  1. I'm very happy with these signings. Dogs are getting stronger every day. And therefore, so are the Canadiens. However, I have two problems/theories/ideas. 1.) Michaud won't make the jump to AHL next season. Fichaud and Damphousse will be the net minders. How does that work? Can anyone tell me? Will Michaud be stuck in the QMJHL for the rest of his life? Or will he move to ECHL with the Cottonmouths next season? And the other thing... I like these h'ordeouvres, but now Im hungry. I'm in for some Koivu and potatoes, or Markov burger. Dwyer chips? Hell, maybe even a Ribeiro pie to finish off. Seriously, I want signing, and I want it now
  2. Haha, I didn't realise that. But still... Brisebois: I didn't say that we wouldn't get anything back in return. However, Souray is an extra defensemen that we haven't had in a while. He could replace Brisebois. Perreault: I think Ribeiro is doing well enough at the 2nd line Centre position, and between him and Perreault, he's (a) cheaper, (B) younger and © a playmaker. I'm sure that if we give him a full season, he could get close to Perreault's points. Sure, Perreault could stick around as 3rd line C for the moment, but do you really think he can be that defensive? I don't. Audette: Again, we could get something in return. Given enough chances, the kids will perform. And I'd rather take a chance on a kid than another one on Audette. Dackell: Roster is constricting. I don't hate Dackell, but Sundstrom is an upgrade. He could even get us a mid-round pick too. Dykhuis: The only reason his contract wasn't bought out (yet) is because he will be traded. not sure who or when, but I really hope he does not play for the Habs again. Our defense is too full Traverse: Fine, gone from the Montreal Canadiens, not from the Organization. Rot in Hell, er, Hamilton, that's what I say. Maybe he even does well with no expectations? Blouin: You all don't want him either. At least that's agreed on. IMO, Higgins will take over the 3rd line checking centre sometime in the future. Juneau is as good as gone, and I regret I haven't added him in my signature. I will fix that soon enough. I appreciate what Perreault has done for us, but one by one, the old guys are taking a seat (or a walk) to let the young guys play. A Youth Revolution is on its way, and we will reap the benefits in the future
  3. You heard it here first. With a stacked team, Colorado is looking like the 2003-04 SC champ already. But without Roy, people might be doubtful. I think I can safely say that I am the first poster to predict Aebischer putting up similar stats to marty Turco. Oh well, we'll wait for the summer to finish first though. Potvin to COL might be happening...
  4. My respect for Kariya has increased 100x over the last month. The recovery from the Scott Stevens hit... The leadership on the Anaheim team... Going to a team for almost a 10th of his former salary... And making the CBA negotiations much better next year. Kariya is now up there with Lemieux and Gretzky (IMO) for the most respected NHL player. It sets an example for the younger players who were looking for cash over glory. Sure, Colorado might be a great team (even without Roy), but he even defies his buddy Selanne, who makes 3x more than him. Paul Kariya, you da man!
  5. I guess my first idea was a bit constricting. So instead, it'll be the starting lineup for Hamilton. Ryder-Higgins-Milroy Hainsey-Beauchemin Michaud ___________________________________________ Where's the Bulldog's Smilie?
  6. ... That only has players who haven't played for the Montreal Canadiens, but are in Montreal's organization. In other words, what you think Hamilton's starting line-up will be, with a tweak. Here's an example: Perezhogin-Plekanec-Balej Shasby-Archer Michaud Simple enough. Give it a go. BTW, now that I look at HF, our defense looks pale in comparison to our offence. We have 2 full forward lines of forwards rated 7+/10, but only 2 D. I guess Markov counts as a young player, so that's 3 D, but then so does Ward, which makes almost 3 full forward lines of 7+/10 players. I have a hunch that we'll aquire a young defensemen, particularily a prospect D, before the start of the 2003 season. Fair enough? [Edited on 2003/7/2 by TheAussiePosse]
  7. Where are the threads with misleading titles? What are the similar threads? See if you can find one. Or since it's plural, find more than one. You might have a little difficulty there. Oh, wait, that's right. There are none. :eyes:
  8. I hope you do. And the next time someone dies, a little more respect would work well too. I understand it might have been funny under different circumstances, but still... Respect the dead, and I won't post misleading titles about NHLers who share names with famous people who die. Deal?
