This is where we need a begin to score, or maybe a short handed goal to break the back of the canes.
One thing is for sure, they have to play with more discipline in the third.

What is really good is that the scoring and points were all over. Many players picked up their play and got points. Having that kind of offense is a killer against teams.
Let's hope Gerber plays just as badly for the rest of the series.

Put Ryder with Joe Thorton and you might just have another 50 goal scorer in the league.
I also think people are being pretty hard on Ribs. He stuggled at times, but so did every player on the team. He makes a third of what Koivu does and his point totals were well in line for a decent 2nd line center. Sure, we could get a better second line center (for more money), but the same could be said for our first line center.
If we are judging based on expectations, Ribs is at least a C. I also think his game improved immensely with Guy and Gainey behind the bench, which is a very good sign, imo.

Its getting worse. Ryder just gets leveled in front of the net and gets called for goaltender interference... just bizarre... again, the Ottawa homers can't understand the call against Ryder. If anything, he was interfered with ...

I hate complaining about the refs but Koharski is just terrible. He has blown 4 penalty calls tonight.
I guess he is in a slump...

Bad play by Koivu... but that was no penalty by Dandy.. that was not a hook.. even sportsnet the Ottawa homers agreed that was a bad call..

That goal set a new career high in points for Souray at 36.
Pretty good for a year marred with off-ice problems.
Agreed.. Souray has really come around and is playing well. At the start of the season some people wanted him dumped for a bag of pucks. Just goes to show its a long season and everyone can have a slump.
Good.. Neil has been warned several times by the ref, about time they sent him to the box for it.

They called Komi a diver and then claimed that both Ribs and Bulis did goaltender interference on the last goal...

The Ribeiro line gets hemmed in for minutes at a time, since the line was put togehter, with Murray or Bulis. It's ridiculous. I've notice it consistently 3 or 4 times a game over the past 2 weeks
Thats funny, most of the time I have noticed them putting the most offensive pressure on. While they are hardly our defensive line, they have been playing plus hockey the last 15 games...
All lines get hemmed in from time to time. Right after I commented on the Koivu line, our third line spent their shift hemmed in too. I think is has more to do with Ottawa putting more effort in then any of the lines, Ribs line included.
They all better step it up in the 2nd and start winning those battles for the puck.. or this is a repeat of the NJ game.

Ribs line? The Koivu line just spent their entire shift hemmed in... its the whole team right now....
And the giveaway in the neutral zone by Ribs was minor, his whole line was behind him... should he never try to deke a guy when he is the leading player?

Simple,... .they didn't play 60 minutes. They got cocky after the first and started playing dumb....
I don't give them much chance of coming back.. you just can't give away that kind of momentum and expect to get away with it.
