You could drop the 2nd and probably change Chipchura to Halak but that would be in the ballpark. Giguere is supposedly listening but the offer has to knock his socks off before he considers asking Smyth to waive his NTC. You have to remember, you're trying to trade for easily our best player right now. That won't be cheap.
HAH! Halak has way more value than Chipchura. Smyth is NOT an elite player worthy of all of those players.
That is all

I think we all know that jaro is now the #1 goaltender and Price needs to work hard to get it back. this is a good situation for the habs.
That's a little extreme. Carbo is going with the hot hand. That's it. Goalie contraversies aggravate me.
-
We have many UFAs that will not be back next season - I hope!
Trade them for what you can get in the form of draft picks. Including Kovalev.
If there is a possibility of a star forward then I am all for it. We have needed one for ages. I love Koivu and mean no disrespect but he never was and never will be a "star forward".
Winning this year is a pipe dream. Start looking forward and do what helps us then.
Ya and he will probably take "not star money as well!" Koivu is a good little centre with great work ethic and strong faceoff prowess, If he can be signed for the right money, he he should be signed. Unless the Habs can pick up a superstar centre.
-
Tanguay now at least one more week, possibly two. Something does not feel right about him, to count on him at all this season is maybe unwise. Please prove we can do it without him lads!
If it wasn't for him and Koivu at the begining of the season, this team would be in tenth. They were fantastic together. I'm looking forward to him coming back.
-
Fuhr/Moog was another great tandem. Keep them together. Price will have to improve to get his spot back. I love it when players have to compete to get their spot in the lineup.
-
I agree with Marky. He showed up out of shape. That's it. He isn't as good as Begin, Stewart and Dandy right now. Her has to compete for his minutes just like everyone else.

Whew, thank you Jaro. Tough game to watch. Some of the penalty calls were pretty iffy, especially the Plek slash. I thought Koivu played very well, and next to Halak, could have made the difference early with that desparation play to get the puck to Plek. Plek was great, Kovy was OK, and AK 46 was lost out there. I'm sure there is a lot on his mind. I love Breezer 2.0, what great value for under a million. and the Schnide 2.0 gives a great new dimension to our PP. I didn't think Komi played that bad. He did have a ferw defensive gaffs, but I saw that burr in his saddle again for the first time in a while. He was an angry man tonight, and that's what I want from him. The last 4 games, I felt the team has played well. Tonight, Halak had to bail them out, but this is what it takes to win. If the goalie is weak, we have to score more, if the defense has a weak game, we have to either score more, or the goalie has to be amazing. Nice win. Great faceoff percentage by the Habs. I hate to say this but "Kyle who?"
Oh yeah, "Holy Crap we gotta PK again!!!"
-
I would pay 7 mill for Boumeester though.
There is no way Boumeester is a 7 million dollar man. If he is, I can guarentee that BG won't pay it. Develop PK Subaan and get Emelin on the roster. Try to sign the Schnide. That's what I would do.

I believe that Lappiere may emerge as a leader over time. He is an on ice leader. I think Komisarek should be our next Captain, with Lapierre wearing the A.
-
I'm not jumping up and down,I'm just saying it wouldn't surprise me if Gainey resigns him because he will be Plan C and the best player available to us this summer. It wouldn't be any different then all summers since the lock-out. Once again our August threads will be based on " I wonder which Kovy will show up this year" Nobody wants to play in Montreal so we will once again be signing guys left behind. Kovalev will be considered whether you like it or not.
Don't be surprised if a lot of players are nervous about testing the free agent market this year. With a massive recession and the cap certain to go down in 2010, these guys will be looking at job security. Just like you or I. I will be surprised if you see ridiculous numbers this year for players. I hope I am wrong.

Let's just say through texts and phone messages the cops find out The Boys got some coke for the all star game weekend, have been buying weed once a month, and a couple of times got hookers in the past year. How do they go about laying charges? and how steep are the penalties in these kind of situations. So no dealing of their own, just indulging. Anyone know how bad this can get?
I don't think a prosecuter would touch them unless they could get a witness. Text message evidence alone would make them look bad, but I think it would be hard to get a charge to stick on texts alone. A high price lawer would chew up the prosecution and spit them out.

Very niiiice. I like Kovy!

:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:
You're right, lets lock them up. How dare they have social lives? Clearly, you are only allowed to live like a regular person if you win hockey games.
In all seriousness, how are they being punks???? The only thing I've ever seen was a couple of pictures of players with drinks and cigarettes in their hands. Somehow, this makes them deviant, alcoholic, drug-addicted mafia rapists. The fact that this has been blown up to the point it has is just plain embarrassing for our city. This whole thing makes me sick.
Thank you. I've been wanting to chime in on this, but I've held back. Is everyone on these boards saying they don't know a bad guy? Most people know a bad guy. Until I see charges or hear evidence of something damming, I feel this is a joke. I do agree that these guys are professionals and get paid a lot of money. I agree that they are role models as well, and they should be more carefull who they associate with, but the fact remains that they are very young, and not as wise as some of us old fellers. Also someone mentioned the more relaxed Eastern European culture when it comes to things like this. This stuff has been circulating around Montreal media like crazy, made a quick appearance in national and sports websites. That is where I expect it will end, unless something substantial is revealed.

