on his ranking system. I even wrote to him that he was a joke and that he was contributing to make TSN a laughing stock and contributing to their well known second name as Toronto Sports Network. In the end (when I would quote him and show him that he was changing is system every week to justify his ranking), he was so out of arguments and lost in his explanations to justify things to me that he responded to me that is system was not perfect and that he would prefer that I didn't write to him anymore and that I should ignore his system if I was not happy with it, so for the first and only time ever, I agreed with what he said and did just that. I avoid anything from this guy, unless I need a good laughter, my 5 year old nephew would do a better job then him.

Its sad, but TSN, RDS, everywhere, I learned a while ago that most of their "experts" are actually not that knowlegable and real hard core fans know their hockey much better then them. I know that on RDS, they are all quite pathetic to listen to, most especially Yvon "the idot" Pedneault. Just got to laugh when he pulls out a replay and his black marker (the thing to write stuff on the screen on replays) and explains to us a play, its so ridiculous its hilarious. Watching the Habs on RDS is a 2 for 1. You get sports and comedy at the same time, quite entertaining

  6. Souray is one of those guys that I actually like on some nights, then there are the Sidney Crosby Deke him out of his pads nights. If Sheldon could just put together a consistant (Does not have to be superstar) effort every night, he would be a valuable defenceman.

I would like the Kubina idea as I think a few people on Habsworld.net have discussed him. 209 points in 531 games is good. -98 in his career is not so good but he does know offense! At $4M the Habs have the room to add his talent to the core Montreal has. As harsh as I may seem on the Habs "D", I really would only like to see an upgrade by adding one guy. Too many times teams make radical changes and end up doing nothing with said changes.

I have totally given up on the high priced defenceman as the Leafs have just wrecked the market. Your observations about Chara and company are so accurate I have put those guys right out of any free agent signing thoughts.

SIGH, Come on Bob, give us something to argue about. Go get Mario out of retirement. :)

Kubina is a better defensive D then is +/- rating shows. He played with TB all is career where having -30 was good for a TB player 6 years ago. They are an offensive minded team and his +/- rating would be much better if he was playing for a team like the Habs.

He's a better version of Souray. Big (6'4", 230 lbs), good offensively but (unlike Souray) also realible on defense. Not a stay at home defense, but won't get deked out of his pants like Souray does. You see Crosby when you imagine Souray being deked out, I see Spezza. Man was that one bad...looked like a pee-wee player... I also see Brind'amour in the 3rd game of the playoff where it was so important to just play the man instead of trying to smash him into lala land...Brind'amout tied the game late in the 3rd on that play and that was the end of our season from there :angry2:

  7. Ya... I read there that the Canadiens were being sold to a group based (for the most part) in Winnipeg, Manitoba. After a major team-naming contest in all of the Winnipeg media, the team was going to be renamed THE WINNIPEG FLOODS (because they're always a factor in spring).

There were a five runner-ups. These were 1) THE FLOOD DIKES (or DYKES) :o (but they weren't sure of the proper spelling and, moreover, since the players are all male...), another was 2) THE GOLDEN BOYS (but the Winnipeg Historical Society threatened to take down the real one), 3) THE MOSQUITOES (but the local Don't Do That (DDT) society threatened to fog the arena without notice), 4) THE CANOLA KINGS (but that went against too many people's grain...) and 5) THE RYE GUYS (but Johnny Walker was only a minority owner and the others voted against him... he was pissed and he got pissed...)

Was that one of those false rumours? The reason I ask is that I saw it and then when I went into the kitchen to get my son who was doing the dishes (like any good man would), by the time I got back to the computer, it was gone. He kept telling me that either I was just seeing things or maybe that my old acid trips were snapping some synapses again.

    I was so certain....

    :king: :hlogo: :king:

Yes the article was there, but then it was removed.

  8. Here's a name for you InsaneAVSfan...KUBINA :P

He's my favoritre available D this summer. Probably the one that would bring us what we need the most at a decent price. The Redden's, Chara's and Jovanovski's are too expensive.

Kubina at 4M$ would be great. Get rid of Souray (Kubina is good on the PP and much better defensively) and it only cost us 1.5M$ to majorly upgrade our D.

