Rumblings that KK will not be extended by CAR ... Article mentions his poor work ethic and how he is now on the 4th line and sometimes skipping shifts for being too soft ...
His full season stats place him 10th in 5-on-5 TOI amongst regular Hurricanes forwards (minimum 10 games), about as far behind 9th as he is ahead of 12th ... so 4th line is not a recent occurrence.

One can only hope.

Not the same but somewhat related ...
Then it was that the Soviet Union didn't allow players to leave, which may yet happen now ... but it Russian/Belarusian players are banned the workaround might be for them to defect, or at least immigrate to North America rather than just getting a work permit.

There is also going to be a risk with Russian players in general, whether they will be able to come here to play. How big is that risk? I think no one knows yet, but teams have been banned, and individual athletes have been banned from at least skiing and figure skating already.
Wonder if we will have another era of "defecting" Russians like back in the Mogilny/Fedorov/etc. days.

Clears a contract slot ... that could/will be useful.

Bergevin and Danault might "be supportive" of the Kings looking at Gallagher ... yes ... I buy lottery tickets.

I think this trade proposal with Dallas makes sense (sorry if it has been posted before):
To Dallas: Petry ($6.25M/'til2025)
To Montreal: Radulov ($6.25M/UFA'22) Jack Bar and 2nd 2023 (which can be conditional to Dallas making the playoffs this year or winning the first round this year)
Dallas gets a replacement to Klingberg for next season at a lesser price and with their D depth can shelter Petry
Habs get a promising RD and an ok draft pick next year, plus they get some cap room to sign UFA(s) this summer
A few weeks ago the idea of dumping Petry for a 5th round 2021 RHD prospect and a 2023 2nd made more sense ... but with him playing better I expect H&G are hoping for more of a true "hockey trade".

Have to admit I think of that as a Sens nickname, not a Habs nickname ... even if he is now a Hab

PLEASE not Chiarot ... with the Habs luck this season he would break his hand ...

I said it earlier in the year, but I've been impressed by Dauphin.
I don't mind him as a fourth liner going forward.
Absolutely agree ... all-heart, all-the-time

Yeah, he's not an NHL prospect. But he's great for Laval.
Perfect ECHL/AHL contract type

It may be less of a matter of Poehling playing badly, and more of Dauphin playing well (which he certainly has done).
Perhaps not badly ... but not well enough.

Why does a guy who has never been a fighter, and who has 3 concussions (at least), 2 of them that have been serious enough to be stretchered off the ice with long delays in the game, need to fight him? Shouldn't he be willing to fight Pezzetta, or Chiarot, or someone else?A transparent attempt by MS at self-preservation ...

Seems to be more sheltered minutes lately for #25.
Or a "speak no evil" coach ... Laurant Dauphin is getting more icetime since MSL decided to use him

All well and good until something else goes wrong and he is unhappy again.
1 hour ago, Commandant said:... Personally, I'd still look to trade him for the reasons we traded Toffoli, accelerate the rebuild by getting pieces for him and by the time we are ready to compete he will be 2-3 years older.
100% agree

It wouldn't seem to fit a rebuild/tool of the defence ... unless the plan was for him to play on the right-side ... the Habs prospect depth is in LHD ... also, unless the Hab's was by far the best offer, at 31 in May he might want a team closer to Cup contention ... or a city with neither state tax nor snow.
