Bummed to see Teasdale on the 4th. He's actually produced reasonable when healthy... I guess at least he is playing 😛

I'm guessing Chicago is doing good by the guy and giving him the opportunity to play 'at home'?
We got the better player for sure.

Canucks are 0-4 and have blown four leads. Boudreau calls them mentally weak and afraid of winning. I always enjoy it when the fanbase here in Van melts down, but even I'm feeling sorry for them at this point...
Have you watched their games? Why are they imploding with leads?

Florida's worst nightmare is happening. Ekblad down for a prolonged period. Their d core now looks realllly rough. Liking that 1st.

[Flyers] Transaction: We have recalled forward Zack MacEwen and defenseman Louie Belpedio from the Phantoms and have placed defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen on Injured Reserve.
we didn't even call up Belpedio last season lol yikes
@dlbalr does Zack MacEwen have a connection to our franchise? The name seems familiar but his hockeydb doesn't indicate anything.

Philly may also have a chance as well, but they aren’t actively selling assets for 10 cents in the dollar like Chicago is.

Lucky break on that post.
How is Dadanov this bad? Like, how did he get a $5m contract being this bad??
I'd say he is probably not in a great headspace after what Vegas pulled last season. Doesn't want to be on a bad Montreal team.

The Habs lose control over his development if they send him back to Finland. In Laval, they can manage his minutes and instruct the coaching staff to use him in certain situations. If he goes back to his team from last year, they're under no obligation to do any of that; they'll use him the way they want to even if it runs against what the Habs want. By putting him in Laval, they can also recall him if they need/want to whereas they can't if he goes back overseas.
I'd also add that given his size... He may better learn to use that advantage in the AHL than the bigger Euro rinks.

We could finish last with a goalie injury or two. Behind this depleted blue line having rough goaltending would be game over.
Actually after seeing more Philly news I take it back. Staffers getting cancer from the building, Torts named in suits for verbal-abuse of staff... Caused by miscommunication between Tortz and Fletcher.
I think Philly may have last locked up.

That ad the fact the team quit on their useless coach. I can’t see them finishing last this year. Bottom 5 - sure. But Marty will have them still show up- regardless of injuries.

I liked how he played. He is aware of the play, his head always up.
He has a quick first few steps as he was able to rush to the puck carrier when defending on the D zone.
He is lost on the ice at times, but is smart and seems to adjust
He is not intimidated and is taking it all in.
He outplayed Dadonov, Hoffman, Pitlick... which is impressive to me because it was just his first game
He will be just fine, I still would prefer he was sent down to Laval to win a cup there and develop better.
Glad it was generally positive!

Anyone have thoughts on Slaf? No special teams time limited his minutes or did he get bumped down to the line with Evans?
-
Is that the official lineup to start?
-
A)
82 30 38 14 74 B) 8
C) 26
D) 40

So injuries to start the season as far as we know...
Dadanov, Dvorak, Drouin, Anderson, Monaghan and Suzuki all game shape?
Matheson day to day lower body injury
Armia out 1-2 weeks
Heineman thumb out 6 weeks
Edmundson skated today no timeline yet
Byron likely done
Price done
So we go in carrying two extra forwards for now?

I thought his injuries had crippled him?

He can go down this year but not next.
No more nuance than that? No '20 games up he can't go down'? Just next year he can't eh?

About Primeau, how close is he to losing waiver free status?

how fortunate for Evans, Pitlick, Pezzetta to start the season on the NHL roster instead of risking being traded or waived
Has Evans not been out played this preseason?

Seeing Tatar with the two young Slovaks makes me hope the Habs can have a preseason game in Slovakia next year. Would mean alot to those two and from a team perspective be a good way to lock down a generation of young Slovak fans!

I am just answering to have a chat, do not take it too seriously.
Matheson played well tonight, on the post game they are saying that Harris seems to be ahead of Barron
So, I don't know. I can't wait for the next few games to see how they look on the ice
I hadn't taken it seriously I just wanted to make it clear I didn't think Norlinder and Fairbrother would start the season with the Habs lol.
Harris plays a more conservative game (I think) which will lend itself to making the team.
Barron would benefit a ton from playing a big role in the AHL. He has missed alot of time. The season before the pandemic in the Q he had some blood clot issues.. then pandemic.. he needs games and minutes.
He has offensive upside and should be encouraged to explore that. I feel his ceiling is higher than Harris.

with Edmundson out, I woul s say the opening night D duos are:
Matheson-Barron
Guhle-Savard
Shueneman-Wideman
With Edmundson:
Matheson-Savard
Edmundson-Barron
Shueneman/Guhle*-Wideman
I would send Guhle to Laval to play in all situations and become "THE" go-to defenseman.
My comment was mainly tongue in cheek but on the actual pairings I think you'll see Matheson-Savard as the top pairing. Though I understand wanting a vet with the young guys.. Barron would die with Matheson as a partner.
D-Men...Trades or AHL?

Does Matheson play Rd? I vaguely remember Edmonston has struggled at Rd in the past (maybe in Carolina?)
