  1. OMFG is that Kovalev? So Carbo benches him when we need his offense and then puts him back on at the end of the game...way to teach him a lesson

I have idolized Carbo like the rest of you and love his flair...but he has LOST THIS TEAM.

I dont like being negative, but I mean, when does this end.....it's almost too late now

Last year the light at the end of my tunnel was firing Julien because I thought he had lost the team.

And it worked. But I cannot see any situation where Carbo gets fired.

    Leafs lose in OT

  2. Emery pulls a Perezhogin and gets only 2 minutes?

Bouillon gets punched in the face and gets 4 minutes?

    8 penalties to the habs?

It aint the refs ehh... ###### THE REFS RUINING EVEYR SINGLE ######IN GAME

We have been getting shafted but we have also taken some ridiculous offensive zone lazy penatlies.

What Emery did should have been a double minor at worst.

  3. Now is when you want a tie, but NOOOOOOOOO, some folks just couldn't stand ties.

You keep waiting for the luck to turn, for somebody to do something special.

    A big save, a big hit, a big goal....and it happens...and.....nothing.

We are not firing the coach, and if we do not make a deal, what is going to turn the tide???

When is somebody going to step up?

I mean the Leafs are down 3-0 and scratch their way to a 4-3 lead and we take a 2-2 tie and mail in the 3rd?

  4. I'm afraid Carbo's going to turn us into a team of pluggers and grinders.

He seems to have a problem "slotting" his available talent correctly... it's not rocket science - put your 1st line talent (or the closest we have) on the 1st line, and so on and so on.

Closest we've got to 1st line talent is Higgins - Koivu - Kovalev. Make that your 1st line Carbonneau and goddam well stick with it for a while.... and give them 1st line minutes. Our 2nd line talent is Latendresse - Plekanec - Ryder. 3rd line is back to the good old reliable Perezhogin - Bonk - Johnson. And 4th, Streit - Lapierre - whoever.

    We need some stability here.

I still wonder why they have not put Koivu and Kovalev together for any period of time, They lit it up in the playoffs in 2004 and the 2 of them with Perezhogin started off last season like gangbusters.

    Worth a shot, Non?

  5. Whatever. I'm sticking by it that we will make the playoffs whether we make a move or not (dressing Perezhogin would be a good start though). But it's really impossible to make an argument for that sort of thing. Just a prediction. As of now, a playoff spot is ours to lose.

I have been over all the probabilities and at one point to get to 93 points which was a playof spot last year we had to essentially collapse to get there. Guess what, we have no more margin for error.

A .500 finish would squeak us in at an 8th seed maybe, but when you are fighting for 4th all season that does nto seem good enough. WE need to recapture the magic or we will be the same old Montreal Canadiens of the last 10 years. Hoping for a 1st round upset and getting balsted in the 2nd round.

I am getting used to it. The years of 95-110 points are quickly fading from my memory.

  6. Read ALL the posts, man. I shouldn't have to repeat myself every time. There's a difference between questioning a decision and whining for no reason whatsoever. A post only saying "what a bunch of losers" is just one example. Also, stop saying I'm blindly supporting our team. I can just as easily accuse of blindly going against everything habs. But I don't - anyways, like I said, I couldn't care less if you like the team or not, because at the end of the day, I will be having fun watching an exciting sport and you will still be whining.

I'm not whining. I am pointing out that complaining about your team's performance is normal.

This team is far from perfect, and I do not waste 82 nights a year watching them to put my head in the sand when they stink the joint out or play with a lack of passion and watch the coach benching players left right and center and placing guys on waivers in a lack of understanding of how to fix the problem.

Nothing is working, so that leaves 2 options. You let Carbo try to work it out and put your faith in your farm system for next year if he fails to figure it out this season OR you try to make a deal to save the team this year. Gainey will not Fire Carbo, so somebody has to pull something out of their hat.

Anything can happen, the season is about streaks. But last season we were 5 pts worse at this point but we also ripped off a 9 game win streak at the end of the year.

    RICK WAMSLEY

Loved Denis Herron, Rick Wamsley and Steve Penney when I was a kid.

  7. Could it be it Montreal, I mean the atmosphere, I'm starting to wonder seriously what a coach has to do to make it in this town.