Lines
What was the best line on the ice by far against both Washington and Pitt? Kostisyn, Plekanec, Pacioretty. So it makes perfect sense for Carbo to break that up and put Kovalev on that line.
Its also a great move to keep D'Agostini playing with Koivu and Higgins, even though the line was a -4. It would be crazy for Higgins, Koivu and Kovalev to play together so that we can finally have a First Line this year.
Also, we've just discovered that Maxime Lapierre has some offensive talent. So let's put him with two guys without any hands at all. I'm sure a line with Pacioretty, Lapierre and D'Ago wouldn't overwhelm opposing teams with a good combination of speed, physicality and precise shooting. Thank heavens Carbo decided to attach a giant anchor to Pacioretty to slow him down...Coach might lose track of what's going on if the game moves too fast.
I am very disapointed in this. Kosty Plek and Pacciorety looked very good together.

There is nothing quite like a media rampage in Montreal. So far I have seen nothing other than a few guys knowing a bad guy. I am a respectable citizen of Canada, who has children and a career. I have some friends who are bad guys. Big deal.

Coyotes 1-9 in last 10.
Habs 2-8 in last ten
That is all.

There's nothing wrong with that as it relates to my standard. If someone from Calgary who is a Habs fan roots for the Flames with equal passion then that's fine. Where I draw the line is when Calgary TRULY becomes the primary team in the heart of the fan. Wanting the Flames to win is perfectly acceptable. I guess the best way to explain this is if a fan hangs up the Habs jersey in disgust, says "screw 'em" and puts on the Flames jersey as numero uno - in heart and soul.
When I lived in BC I grew to Hate the Canucks, because the fans were always on my back about the Habs. I actually love it when they lose. I get great satisfaction from it. Now that I am in Alberta, I am starting to feel the same about the Oilers, even though the Oilers have always been my number 2 team. I take so much heat for being a Habs fan, that I want the Oilers to lose, so I can taunt their fans, and send them emails in case they forgot that their team lost. Ya. I am that spitefull.

Guess Price can go back to the red pads.....or maybe try some other colour..... pretty sad when your blaming your pads. Kinda sounds like he has no clue much like the rest of the club and coaching staff
Price was awesome tonight. Wrong again Kaos
-
Yeah, they've been terrible. And even though Koivu's production hasn't returned, I've found that his line is almost always at least decent, and it isn't the one dragging the team down.
Then you didn't get to the second half where he pointlessly reminisces about a young Bob Gainey and Sam Pollock. It's Grampa Simpson level stuff.
I actually loled when I read that. Grampa Simpson. I agree, he goes into that Orr hit story that I've read and heard a hundred times. Totally useless.
-
Guess everyone can stop blaming Alex Kovalev
Its ironic that Kovalev would have been mighty usefull tonight in the shootout......Kinda losing so faith in Bob there
Huh?
Did you watch the game or just check the score later? Other than the flurry of 10 shots in the first (which was horrible, but Price was stellar) the Habs brought their lunchpails (as Mcguire said). They played a great road game. I really think this game may have been a turning point. It's one of the few losses this year where I was content and mellow. Even felt good. If this energy is carried into tommorrow and beyond, I will feel good. A win would have obviously been nice, but it was an awesome game to watch, and the boys played great. IO never did blame Kovy though. I blamed fear in the defensive zone. When your team is tentative and scared, you get caught.
-
Les Boys looked great tonight. First impression of Schneider is that he instantly stabilized the backend. Chipchura and Laraque were invisible. Great game by the rest of the team. Stewart played a really smart hard working game. Plek line ans Lap line were very good. Higgins was strong all game long.
Price= Maguire's monster. He was excellent.
I now pronounce the last month and a half as "The Red Pad Days!" I hope the red pad days are behind us.
-
Holy crap I gotta man crush on Schneider. Directing traffic more than once. So calm with the puck.
We are not worthy BOB
-
OK, here is my take on all this. If Kovy is coming back, we all know he and Saks are the leaders of the team. If there isn't going to be a trade, Koivu should ask the team how they feel about co-captaincy with Kovalev. Then bring it to Carbo. We want Alex to be co-captain with Saku. Puts all the dressing room crap to bed. The reality is that Kovy is the Co-captain anyway. This restores faith in Kovy, and shuts the media up for a while.
-
I have a major problem with what Bob did if it wasn't to keep him out due to a trade in the works. Blaming the abortion we see on the ice as of late on one guy is bloody ridiculous.
Koivu has sucked ass...producing very little...and is a joke as a leader
Markov has sucked ass
Price...has been F-ing useless
Plekanec...useless as he has been all season long
Komisarek...nowhere near good enough
Throw in some very suspect coaching, and you have a cluster###### of epic proportions with plenty of contributors to share the blame.
Koivu has looked pretty solid to me. Not great, but better than most of the forwards. Komisarek, Markov, and Price have been playing very tentative lately. This is not the Komi of last year. Laps is also not playing the way he was when everyone was injured.
If there isn't a trade, I don't know if this is the right move. Sitting Kovy. I could be wrong. I hope I am, but I hope Kovalev doesn't sulk his way through the rest of the season, sign with Pitsburgh, and hand us our ass for the next 4 years.

Hahaha, I was thinking that too! The nice thing is that if everyone passes, it should silence some of this stuff.
