Criag's list is up. Surprised at Catton at 15 but again the rankings have been all over the place. Has Dickinson, Helenius and Eiserman at 6, 7 and 8 which is likely where the Habs draft.
Craig’s List: Russian winger Ivan Demidov soars to No. 2 behind Macklin Celebrini | TSN
If they continue to rack up points, 9th / 10th might not be entirely out of the question.

Tuch is a player whose style is better for the pros than college. They'd be crazy not to try to sign him. He's a legitimate NHL prospect, albeit a low ceiling.
My surprise with Tuch was more so with the "sign him soon" if they have any plan(s) for the contract slots before July 1st ... I agree he is a player who may well be better suited to the pros ... my guess is 3rd liner is his ceiling, solid 4th liner a decent likelihood.

Journal de Montreal article on which draft picks the Habs will be signing:
SOON:
Adam Engstrom
But may not make it to Laval this season, depending on how his SHL team (Rögle) does in the playoffsLane Hutson
Even if BU makes it to the Championship game, Hutson could sign and play in one or both of the final two games of the season with the Habs.Luke Tuch
This one surprises me slightly in that his offensive progression has been modest but he his size/physicality may translate well to the pros, albeit in a grinder role, that the Habs may see as a need.SOON... or ... NEXT SEASON (i.e., not using a 23/24 contract slot)
The contract slot could a factor to allow freedom to make trades before July 1st ... the Habs currently have 5 available ... for that reason, I would slide Tuch into this category ... if Engstrom can't join Laval for their playoff run/playoffs I wudl slide him in this group as well.
Oliver Kapanen
Habs could wait until June 2025, but his production as a 20-yr-old in a mens league has been solid (tied for 50th in scoring), he has also shown a strong all-round game ... he has had a strong playoff thus far (9pts, 4g in 6 games) ... but another year in the SM-liiga might fit both his and the organization's needs.
MAYBE
Cédrick Guindon
Habs have until June 1st to sign him or lose his rights ... his stats didn't take a big jump from his draft year and have now regressed slightly from last year ... may be a candidate for an AHL contact.Jared Davidson
Also needs to be signed by June 1st ... his occasional flashes in Laval this season may not be enough for an NHL contract but they may extend another AHL offer.Miguël Tourigny
Another June 1st deadline ... spent the season in Trois Rivieres ... likely at most an AHL contractLIKELY BYE-BYE-BYE
Petteri Nurmi
Another June 1st deadline ... 2022 7th rounder (194th)Blake Biondi
As an NCAA player, Habs have until August 15th to sign him ... 2020 4th rounder (109th) out of high-school ... his second/sophomore season was promising, but his production has regressed ... last season he played through a left shoulder injury until mid-season when a right-shoulder injury ended his year and he had surgery on both ... slight uptake in production this season ... how much was recovery from the surgeries a factor ... but with the Habs depth in D-prospects there seems little urgency to sign him ... but RHD depth might be a factor in offering an AHL contractNOTE: Italicized text taken from Journal article, non-italicized my comments

I'd have a hard time thinking they'd penalize a team who doesn't have their own draft pick further by counting it as one of the two improvements for the team who didn't have it. That's just rubbing it in. That said, I don't think I've seen the wording of the rule either so I suppose I can't be sure on that one.
My GUESS is that with a trade involving an unconditional pick it would count against the Habs as the pick transferred when the trade was registered ... but if the Habs had the option of the Jets' 2024 or 2025 pick it might not as the pick might still "legally" be Winnipeg's until the Habs make the decision to use it and likely therefore it still belonged to Winnipeg at the time of the lottery.

Things aren't looking so good for ECHL Trois-Rivieres. At a minimum, it seems unlikely they'll be around next season. It's possible they might not even get through this season.

May not help them that the UQTR Patriotes have been a near perennial powerhouse for a quarter century.

He will likely be for the rest of his contract what he is this year, a hard working, hard driving slow right winger who will give everything he has and scored 8-12 goals a year, maybe 15 in a good year.
And that likley at most ... he could get slower and be more injury prone from the wear & tear to which he has subjected his body over his career.

From my perspective I view this as trading a useless Gallagher for a player that might not be as useless.
I don’t like or dislike KK and perhaps he might be a decent third line winger.
No risk involved
Perhaps not for the Habs, but why would Carolina want Gallagher.

