It was great to see Laine score to get off to a great start...high hopes for him and that fantastic shot of his. Dach...ugh, the more I see of him the more I wonder how many more games it will take for him to get up to speed mentally and physically. He's still really bad. I agree with the Newhook sentiment; he's on line 3 when Demidov arrives IMO, and that seems to be where he belongs.

Feels so good to see Caufield burying pucks.
-
This is hard to watch. Matheson should be sat down for the remainder of this game, and Primeau should be sent down until his contract expires.
-
I've seen enough for tonight. Embarrassing effort level for a Saturday night game against a rival.
-
TWO SHOTS....are you kidding me?!
-
Blown opportunity for a win tonight; the top 6 failed to produce a goal on a night when the bottom 6 got the job done. This is disheartening. I really thought this team would be significantly better than they were last season, but so far it's not looking that way.

Just a poor effort all round. Sorry but Xhekaj is not a d-man on anything other than a bottom feeder.
The more I see of Xhekaj's lack of development as he struggles, the more I think that he should be converted to a 4th line winger.

We looked pretty good up until the last 4min or so. Glad Caufield got one to stay hot, but he could have had 4 tonight with a little bit more luck. I agree with the sentiment that Hutson should have far more assists this season, but has teammates who can't finish his beautiful set-ups.

As bad as the score was, the Rangers hit a hell of a lot of posts and it probably should have been 10 against. Habs really shit the bed tonight.

Tonight's game felt like many games did last season; a failing powerplay, scrambly d-zone play, and a pop-gun offense 5 on 5. The silver linings were Hutson looking great for 30 minutes, and Monty bailing them out early on to keep them in it for longer than they deserved to be in it.
-
Monty, Caufield, and Hutson stood out the most to me. Glad the losing streak to Ottawa is over.

Barron still seems shaky to me.
I see the same...doesn't appear do be doing anything very well. Hopefully won't need to rely on him too often this season.
-
Monty looking wall-like. I would like to see less defending and more push for a 3rd goal in the final period.

I wasn't saying you. SBhatt is not being sarcastic, yours I could tell.
I wasn't. This is not based on just tonight, mind you, but is my opinion of his entire body of work at the NHL level. I don't think he's a strong enough backup to have cemented his position. I just don't see enough solid performances out of him to believe there's significant upside just around the corner. Management should actively be seeking to upgrade, because we do not want to play Montembeault into the ground...but we want a realistic chance of winning on the nights he's resting

It's hard to blame Primeau when the team is playing this bad in front of him.
The heck it is. The team is playing badly, but 2 goals against were horrid...and you can argue a 3rd should have been stopped. Even if we just hang 2 on Primeau, it's a one goal game and there's still a chance if he had just done his job.
-
3 soft goals. Before the game I figured they'd need 4 to get a point because Primeau was playing, but that wouldn't have been enough. Give Dobes a shot going forward.
-
Primeau is not an NHL goaltender...this stupid prolonged experiment needs to end.

They need to tighten up defensively tonight...very unlikely that Primeau has the sort of heroics in him that we saw from Montembeault last night.
-
I agree with those calling for Hutson to be promoted to PP1.
-
I hope Marty impressed the need to stay out of the box on them during the intermission. Everything else looks solid.

Dosent Gallagher 'deserve' to get more ice than Anderson.
He had a decent finish to the season, but on many nights Gallagher was just as useless as Anderson.

This team is cursed...no doubt about it anymore.

From what I read, it wasn't a motorcycle accident...they were riding bicycles and were killed by a drunk driver, who attempted to right-hand-side pass another driver that had moved over to give them space. The night before their sister's wedding too...just horrible.

Feels like a steal if Laine is even halfway good for us. Rid ourselves of a low end D prospect and got a 2nd round draft pick in return as well...that's a nice piece of GM work.

About what I expected....the bigger, better team wore them down as the game progressed. I'm glad that Caufield got one at least. Matheson looked weak on two goals, and Savard looked terrible on another. Going 0-for on breakaways hurt.
