InsaneHABSfan
I'll Bite on this thread although not useless.... In 1900 Referee Fred Waghorne introduced the modern faceoff dropping the puck on the ice between the players sticks instead of placing it on the ice. Some said it was to reduce the risk the chances of injury when we all know it was to stop the chance of him dropping his beer. Man, spilled beer in some cultures is more insulting than peeing in a public shower...... In January 1905 Dawson City challenged the Ottawa Silver Seven for the Stanley Cup. Problem was the Yukon team had to travel 4,000 miles by dogsled, ship and train. Obviously this was not good for them because Ottawa won game one 9-2 and then crushed Dawson City 23-2 in game two. Frank McGee of Ottawa scored 14 goals in game two. Oh how our Habs could use this guy right now! During the 1906-1907 season Cornwall's Owen McCourt is killed by Ottawa's Charles Masson (Aka Charles Manson ) after being hit in the head. Masson is charged with manslaughter but is acquitted. Sort of sounds like Gary Bettman justice! 1943-1945 season the NHL introduced the center red line to speed up the game and reduce off sides. Well nobody is perfect :hlogo: 1943-1945 season Montreal coach Dick Irvin put the Punch line togeher for the first time. Maurice Richard, Toe Blake, and Elmer Lach. Habs finished the year with a 38-5-7 record, which is probably 35 more wins than the Leafs will have this year! Doktor Kosmos
I suppose I should post this in some other thread, but I'm too lazy to care to look for a more appropriate one. So here goes: Ed Belfour made his debut in Swedish hockey yesterday when his Leksand played Sundsvall in the second highest league (Allsvenskan). Belfour saw the first Sundsvall shot of the game slip past him after about a minute of play, but after that he stopped the rest of Sundsvall's shots. Leksand won the game 4-1.
