I don't think that the Habs can afford to pay Koivu any more than 3-3.5mil at the top end of whatever contract they offer him. There are too many other voids to be filled to invest too much into a guy who is realistically a #2 center. If they can get Koivu at 3, then have 4 or 5 left to offer for a real #1....the team would only need one solid stay-at-home no frills defenceman to be a serious threat.

Ok...I hate Koharski as much as anyone....but Koivu and Begin both deserved their penalties. Koivu should know that you can't just wrap your free arm in front of someone (that in itself will get you the gate every time), let alone use it to mess with their stick. Begin's stick caught a guy in the mouth...pretty hard not to call that. A lack of concentration on the parts of Koivu and Begin cost us the game, not biased officiating.

My vote goes to Zednik...he just doesn't seem to have that explosive speed that made him a threat anymore.

JR is the best personality in the NHL by leaps and bounds. He has a 'Cherry-esque' charisma that makes people watch what he's doing whether they love him or hate him.

I've seen justintb play...he's 216lbs with great speed...don't be so sure.

So far, Gainey has been nothing short of incompetent. I understand that mortgaging the team's future to scrape by into the 8th spot only to get steamrolled in the first round would be stupid. But why not make some small, lateral moves to change the team chemistry a little? Inject a few players that are hungry to prove themselves into the lineup, and just maybe it will be contagious. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Ok...so the Habs lost...but at least Huet played well enough to keep them in the game. Can't say that about Theodore too often.

The team quit tonight after they realized it was going to be a typical Theo effort. He has to go...he's bringing everyone down!

Theodore is a bum...plain and simple. The guy repeatedly makes mental mistakes that result in bad goals...which in turn deflate the rest of the team and lead to blowouts like the one tonight. The Habs quit tonight, and with Theo playing the way he did, can you really blame them? Why knock yourself out when you know the goalie is going to lose you the game no matter how hard you play?

Nolan looked slow in the clutch/grab NHL...can't imagine how bad he'd look out there now.

I think it is time for Zed to go. He has been lacking the speed that made him dangerous in the past this season, and appears to be going through the motions more often than not. Zed has been a passenger too many nights, floating around contributing nothing. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out....

If there are wiretaps that prove Gretz knew about it, then that might be enough to get him barred from coaching. Can't very well have someone who likes to put action on games be the guy deciding who gets the start in goal and who plays/who sits. Sure, maybe he hasn't bet on hockey...YET...but can they take the chance that he won't?
