  1. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedi....1.html?cnn=yes Other NHL teams with good uniforms (according to SI.com) : Detroit, Boston, Toronto Personally i think they're being a bit biased to original 6 teams. I think a lot of newer franchises have some excellent uniforms. For example i think San Jose's uniform/color scheme is quite pleasing. Toronto's uniform (toronto sucks) makes baby jesus cry (toronto sucks) but then again (toronto sucks) i just might be (toronto sucks) a little bit biased. Toronto sucks. Toronto sucks.
  2. That made me laugh. I can just imagine the big guy skating around, pulling off dekes, checking people into the boards, etc.
  3. Knowing how the universe works, after last game's scoring drought, this game will probably be extremely high scoring (8-9 goals scored+) Let's just hope most (if not all) of the goals are scored by the Habs
  4. Am i the only one who thinks there's a fairly good chance that Bob dumps Abby and Niinimaa, resigns Rivet to a reduced sallary and ends up with all 3 key defensemen?
  5. Tell me about it. Just look at the current front page article on NHL.com : A look inside 'Leafs Nation' Sigh.
  6. Yup, it's hard to discern the numbers on those jerseys. Even the RDS guys have said so on air. Seems like the vintage jersey has seen a lot of play this year. 2-3 times already? Hmm.
  7. Regarding Huet, just one thing to say: If you think last year was a fluke, think again.
  8. I'm not seriously proposing a mix-up of the lines, especially not with a 7-3-0 record in our last 10 games. This is merely a speculative "what-if" thread. Alex and Saku have been doing rather well together on the power play. It begs the question... maybe Special K (aka Kovalev-Koivu) should be back together for a while, perhaps until Higgins returns. It would concentrate a lot of talent on the first line, maybe too much, but i think it would be fun to see. Those two always seemed to click pretty well. They form a powerful duo that complete each other. One is a big heavy slow russian who is one heck of a sniper and the undisputed king of puck control. The other is a speedy gutsy playmaking deke machine who can also find the back of the net. What do you guys think? Just trying to stir discussion, don't actually want/expect any changes.
  9. Rivet will be ok with a salary reduction to stay with the Habs. If there's a Canadien who is the embodiement of the slogan "for the team", it's Rivet. He will stay, i'm fairly sure of that. :hlogo:
  10. Leafs lost tonight to the Bruins. The rest of Canada rejoices! Sundin is back though, oh well. Leafs ahead of Montreal by 1 but Montreal has 3 games in hand! The gap is closing fast, Leafs. Your bubble is going to burst.
  11. :puke: :puke: :puke: The Habs are such an unpredictable team. I wanted a win tonight, darnit. :puke: :puke: :puke: To philly no less. Almost stings as bad as a maple leafs loss.
  12. Update : Toronto still losing by 2 goals after the 2nd. At least there's some good news...
  13. NHL refs make me insane, KoZed. The trends/patterns are clearly starting to emerge in the new NHL. 1. If you call lots of penalties in the first and second, keep quiet in the third and let everything slide. 2. If you call a penalty, likelyhood of getting an additional penalty called in the next 2 minutes (causing a 5 on 3) increases 200% 3. If you're calling heavily against one team, give garbage penalties to the other team so that you don't look bad as a ref. 4. If you give a lot of hooking calls that are marginal and then witness a blatant hook, you will still ignore it out of fear of seeming too severe and biased. 5. If your name is McGeough, you will dish out a diving penalty for every tripping penalty, regardless if there was a dive or not
  14. The good: BÉGIN! What a PK monster. Puts his body on the line blocking some hard shots. A real trooper. The bad:: Penalty city in those last few minutes... Carbo? Bench penalty? What gives? I'm grossly unhappy with the reffing this game.. The ugly: 3 unanswered goals I ask you this: Why must the Canadiens suck in the 2nd period, game after game? This is turning into a very nasty trend...
  15. Toronto losing 0-2 to Boston Montreal leading Philly 1-0 :hlogo: Tucker The Mother F#!@%$ got plastered? Excellent
  16. Quoted for truth and subsequently repeated here in bold for emphasis: The only stat that matters is the one in the W column..
  17. Law of averages will work things out. In the meantime, the important thing is we're winning games.
  18. This game won't be a 'walk'. No NHL match is ever simple or easy. Underestimating your opponent is the worst tactical decision you can ever make. Likewise, being overconfident is equally selfdestructive. I'm confident the Habs will come out with a win tonight, but i'm not expecting it. Let's not forget: 1. Habs had little time to rest. 2. Flyers have had ample time to prepare. 3. If Huet is in net, he might be tired from yesterday, if Abby is, he might be rusty having not played much recently, etc. There are many factors to consider. All you people saying this will be a piece of cake, think twice. I don't want the boys to lose, don't get me wrong, but being too cocky will just lead to failure. Then again, what does it matter, the players are the ones playing the match tonight, not the fans :hlogo:
  19. A dude wearing one? Eeehhh. :puke: Some hot girl wearing a form-fitting pink habs jersey though... that's heaven.
  20. LOL Awesome Canadian teams are fun to cheer on too. It's unfortunate that some american teams have more canadian players than some canadian teams :/
  21. Let me be the first to say... Let's extend the streak to 4 (at home, no less)
  22. EDIT: Crap, i put this in the wrong forum by accident. Can a mod kindly move this to the NHL forum? Thanks! Was thinking about this as i checked the NHL.com scoreboard... What are your top 5 favourite teams and why? TOP 5 FAVOURITES: #1 - Canadiens Obviously! The only team i truly cheer for. #2 - Senators Poor Ottawa has always been in Toronto's shadow, disfavoured by the CBC, etc. They always play well during the regular season only to get shafted in the playoffs. Go sens! #3 - Capitals Ovechkin and Zednik. Did i mention Ovechkin? Another 'underdog' team with a few stars. Fun team to cheer on. #4 - Coyotes I don't root for Pheonix because of Gretzky, i root for Pheonix because they're so laughably terrible this season that i can't help but feel sorry for them. Seriously. #5 - Wild Not too sure why, maybe it's the Quebecers on the team, maybe it's Mikko Koivu, maybe it's a lot of things, but i like Minnesota. --------- LEAST FAVOURITE: Toronto Maple Laffs No explanation necessary. It's Toronto after all. Darcy Tucker, etc etc etc.
  23. I just crunched the numbers real quick: Huet is now #3 in GAA and #1 in save percentage: Before: 2.20 GAA .932% After: 2.11 GAA -0.09 .935% +.003% HIP HIP HUET!
  24. Extend streak to 3 games for first time! A victory tonight would be tremendous.
