DD won't get us much, maybe a 3rd round pick. If anything it'll free up cap space for a deadline move.

I don't think there are any teams out there that are willing trade partners. Everyone knows that if we get a true #1C, we're in the hunt for SC25! Trouble is, this hypothetical trade will mortgage our future. We'll be handcuffed for a decade..again. It took us long enough to recover from BG's free agent madness. I'm giving MB the benefit of the doubt regarding huge blockbuster deals. Let's see if we can develop a star internally, then fill in with supplemental deals

I too loved Souray's toughness and big shot. He took care of the front of the net and was a beast on the pp. I didn't get why ppl said he couldn't defend though..guess I didn't see it

Good comparison MoLG, however, before Volchenkov's and Emelin's injuries, there was no comparison. Volchenkov was the best defensive defenseman out there (well top 3 for sure) But you're right, injuries will do a number on a career

How come we never hear about Nygren's game? When he was in Hamilton we weren't blown away...when he went back to Sweden, we heard even less..Not once did we hear any rumblings like "he's the best defenseman not in the NHL!" I don't recall ever seeing him play? Was he the guy that was brought up (maybe against Win) and played like 2 shifts, then got pinned to the bench by Therrien?

For the regular season I would trade Gilbert, mainly because his contract would make him much more tradeable than Emelin's would. Emelin is a solid #5D, and I would keep him there. For the post-season, I would trade Markov..no doubt! In the meantime:
