Spider-Man NL
TSN.ca Staff 12/17/2003 The Philadelphia Flyers have sent forward Eric Chouinard to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. ''With the acquisition of (Mike) Comrie, there just wasn't going to be any ice time or any place to play Eric,'' said Flyers GM Bob Clarke in making the announcement. ''We felt that for our team and for Eric that it's better he goes somewhere else where he gets a chance to play.'' The 23-year-old Chouinard scored three goals in 17 games for the Flyers this season. In 58 career regular season games with the Flyers and Montreal Canadiens, Chouinard recorded eight goals, seven assists and eight penalty minutes. Chouinard was acquired by the Flyers from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a second round pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft on January 29, 2003. He was originally drafted by the Canadiens in the first round (16th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. The Wild made room on their roster by waving centre Darby Hendrickson. If he goes unclaimed by another club, Hendrickson will be assigned to the team's AHL club in Houston.
Habs77
Anyone scared that the Chouinard would bust out somehow in Philly can now start breathing again. We were damn lucky to get a 2nd for him... hopefully Lapierre turns out great so it can end up being a real steal. Time will tell. In the meantime, Chouinard joins Daigle as the newest Minnesota reclamation project. Will they sign Richer next?