(well, 'that' town, I'm not there anymore, was speaking figuratively,)

    Could it be:

    1) Problem that the sports media is everywhere?

    2) Problem that good pot is everywhere?

    3) The fans are too fanatical/demanding?

    4) Fault with the Habs organization, too big/bureaucratic?

    5) Other?

Maybe Carbo can work though this and the Habs come out the better for it, let's hope :hlogo:

I think overating our talent is probably the biggest problem on this team.

This season began to fall apart when Huet stopped stealing wins.

And if he does not step up and steal us some wins down the stretch like he did last year.

Guess what, we willl be not watching playoff hockey this season.

We rode Huet and special teams for 3 months and now 2 of the 3 have disappeared.

12 PPG against in the last 6 games? If we had cut half of those out we would not be having

    these discussions.

  8. hey, if they wanna call themselves fans, they can but it's their loss... but it's like someone who's afraid of heights taking up skydiving for a hobby.

by the way.. why would you play hockey with Leafs fans? lol

If you define a fan as somebody who never questions their team and their management and blindly follows at all times then the Greatest Fans in the World are LEAF FANS, not habs fans.

  9. Yes, but my point is he could have listed these points for the last 5 years and it would be the same. There have been 3 or 4 coaches in that time. Beleive me, it's the players.

If it is the players then what is the coach for?

Why did Gainey turn a team around that was stinking the joint out for 2 months with Claude Julien the great coach of the Devils?

Maybe you coach to your players and not your system.

  10. Again, Lapierre has not scored in like more then a month. Johnson? Isnt he a 3rd liner? Bonk ok...hes good at controling the puck down low. Niinimaa? Isnt he a 8th dman? Dandenault? Whens the last time he scored?

    A sane coach would put

Higgins Koivu Bonk Kovalev and Souray.

NOT Lapierre Johnson Bonk Dandenault Niinimaa.

    How stupid is that?

Desperate, not stupid. That is a move from a desperate coach.

Carbonneau is not going anywhere, and seems clueless as to how to

get this thing back on track. Barring a jolting move this team is in big trouble.

This started 6 weeks ago as well what do you want?

Us not to lose more than 2 in a row all year?

into well they had the flu.

    into we have a cushion,

and has regressed into where the hell is our first line?

    what happened to Huet?

and now fighting desperately for 8th not 4th.

  11. Addition from subtraction.. sammy was a cancer to the team and i hope he stays down in hamilton for the rest of the season. NOBODY WILL PICK HIM UP.. tho he might be a worth a risk in re-entry, IF da habs wanna pay half his salary... IMO, he'll be spending the rest of the season in house league.

He's da next vagenais. Adios... farewell, dont let da door hit ur a$$ on da way out!

They will not attempt to recall him.

It is as simple as this, they are sending him down knowing that if somebody claims

him his salary is off the books and that if nobody claims him his salary does not

count against the cap. Either way it is a clear indicator that they are freeing up

    salary to make a move.

He will finish the season in Hamilton if he clears. Win/Win if you ask me.

  12. They play with that type of effort every night and they will finish in 4th or 5th.

Nothing like a little anger to get you to raise your game.

They outshot a team who essentially had a half period PP. They outworked and outplayed them

We have not been able to say that much in the last 6 weeks.

I also would love Lapierre to turn into a superpest. I loved the fact that he caused all types of shit,

I am also intrigued into what Carbo has seen in him to give him the responsibilty of shadowing Crosby.

A tough loss for sure, but a great motivational tool to raise the level of their game.

I think we just turned the corner boys!!

  13. Does anyone really think it is a coincidence that while the Pens are in negotiations with Pittsburgh, they are winning all their games on PP chances?

Something really stinks in this league...

THe Habs have turned it up since the 7 minute PP, but I got a feeling that Koharksi will show up when we least need it in this game

  14. According to McGuire.. this is awesome hockey....

wow, he is truely an idiot...

McGuire rarely has something nice to say about Montreal.

Last year on their playoff run he kept saying they will not make it.

Then this year he said Huet had been figured out and that Souray was not good enough for the NHL.

And now he is all over Crosby's jock all night.

    Typical Mcguire
