Draft over! He was our 9th rounder , 271 overall He was the 4th euro ranked goaltender by CSS (Lindberg was the 8th) ... "Jaroslav Halak, G, Bratislava (Slovak Jr.) -- His stock soared in April after backstopping Slovakia to a silver medal at the World Under-18's in Russia with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage). A poised, hybrid goalie with excellent flexibility and a very active glove hand, Halak is so calm that he often looks like he's waiting for a bus. He plays an economical style, always staying square to the shooter and is never out of position for rebounds." Habs77
Jaroslav Halak (9th round, 271st overall) is a 5-foot-11, 165-pound goaltender from the Bratislava junior team in Slovakia. "We had him ranked in our top 90 players," Timmins said. "He was named the top goaltender in the world under-18 championships." The Habs are hoping to get a closer look at the drafted players at summer development camp, July 2-13 in Montreal. Jaroslav Halak - 9th Round – 271stGoaltender, 5’11’’ – 165 lbs (Bratislava Jr., Slovakia) 2002-2003: 9 games, 477 mins, 2.00 GAA It should come as no surprise to find the name of Jaroslav Halak among those selected. The young Slovak netminder was listed as the 4th European goaltender entering the draft according to the CSB. After Richard Zednik, Marcel Hossa, and Jozef Balej, Halak becomes the fourth player of Slovakian heritage to become a part of the Canadiens' organization. Halak, who played for the Bratislava junior team in 2002-2003, has a chance to make the Slovakia capitol's first team next season.
