  1. I think that we could get away with an average effort if only our power play would start clicking again. An additional power play goal or two in the past 3 games would have had us in the driver's seat or had the series won outright.
  2. And, btw...I have disagreed with Bob, but I'd definitely stop short of calling him an idiot. I'm sure he learned a thing or two playing as part of the dynasty.
  3. Gainey: I believe he won his rings under Scotty Bowman and then his last one under Jean Perron. Neither of those guys were stiffs. Carbo: Won his cups in Montreal under Perron and Demers. Won his cup in Dallas under Ken Hitchcock. These guys are all exciteable types. I'm not saying that coaches that are very calm and quietly cerebral can't win...but coaches like that usually require a certain type of team. This group of Habs needs at the very least a 'shot in the arm' type coach, if not a 'kick in the ass' type coach, from what I've seen of them thus far. If we even had a Mark Messier type player that could fulfill that role for Bob, it might work....but I don't see there being anyone in that room with that type of presence.
  4. We DON'T HAVE TIME....we're swirling around the damn bowl and are about to get flushed! :puke:
  5. I dislike Bob as a coach too....he's such a damn statue....no emotion. Is it any wonder he can't fire this team up???
  6. I hope the Habs crash the net hard and D-men pinch on each and every shift from now til the end. Better to go all-out and try to win than worry about getting scored on and meekly go out 2-1.
  7. Total lack of effort fighting for the puck after the shoot-ins on that power play.
  8. I hope the other forwards learned something from the Kovalev shot...just hammer it at the damn net!!! It doesn't take a cutesy cross-ice onetime highlight reel goal to score...just a shot...a good shot on net when there is traffic is all it takes.
  9. There were plenty calling for Kotsisyn to be put in.
  10. Someone already mentioned it, but it rings so true, I'll repeat it: with Carolina playing a collapsing defense, we need to feed the pointmen for shots!!! Turn what is a defensive strength against the down-low game into a weakness; those checkers become screens on point shots.
  11. I hate that Bob's answer for a team struggling to score was putting Downey in the lineup.
  12. Have to put this in perspective. At the start of the series, I predicted Habs in 6. Winning the first two raised expectations, but in all actuality, being 2-2 after 4 games is right where I figured we'd be before the puck dropped in game 1. Win with another strong road game tonight, then stick the fork in them at home right on schedule....then start worrying about the Sens.
  13. We're gonna see some hits now.... I hope Begin catches Williams with his head down a-la Umberger.
  14. I'm already on record (see game thread) as stating that one of the Habs needs to send that message, since the referees clearly won't.
  15. Yeah, let's shy off of a two-minute roughing penalty...because that carries more concequence than losing another player to a stick-inflicted injury...
  16. I don't even want to get into that...I'm at the point where I'd condone some vigilante justice on Williams. If the refs aren't going to protect the players by calling dangerous plays, then I don't see how they have any choice but to police the game themselves old-school style. ...and let me add, NOT justice by high-stick. I'm talking about a good ol-fashioned punch in the mouth.
  17. Maybe it should be triple or quadruple posted....especially on the blackboard in the Habs' dressing room, because not doing so while the Canes did was the difference tonight.
  18. We need to get a cycle going in their end, and have one man CRASH.
  19. That was a sad effort....Habs were brutal in their own end, and looked anemic on the forecheck for the most part.
  20. I'd say the right call was made....the Cane in the crease put his skate right between Huet's legs and pushed him aside to make the gap he put the puck through. Clear cut case of goaltender interference. Why VanMassenhoven could't see it, I don't know.
  21. If Bob has some great motivational speech tucked away that he's been saving for a rainy day, he better bust it out NOW....because it's pouring!
