Huge goal by 11. The top line needs to break through...we need both points tonight.
-
I wonder if throwing a little under the table cash at the GM of SKA Saint Petersburg would get Demidov released the minute his team is eliminated?
-
A couple of big things happened in that game. Secondary scoring showed up, and showed up big. The team did not let the awful goal against sink them...they fought back hard right away. To win against a hungry team on a night where many things aren't going according to plan is a big step for this group; they found a way, and that's what good teams do.

Crazy momentum swings in this game. I will be the first to admit that I had given up on that last powerplay. For the love of God, boys...hang on!!!
-
I don't think I've ever seen a wrist shot rip a goaltender's stick out of his hand with such violence before...it was way over in the corner!

The right pick would have been Quinn Hughes as I said at the time.
Hughes definitely turned out to be the best player from that draft, but most scouts had Tkachuk higher, so Bergy and Co. could be forgiven for taking Tkachuk if they had. The insane Kotkaniemi pick...that's another story.

That was a well played game against a good team tonight. Caufield stayed hot, Laine did his thing on the PP, Nick and Slaf both got a point, and Hutson got another assist to continue his assault on the rookie D-man record book. That checks all of the boxes for me.

You want to get the center. Shortage of them. Martin be good pick. Most prospects don't live up to expectations, you want depth
This type of thinking is why we drafted Kotkaniemi over Tkachuk. NEVER AGAIN!!! BPA always from here on out.

Damn...what a letdown.

I am glad I didn't tune out when they looked terrible in the 1st. Slaf needs to shoot more often...his past two goals should encourage him.
-
Played like bums for the first 38min of the game. It's hard to win when you squander that much time.
-
Terrible effort outside of the last minute and change of the 2nd. Dobes has held them in...hope they find a way in the 3rd.
-
An absolute steal...great news.
-
I got almost everything I asked for on my wish list, and a fight was the least important item on the list so I'm happy.

I'm heading to Montreal for the game shortly....hoping for 4+ Habs goals, Caufield to snipe one, a point or two for Suzuki, a helper or two from Hutson, and for Wifi to beat down Greenway.

Accountable for barely touching him?
I'd rather he not take an instigator. If Greenway is willing to go, sure... but if he isn't Xhekaj has to stay disciplined and not take the extra penalty, not for that, and not if they think they are playing meaningful hockey.
Of course I don't mean that Wifi should mug him. He should make a big show of challenging him though, to make it hard for Greenway to decline...and to make Greenway look like a 🐱 if he declines. Barely touching him doesn't matter; he did touch him, and you can't have teams thinking it's ok to get up in your tender's face to intimidate him / shove him. That's a hard red line.
-
Alright road win, but I hope the team looks sharper in the rematch on Monday as I'm heading to that game. Wifi must hold Greenway accountable for making contact with Dobes at first opportunity.
-
It was nice to see Suzuki's hot streak continue, and good God what an OT winner from Caufield!

Slafkovsky deserved that goal. He has been playing hard all game so far
He has looked great...an absolute beast when plays with intensity.

Laine needed that.

Typical Matheson.

They flat out stink. Wonky defensively, and can't score.

Game #68 - Montreal Canadiens @ New York Islanders

I second the notion that Dobes should probably get the next start...that's two games in a row where Monty has given up bad goals. He looks tired...a couple of days off would do him some good.
