Gainey see's a quality in him that he feels given the chance might turn him into a strong goal scorer.

No he doesn't think he'll develop into a strong goal scorer. He's simply rewarding the kid for hard work, and feels maybe his speed will be an asset to that line. Murray won't get any significant time on the second or first line for that matter. He is strictly a 3rd and 4th liner. And a good one at that
