  1. I feel like Begin is the real heart of this team. This team has been heartless since he's been out.

I feel the same way. The unfortunate thing is that he probably won't be the same Begin for about 10 games.

Let's hope his back is good and he won't have to favour it. I've noticed that Higgy doesn't fly into the boards after the puck anymore. He holds back.

  2. You know it's really too bad what I have been seeing lately. Montreal looked really good in the first. A few bad bounces and a crappy goal in the first and they are done. If the puck goes in in the first ten minutes when the Canadiens were actually trying, this is a different game.

Man, we need some luck too. I know we played like crap in the second and third, but this team has no freakin confidence. We need a little luck too.

I think maybe Carbo should forget about benching guys for a while too. It isn't working. I would have rather seen Sammy out there on the first line than Ryder. But I guess you can't reward whining.

I think the guys need some positive vibes in the locker room.

  3. I don't think that Ryder can hold a position on the first line, he doesn't belong their, and will never be their if he keeps up with that kind of work. Koivu, no offense isn't the greatest forward, he isn't one of the top forwards and the NHL, he is not a first liner, but people seem to be a bit blind, Kovalev plays more often then Koivu and he is on the second liner... I don't get it, Kovalev is suppose to be a first liner, but plays on a second line, but plays more time then the first liners do... I don't understand.

Not a first liner? Who is then? Koivu is the best player on the team. Plain and simple.

  4. Given the proper grooming from some brilliant 2 way players, like oh...I don't know Jarvis, Gainey, carbo, or Muller, I think Lappiere has a bright future as a habs.

    :puke:

    Positives:

    - Latendresse excelling when given ice-time

    - Bonk finally silencing the doubters

    - Huet an All-Star

    - Aebischer shining when Huet is off

    - Souray nearing 20 goals and raising his trade value (yes, I still think it will happen)

    - Carbo not being afraid to make unpopular decisions

It might not be a bad thing either. I agree that Souray may go, but I worry about the PP without him.

  5. Komisareks gotta stop taking stupid decisions.

The Carolina player doesnt even have a stick and instead of just taking the puck away he checks him and the play continues and Carolina ends up getting a good scoring chance.

    UGH

Ya but he'll think twice next time he tries flying down the left side. It's like Pavlov. " Everytime I skate hard down the left side, my ribs hurt."

  6. Ryder should be moved to the left wing. When he was scoring all kinds it was always from the left-hand side of the slot, near the edge of the circle. Put him on left wing with Kovalev and leave it at that.

Absolutely right. I don't know why he isn't shooting from there more often. His quick release from the left circle foils a lot of goalies.

  7. He may be a fair-weather kind of player - most likely to get hot when the rest of the team does. In any case, he was just an example.

That is exactly what Souray was talking about in his interview after the game yesterday. Too many players are stepping up their game when the win is practically in the bag, and they aren't showing character and stepping it up when they really need to.

  8. Of what i've seen in playoffs, he looked WAY better than Plex. Maybe you're right, but i don't see Gainey go for Forsbergh or any man with more finish than Stoll.

You might be right. I looked at his stats and they are very good for a 3rd year player. The problem is, Lowe knows what he's got, so you can forget it unless you want to deal Souray or Markov. I still say Morrison would cost less and still be very effective.

I meant he was equal to Plex in a few years, but I guess I am wrong about that.

  9. Lindros?

    WTF?

Why are we wasting board space on that guy?

if Lindros join the team i will personnaly buy a 1rst row ticket right behind the :hlogo: bench climb the window and kick Lindros ass and Gainey's also for getting Lindros with the team.

    Stoll is the man !

    Ya, what you said.

I don't know about Stoll though. He's fast as hell, but I don't know if he has the finish.

  10. brenden morrisson, Stoll or horcoff,Daymond langkow- Matt Lombardi. Any of these would be fantastic. I would recommend Morrison and Lombardi as the best fit for the team. I grew up in BC, so I've seen Morrison play for years. He has the odd low productivity period, but for the most part he is consistent.

  11. Huet is back. That is the biggest momentum changer of all. He has made at least 5-10 spectacular saves. If Huet doesn't play the way he is, this game is totally different. I do think the lines look good though. The only problem is that the shut down line is broken up. Lats and Kovy look awesome together.

Lappiere is winning a lot of face-offs too. I think if he is groomed properly, he will be a very good 2 way centre ( a la Carbo, Gainey, Lamaire)

  12. You know what guys. The habs should go back to the line-up that was winning now that everyone is back

    Koivu with Ryder and Higgins

    Plekanec with Kovalev and Samsonov

    Bonk with Johnson and Perezhogin

and because Begin is out Lapierre with Streit and Latendresse.

I know Latendresse is doing well but he can still get powerplay time. This was the line up that was winning and it may be just what the doctor ordered to get them out of this funk.

I was thinking the same thing.

  13. or easier Put Koivu between the two Russians

Wow give up on the whole Koivu-Kovalev scenario. The only way they will play together is special teams and when we are desparate for a goal. If they play together, they will both play against the best Defensive players on the other team and get shut down a lot of the time. They are better off separate. That is why I like the 3rd line right now. It's hard to cover 3 powerful lines.

  14. I would like to see Higgins on the 2nd as well but move Kovalev to the 1st. He plays well with Koivu.

Bad idea. Having all your power on one line makes it easy to defend against. Especially with teams that have a good shut down line. Spread the strength out and wear down the "D" with 3 powerful lines.