As a team with Cup aspirations, they may well have better uses for that dough than sinking it into that piece of crap KK 🤷♂️
Depends entirely on whether they feel he still has the upside that led them to sign the (I-M-O) illegally agreed to extension that was an unwritten part of the RFA offer sheet.

More rules that I didn’t know until now!Your hockey knowledge is amazing Commandant
Since KK doesn't turn 25 until July 6, 2025 the 'Canes could give him another season and still benefit from the 33% buyout ... unless they have specific plans for the $3.985M this summer.

Wouldn't it be nice if Winnipeg lost their last 10 games, slipped out of a playoff spot, won the draft lottery, moved up 10 spots and then we draft 6 and 7? Is that too much to hope for?
Not if you also buy lottery tickets.

Gallagher for KK at 50% retained?
Will never happen of course but I would bite
Who is retaining?
Not interested in KK at, effectively, $8.075 ($4.82+$3.25) for three seasons, but Carolina might take Gallagher at $3.25, saving $1.57M over KK.
Now, if KK is bought out AND Dvorak gets moved, I could accept KK and Evans fighting it out for NEXT season's 3C/4C spots.

Florian is just 19, assume he will play 1 more year in the OHL, wont he?
I expect he will go back if not signed ... but I'm certain he would rather get a contract than play as an over-ager ... unless he has another significant jump in production (say, at least 20+ points) as an OHL over-ager it likely doesn't add to his odds of getting signed.

I heard or read somewhere, and I can't remember where, that Carolina may entertain the idea of buying out KK. It would be a crazy buyout though, 6 more years @ $4.8m on his current deal. It would save Carolina $4m per season for the contract duration and cost about $850k for 6 more years after that, according to capfriendly
With the salary cap increasing next season and expected to continue (to whatever degree) in years to come it may be a viable option ... I also expect that if the buyout happens, more than a few teams would offer him a bury-able one, maybe two, year contract to prove the 'Canes bailed too soon ... I-M-O his issues are between the ears, not below the neck.

Josh Anderson…even I gave up defending him months ago. He’s untradeable, so the best we can hope for is that he hits “reboot,” changes his summer regimen to ensure peak fitness, and gets his mojo back next season.
On TSN690 this morning Marc Denis admitted (starting around 9:05 mark) that he has accepted that Josh Anderson is no longer a top 6 offensive forward, and that he is effective when he brings energy/aggressiveness but that he doesn't do that consistently ... he could get back to being a 20 goal and be a useful third line player.

"...Tweaking these things in small ways that make him more effective — teaching him how to blend fakes and look-offs into his passes, helping him learn to hide his intentions offensively, and more — is the way forward to unlocking 40- to 50-point upside. And that’s where Lane Hutson comes in."
Long-term, Reinbacher/HUTSON and Mailloux/Guhle seem to make sense ... then Xhekaj with Kovacevic/Barron/Harris/???

PTO does not prevent a player from signing an NHL contract with someone else, so he really would not lose anything by doing a PTO.
The issue would, I guess, be whether he feels he will get signed ... if yes, why risk a catastrophic injury that could impact those chances.

Assuming Saginaw takes this series, I'll be curious to see if Guindon joins Laval down the stretch. I think he's on the bubble for getting signed to an ELC so getting even some practice time with the Rocket might be useful from an evaluation standpoint.
I assume you mean Guindon signing a PTO ... looking elsewhere, is Florian certain enough of getting an NHL contract that he would decline such an offer, or might he also want to "show his wares" if he is eliminated early enough to warrant an offer?

The discussion I was replying to was about potentially testing Ylonen for the rest of the season. not about the D choices for next season.
And St-Louis has given Ylonen minimal ice time when he has been playing, usually on the fourth line. Whether he is that bad or not, either way it sure doesn't look like St-Louis wants to give him a look in the middle six, whatever his rationale is. So, not much point in inserting him in the lineup now, I expect he'll be somewhere else next season, as much as we have a dearth of middle-six wingers.
I think that barring a trade this summer, the top 6 wings are set (CC, Slaf, Newhook and Roy) for next season ... drafting or trading for a top 6 winger pushes one of those down to the 3rd line ... then either of Gallagher or Anderson likely fill the other third line spot () or, absent a draftee/trade, at least one of them get a 3rd line spot ... but I-M-O even a solid final 13 games wouldn't convince me to PLAN on Ylonen being anything but a 4th line candidate ***if*** he gets qualified.
