the dog days are getting the best of us..how about this:
does therrien stick to his guns or does he up subbans icetime to around 28 mins/game?
-
any chance finley gets moved up as a part time 4th line winger?
-
Yep^ . Habs had some real tough cookies through the years, Ferguson protected the stars long ago, and my personal favorite time were the days of Chris Nilan.
The 70's brought us a roster full of skill and cups, but we were real tough. We had Bouchard, but in reality, nobody wanted a piece of Larry Robinson, and I remember the time the feared Dave Shultz of the Flyers bit off more than he can chew in Guy Lapointe. Wouldn't it be great to have someone with goon quality "go" stuff, and still be a 20 minute player?
We need a new Rocket! He could tear your day apart in a couple different ways....

chris nilan? yes please!! now there was one tough s.o.b! and could he play hockey? yes absolutely..he rode shotgun for guy carboneau on the premier shutdown line in the league for years! chris neil may be the new chris nilan..i'd welcome him anyday

what will happen sooner?
1: Mike McCaron catches up to his size and developes into a solid 2nd/3rd line power forward?
2: impatient hab fans and media have him run outta town by the time he's 23?
3: spends 4 to 5 years in Hamilton and bolts for the Swedish pro league?
-
we need someone that won't ask questions, unlike laroque. "excuse me, mr lucic, mind if we have a go?" gimme a break...should've cut the bum that night!
-
everyone has their opinion I suppose. i'm 100% certain that fighting will not be banned this year however, so might as well be prepared! and for a young team on the cusp of something special, mb would be foolish not to employ an enforcer.
-
lotta beef there..thats why I support a new heavyweight added to the mix. it's not necessarily the goon vs goon deterrent factor..it's the goon deterring an ahole like lucic from inciting an all out line brawl. that's where we need the help.
-
newsflash don: fighting is and always will be a part of hockey! lemme ask u this..do u honestly think the bruins are going to be tickled pink that we eliminated them? no, I guarantee the shit will hit the fan! and YES it will be sweet as fck if we got an insurance policy like a mcgratton or bordeleau. bush league or not, the guys in the room will breathe a little easier knowing they have a heavy backing them up
-
I agree stogey, a heavyweight is needed. who do we have to diffuse the situation when lucic decides to exact his revenge? and then with chara, mcquaid, and Campbell as his backup..i don't see the need to get beat up in a line brawl again. how sweet would it be to snag up mcgratton?! or bordeleau?
-
the habs have improved with the malholtra signing. thank you to ryan white and good luck in philly. it was just time for both parties to move on.
-
habs and hawks, nuff said

so mccaron's a big, slow, pillow-handed oaf eh? is this a "make or break" season for the big guy?
-
I went to this mini pre-tournament last year in lake placid. de la rose ripped a beauty top shelf goal on fucale. this kids got the goods for sure!
-
ugh...leblanc!! now there was a wasted pick if I ever saw one! mccaron will take time for sure. theyre saying he'll get his shot this year in London. hopefully he takes full advantage
-
uh-ohhh, do I smell first round bust, or is this yet another case of big body/slow development?
-
im not hating this...maybe he'll teach the youngins how to play with an edge. man, if only Frankie were 6'3"!!
-
YESSSSSSSS!!
-
is it possiblr that this entire standoff isn't because of mb, or pk, or molson and is the doing of Meehan? because they went to arbitration and will likely be awarded a 1 year contract, subban will then get to ufa status where meehans paycheck will jump considerably. just a thought
nope..they just agreed to an 8 year contract!! details in a few..
-
I don't believe this shit..didn't mb learn from the bridge contract? subban could be entering his 3rd year of a 6.5 per contract..but noooo, lets sign him to crap incase he's a chump! well mb found out subban is the man and should've signed him lomgterm at around 7.5-8.5 yesterday..but now that's come and gone. arbitrater will now deem somewhere in the 7 mil range for 2 years and he'll leave for greener pastures in the 10-12 range elsewhere..when again he should be entering the 3rd year of a decent contract. I give up
-
so it's 8:06 am..still no deal? wth?!
-
tick tock tick tock
8 years, it's a lock!

calm down, there's nothing wrong with being concerned that our best player still isn't signed.
-
maybe they sat him out as a defenseman last year? surely we could put the big dummy on 4th line vs the league toughs? but then again, anybody with less talent than john scott surely shouldn't be in the league.
-
so no need to panic..he'll sign here longterm for what he's worth, comparable to other top 5 defensemen in the league. no worries, its july..get out on the links

is there any other player (besides subban obviously) under more pressure than alex galchenyuk? pretty sure everyone is hoping he explodes for 80+ pts this year and 100+ for the next decade or so..