  9. remember, ive got a western view of things....

taking price was the worst move the habs made in quite a while... Gilbert Brule was still available and went 6th to Columbus, and will more than likely be playing for them starting next year. Price, another BC boy, wont make any nhl team for 3-5 years, because he is a goalie, and still needs development....

ian clarke is pretty good, he has helped alex auld shrink the size of his ridiculous sized rebounds from going past the faceoff circle to staying near where he can dive on them. this camp will help price... but that was the wrong move!!!!!!!!

Being (maybe) ready for next year doesn't make him a sure bet. The Habs felt that Price is a better prospect.

I've eard many times that Brule's physical style is not going to work in the NHL because of is size. The NHL is about man, not boys. Will he be able to adapt? Will he be as good as a player by changing is style? The Habs saw this and felt that Price was the better prospect.

Who cares if Price is only ready 3 years after Brule. We have plenty of small forwards, didn't need another one with Brule.

  10. Well thats good to hear. $1 Million a year seemed far too excessive for Streit.

If Streit got 1M$ per year, I will seriouly start to question BG capabilities. Common sense tells me that this info is wrong.

That's as much a Komi and Higgins will get. The guy was paid $500,000, last year, no way he got such an increase based on what he did last year.

Bouillon will get a good increase from last year ($600,000). He's a coveted cheap UFA. He plays hard every night, and he was on pace to finish in the top 10 in the league for bodychekcs and blocked shots before is leg injury. Its at least 1M$, and probably more like 1.5M$. Hopefully BG can get a discount because he really wants to stay in Mtl.

As for Huet, I wouldn't mind 8M$ over 3 years, but again, they don't know squat on that show.

  11. If anyone saw 110% tonight, they said Streit signed a 2 year one way contract worth 2 million dollars... 1 million per year, most of the guys on the show were furious... and explained that Boullion won't sign for less than 1.8, while Huet is looking at 8 million over 3 years.

I would like to advise everyone to calm down and not let this upset you for nothing. This information is probably wrong (in fact I'm almost sure of it) because the guys on that show are morons who never have the proper information. They always say they have a source, and then they're either wrong or it never happens.

This show is about making a show. They come up with BS info and then they scream and argue all show long. They have no clue of what is really going on.

The only reason I watch it sometimes is for the entertainment and nothing else.

  12. Bit why would Arnott want to sign before seeing what other teams are willing to offer. I could see it if he wanted to stay in Dallas...

Because he knows BG and Carb well. Maybe they really get a long. He would already know his new coach. It gives BG and Carb the chance to talk to him and convince him that Mtl is great. It also gives Carb a chance to explain to him what he expects from him and the role he would have with us. It also aloows us to tell him that he would be playing with a great player like Kovalev.

Its not always just about the money. Its probably is last big contract where he will finish off his career or almost and maybe the team and the destination are more important at that stage then the $. The Habs will be a very good team for the next 5 years for sure, so its very appealing for a player at 31 of age.

Never said it was for sure, but its a possibility. Forsberg signed at a discount with Philly last year. If the Habs and Dallas are really talking, its not to wait until after July 1st, and that is for sure.

Anything's possible, maybe its just to give us a head start in being able to talk to Arnott before the other teams. Maybe Dallas knows that Arnott is not coming back to them.

  13. What luck that the UFA we would want the most bar none is connected to an organisation where our GM has

played a central role there for many years and where CH new coach Carbo was still being a part of it but just a few months ago.

I wonder why would Arnott want out of Dallas thought ? But if this is the case I have no problem seing BG

obtaining the exclusive right of negociation from Dallas for obvious reasons. This scenario might not bring

Arnott in here at lower anticipated market value but the chances of getting him at all are now all that much better. In term of UFA aquisition and the linked many years contract they usually represent..... he is a perfect

fit within the evolving pieces within the CH system.

If that get done, BG might want to get a quality LW for the top line in a trade involving Aebisher,....

a proven forward with one or two years left in his contract,.....the time it will get for one of the Russian on the

third line to prove its worthiness to get the top job.

    go Bob go

If we can sign him before July first or Dallas does and then trade him to us, I believe we can have him at a cheaper price vs. him hitting the UFA market. I'm not talking about a big discount, but avoiding the bidding war and avoiding him earing offers from other teams would help to get him at a lower price. Once a player becomes a UFA, anything can happen and you never know which idiot GM can decide to make a huge offer to a player.

