  1. I think a few of the younger players made Carbo's next round of cuts much easier. Chipchura and Kostitsin didn't show much out there, and I'm having a hard time remembering which other prospects did anything to indicate they deserve to stick around with the exception of Latendresse and Price. Why not get rid of those who are obviously nowhere near ready now, and play a mostly veteran lineup from here on out? It would allow the lines to get clicking and go into the reg. season with some good momentum.

  2. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

A lot of guys out there playing like they didn't give a damn.

As far as prospects, based on what I saw tonight, Latendresse and Price were the only ones that looked like they could contribute anything to the big club in the immediate future.

The Leafs just played harder for the most part, and that's why they won...period.

Encouraging to see Koivu looking like his old self, and Streit looking really good offensively, but that's about all I took away from this game from a positive standpoint.

  3. The Leafs aren't making the playoffs this year....not with Atlanta having reliable goaltending this year, Florida improving their firepower, and Boston being much better. I predict they'll be realistically done with at least 3 or 4 weeks remaining in the season.

  4. I think it's important that the coaching staff give Latendresse a 'carrot' to chase if he indeed does dominate at camp only to get sent back to junior. They have to send him back knowing that if he keeps doing what he does while at the same time improving his speed, he'll be a keeper next year. If he can get faster, he will be a dynamite player for this team.

  5. that would be collusion. :o

Gentleman's agreement my ass...it is collusion, plain and simple, and it is wrong. There's nothing wrong with giving a RFA an offer sheet if you feel they are worth X dollars over Y years. After all, without that mechanism in place, there's nothing 'free' about being a RFA!!!

  6. Hi,

My friend and I have season tickets, and are looking to sell some games. If interested in any regular or preseason games, you can drop us a line at captainbenjaminlwillard@gmail.com.

Sorry for the sameless plug as my first post on habsworld!

Hmmm....maybe there should be a Ticket Forum added for this purpose. It'd be good for putting those with season tix wanting to sell some games in touch with those looking for some single games.

  7. This Gibbons character seems like a real A-hole...I'm glad he got a bloody nose out of the deal.

BTW....can you imagine if he'd tried this challenge-to-a-fight shit on oldschool Blue Jay George Bell? I'll never forget George charging the mound and throwing a jumping side-kick at a pitcher with his cleats. Those were the days!

  8. Really, the Russians should just take the 200K per player settlement and be thankful they're getting anything. Given their labor law, anyone can leave at anytime (with a two-week waiting period) for NOTHING unless there's a transfer agreement in place. North American courts will never side with them with their own laws the way they are, as they are about to find out when their attempt to sue over Malkin is thrown out of court. Once that happens, they're up that proverbial creek without a paddle. Heck, the NHL should do what it did to their players...threaten that if the Russians don't take this offer, the next one will be worth even less.
