  1. Tip: when zipping, select all the individual files and zip them, rather than zipping the HWL folder. That way, the files will extract directly, rather than into their own folder. Thanks to those stepping up to sim!

    +1

  2. To Pittsburgh:

    Bobby "Freakin" Ryan - (91-77-83) - 83 CON

    To San Jose:

    Brandon Saad - (70-70-72) - 80 CON

I've had this trade ready to go for a week or so but was waiting until I could move a forward. With the Toronto trade done I can now pull the trigger. I was looking for a top line player to pair with Eric Staal and Kovalchuk and this is about as good a fit as there is out there. This allows me to move Jordan Staal down to the 3rd line making the whole lineup stronger overall.

It hurts to lose Saad who is NHL ready and arguably my best prospect, but I've ultimately decided that this is the year to make a run at the Cup and that convinced me that it was time to make this big move.

  3. Pittsburgh Sends:

    Maxim Trunev (80-68-75) - 92 CON

    Tommi Kivisto (75-78-74) - 57 CON

    in exchange, Toronto send:

    Teemu Laakso (77-79-76) - 81 CON

    Toronto's 2021 2nd round pick

I needed to move Trunev in order to clear a spot for a trade that I am about to make. I was originally targeting a defensive prospect but given Jiri Fischer's inability to stay healthy I decided to add Laakso who will be a great NZT and PP D man for me and I will use Fischer as my 7th D moving forward.

  4. 2-2 sim. With a worrying trend emerging

3-1 W over Pittsburgh, we were outshot 28-20 but come away with the W, with Hill in net(not sure why he was in net though). 1 goal and an assist to Legrand.

3-5 L to Pittsburgh the next night. Outshot 29-21. Getzlaf with a goal and 2 assists.

2-4 L to Boston. get smashed in shots 29 to 18. Heatley and Taylor with 1 goal and 1 assist each.

5-1 W over New Jersey. We are outshot again 31 to 20. Getzlaf 2 goals and an assist and Nicklas Jensen a goal and 2 assist

I wouldn't worry too much, I outshoot everyone. Now if only Hooch would play up to his abilities...

  5. Nash earned a no trade clause and thus has the right to dictate who he gets traded to. If Columbus didn't want to be limited them they never should have agreed to it. he's a professional and has every right to move to the team/city that he feels will be a good fit for both him and his family. Get over yourself.

  6. Apparently Jagr in his conference call with Dallas stated that the Habs were his preferred destination but that the team wasn't interested.

That would confirm Bergevin's comment. A lot of people speculated that MB's assertion that the Habs weren't interested was really him saying that they didn't want to spend the money, or was a way for him to deny that they "lost out" on Jagr.

Interesting that MB would be so up front and frank about their lack of interest. Certainly continues to show that he is the anti-gauthier in how he communicates to the media/fans.

  7. I'm not going to be able to get to any of these trades until after this weekend, so if the alternate TC could please take a look I would appreciate it.

Fanpuck/Haydis please check my DM, I would appreciate a response.

  8. I was surprised when I saw the length of this deal and was worried about Moen's age at the end of the contract. Is anyone else surprised that he's only 30 this year? Feels like his been in the league forever.

1.85 million for a solid bottom 6 forward who clearly has the respect of the locker room is good work by MB.

  9. It is allowed, provided they find a taker and he clears waivers. Personally I'd use him in Hamilton, the Bulldogs need veterans offensively, why pay him to play against your prospects when he could help them?

I'd tend to agree with you, but I guess it all depends on his attitude. if Gomez takes his demotion to the AHL very poorly it may not be beneficial to have a brooding veteran down on the farm with all of our impressionable young prospects.

  10. I hope we don't trade Subban.

Maguire and Button just discussed us moving up to grab number 2 if Yak falls to grab both him and Gally at 3.

I wonder if Columbus would trade the pick for one of our young d-men and perhaps next year 1st?

That is IF the Oilers draft Murray 1st overall.

This is my secret hope. Beaulieu, Kristo and next year's 1st round pick for the 2nd overall pick. Grab Yakupov and Galchenyuk. Sign me up!

  11. guys, I'll argue in favour of the deal :

    1. have you taken into account what Edm has received so far for Getzlaf and Bourdon. (if he's taken this deal, it's b/c he didn't receive better offer and we just finished the busiest part of the year trade wise... hence, Getz and Bourdon will just be one year older next year)

    2. look at trade history for similar players FLA traded L Steve Bernier to PHO for R Mark Calaway and L Evgeni Dadonov and $4,666,600 cash]

it might not be the best deal ever, but I am not sure you can decide for Edm that it was not the best offer at that moment.

I'm not concerned with past trades because there's no way to analyze past deals without the context that went into them. Besides, my job isn't to evaluate past trades, it's to evaluate this one.

It's the 1st week of the season I honestly believe that edmonton should be able to net a better return for getzlaf, but particularly for Bourdon.

  12. I'm sorry this has taken so long. I have discussed this deal with the Commish team and have reviewed it at length. Ultimately I simply do not feel that Edmonton is getting good value for two star players. Even considering Getzlaf's age, I see this as two star players being dealt for quantity over quality.

The 1st round picks are likely be be in the back 1/3 of the draft so wont net more than 3rd or 4th line players. The players involved are also nothing more than mid-tier players. Lombardi is the exception but he doesn't cover the talent gap enough.

I'm happy to work with both parties to try to make the deal work, but as it stands I have to reject this trade.

  13. Haven't finished reviewing this, but one thing I did notice. Rezny can't be included in this deal as he was just selected in the waiver draft. Just so you know Brett, guys selected in the waiver draft can't be dealt within the first 3 months of the season.