  14. Deep down, in the darkest sections of their psyche, ALL players are Canadiens fans... some don't know it, some deny it (prefering to live in a fantasy world) and some know it but won't declare it due to some sort culture-based inferiority/guilt complex. Poor boys......... :puke: :puke:

    :king: :hlogo: :king:

LOL, except all the idiots that wish to play for the Maple Laughs :P

  15. Just wanted to expand on the above post by KTC. Koivu and Fedorov are like night and day different. I would rather have Koivu right now as heart wins championships which Fedorov does not seem to show any longer. (Ask the Ducks) The Columbus GM was on the FAn590 today and talked about the Nash/Fedorov partnership. Before Fedorov, Nash was a minus -30 the year before. This year he was a plus +10 as Fedorov helped improve his offense and defensive responsibilities.

Apparently these guys click and work well together.

(I would love to see Nash in Montreal to prove Komisarek the Cruncher's theory). :hlogo:

God I would love to prove my theory to :D Having Nash would be awesome.

  16. Well i don't have a source...well i do but nothing internet wise but a friend has a subscribtion with this rumor dude...A MILLION TIMES BETTER THEN EKLUND. i have the quote from the email.

"Removing the moratorium on re-signing UFA players gives Gainey a couple of more weeks to negotiate but it does seem he's going to have to pay between $2.5 million -$3 million per to retain Huet. Most Habs fans would probably do that deal in a heartbeat. As for Bouillon, don't be surprised if his new contract with the Canadiens is announced within the next couple of weeks. He loves playing in Montreal and will probably get a decent raise over the $600K he earned last season (ballpark it around $1 million)."

And also Guy Carbonneu and his wife is with Brendan Morrow, they said it on the radio team 990 i think it was, and well Morrow UFA this year, and Carb and Morrow are related Carb is Morrows Father-inlaw, anyway im sure Carb is confronting morrow to consider coming to play for montreal :D and if he does WOO HOO.

Don't want to burst your buble, but your rumor is straight out of Spector's site, available for anybody, don't have to pay for that. Also, its yesterday's news (appeared on Spector's yesterday). And no, Spector's is not more reliable then Ecklund.

As for Morrow, again, don't want to burst your buble, but he's not a UFA, he's not even a RFA, he's only available for arbitration. He's a 27 year old kid with 6 years experience and you need to be 29 with 4 years experience or just have 8 years experience no matter your age to be a UFA for next year.

  17. According to Yvon Pedneault of RDS (see rumors on Spector's site), for whatever that's worth because he's an imbecile, the Hbas are in discussions with Dallas for Arnott.

Maybe to acquire is rights to talk to him or maybe to pull a trade ala Heatley, but without giving much inreturn, since he's 23 days away from being a UFA. Dallas could sign Arnott to the deal the Habs want to sign him and then we could trade for him. Ribs and Zednik to unload salaries and unecessary players from our roster. This might be a cheaper way of signing Arnott in terms of $ (won't get offers from other teams, so no bidding war for the best center available this summer) but more expensive in terms of having to give out players in return. If we have to give useless guys like Ribs and Zednik, then I'm all for it, a cheaper salary will have an impact on our cap for years to come.

    Gotta love BG.

  18. Still, I'd like it if Streit was bigger and more physical. Good sign anyway, but i am wondering if this news is really accurate because at the end of the season Streit wasnt happy with his ice time and the way the coaches used him. What could have changed his mind?

He also mentionned that playing in the NHL is a dream of his and that playing in the best league in the world doesn't come close to compare with playing in a Euro leugue.

Not sure how much he was making in Europe, but money might have to do something with his decision also.

  19. Its an alright signing... but i think id rather have Markov or Kubina... now we wont get them cuz were full again.

    :hlogo:

Signing a expensive D would have meant that Dandenault would have been our 7th D at 1.7M$, not very economic for a depth player.

Streit is a perfect 7th D. Give him time, he looked quite alright after the Olympics. Definetly as potential for the PP.

Full again? What makes you say that? Bouillon still hasn't signed. Neither has Simpson or Komisarek. Who knows what'll happen.

Komi is eligible for arbitration and that's it. Is not a RFA or UFA. There are many others on the club in that situation. I will resign soon.
