    I hope this puts the end to the argument, who's the real number 1 for the Canadians is. Abby has always been a choker when the pressure is on.

    I would hardly blame Abby.. the team has played like crap in front of him. Its not like those goals are guys beating him one on one. The Habs Defense has let the Avs get all the rebounds, all the nice cross crease passes, etc. Only the third goal could even remotely be called his fault, but even then, not sure what he could really do with 3 guys bearing down on him.. He almost got the second shot.

    The Habs need to start skating. Another crappy first period by this group. :(

    yeah it was a nice goal too...too bad he didnt do that with us :P ...but im glad he his successfull over there

    He did do that for us. While last year was an off season for Ribs, are you forgetting his pre-lockout season where he led the Habs in points.

    As a habs, people always compared him to Koivu, but if you compared Ribs to other 2nd line centers in the league, his point production was very decent. Also consider that he rarely had decent wingers with him. When he had Kovy last season, his production picked up, but even then, he had a merry go round of left wingers, including Bulis, Dags, and other offensive nightmares. He also did pretty well with Ryder, who is just the kind of winger he needed.

    Now I understand that Ribs was on the trading block for various reasons, but I think the trade was a mistake because we didn't get enough or the what we needed. I was hoping Riberio plus another would yield us an upgrade at center, not another defenseman. Time will tell, but I sure hope Gainey has a plan to upgrade us at center soon.

    I think Pleks needs to go down to the 3rd line and put up Bonk. We need to get Sammy and Kovy going, they are the offensive guys we are counting on. Both of them have goals that they essentially produced as individuals. That line has yet to do anything "together'.

    Pleks speed is useless on that line. Ribs was not too slow for that line, he fit right in. Kovy is an east-west player who hangs on to the puck. A speedy center just waits at the blue line while Kovy takes him time. :)

    I would give Bonk a shot at the 2nd line and start hunting for another center. Every analyst is saying we are weak down the middle and it is obvious. Riberio had issues, but trading him away didn't make our center line up better, it made it worse. The second part of that move (getting a better center then Ribs) is still needed.