  9. Do you think that a team might want Dykhuis? THat might be the reson he hasn't been bought out. Or else Gainey wants to give him a second chance. I hope not. Actually, the only thing bad about losing McKay and Czerkawski is that now we don't have a good sniper and a good hitter on NHL 2003. And since Ward isn't good enough to go 1st line yet, and the same with Hossa and Ribeiro... Oh well, Kilger's still here. Now time to sign Dwyer. ____________________________________________ Wow, what a random post. Edit: Added text [Edited on 2003/7/3 by theAussiePosse]

  11. Please edit it to say "Buddy Hackett", not just Hackett. While it would make free agency a bit more interesting, a lot of us still respect Jeff, and the thought of him dying, well, it isn't worth the practical joke. Thanks
  12. Day 1: Red Wings came to terms with McCarty... But he's still UFA, right? and I'm royally pissed off about Desjardins. I had that picked. ______________________________________ Day 2: Hackett gone. I thought that'd happen at the start of the summer, but i was trying to be creative. It just emphasizes Burke going to Boston. And Cassels resigns... And Kilger resigns (someone picked that. It was a good pick) Oh well, look forward to tomorrow. Maybe, if we lose Brisebois, we can get Yuskevich? Opinions? [Edited on 2003/7/2 by TheAussiePosse]
  13. From another habs's Board: That would be 2/3 of: 2.600 (Czerkawski) 2.125 (McKay) 1.500 (Dykhuis) 0.842 (Traverse) ________________ 7.67 x 2/3 ________________ $5.11 million IMO, it would be cheaper to shove Traverse in Hamilton, especially with his low salary. I was surprised to see McKay's name in there, as he said he'd be 'better' next season, and AS loves him like a son. I would prefer Juneau's name there instead (salary: $2.025 million). It would make sense with the remaining players, Czerkawski and Dykhuis, although if Czerkawski goes to Europe, who we don't have to pay. Maybe it'll turn out to be a staring contest, in which Bob gainey desperately tries to trade him over the summer. Keep in mind Brisebois is yet to be traded, and that's $4 million of good money. And as long as we didn't get any NHL players in return (so just picks), that'd be a huge chunk back of the buy out. And then there's the chance of Perreault going, and Dackell, and Souray, etc. Unfortunately, how reliable is Chantelois?
  14. SIGN OLEG!!!! HE'S UFA!!! QUICK, BEFORE CHICAGO DOES!!! THEY ALWAYS WANTED HIS RUSSIANESS!!! :nono:
  15. I just had one of the funniest ideas... Remember team Canada at the WJC (well, of cours eyou do....) Remember the Mario play? And how Mario and Kariya worked so well together during the tournament. That's right... Kariya to Pittsburgh! Sure, they can't afford him, but if it was just for one season... Man, that would be so funny...
  16. Keep Gordie. He's a goon, and we need one on this team. While there is a lot of crap, he is an improvement on Kilger. I'm noticing everyone writing lines for next year, and he's not on them. Lindsay is gone, Blouin is as good as gone, Odjick is the 'bridge under troubled waters', but Gordie... we still need him. IMO he can become our version of McCarthy on NYR. A tough guy who can score 10 goals a year, but still get 150+ PIM. That would be a lot better than Zednik being our PIM leader. It's the equivalent of Milan Hejduk being the PIM leader as well as goal scoring leader for his team. It just shouldn't happen. I reckon his line with McKay at the end of last season was successful. Kilger was the centre on that line, and since he probably won't be back with us next season, we'll look for a filler. McKay was not competent previously, but if he plays better this season, I would be pleasantly surprised. I think we all would. We could stick JoJo in the middle until we get rid of him. Or maybe Gratton... If we get rid of the rest of the crap... But I'm drifting. My point is, give Dwyer a full season to show us his worth. Y'all will like it. He is the (and I quote) "Psycho this team has been missing". Lindsay didn't get the chance, and I wish him well on whatever team wants him. And if he comes back to haunt us, I'll have to say :-^ Told ya so!!! :-^
  17. http://boards.go.com/cgi/nhl/request.dll?M...l_mon&id=205058 KoZed's reliable I didn't ask for a source, but still... Someone ask him. Maybe he knows something we don't (I knew he was Pat Hickey all along... ) [Edited on 2003/6/30 by TheAussiePosse]
  18. Well, you got your wish with the real checking. This one will allow you to choose which hits. Which is a big improvement. However, Here are a few players who are on our roster now in NHL 2003, but shouldn't be: Patrick Poulin Matts Jarventie Eric Landry Gino Odjick Mathieu Descoteaux Sylvain Blouin Well, Blouin and Landry are in the minors, but they're not part of the team anymore. Instead, they should use those spots for the following players: Jason Ward Chris Higgins Josef Balej Alex Perezhogin Michael Ryder Tomas Plekanec And Ward better be above the '70' that they give to all rookies. It makes me angry when they do pointless players. And you won't like me when I'm angry... (the closest Emoticon I could find to the Hulk) Edit: Added link http://www.easports.com/games/nhl2004/home.jsp [Edited on 2003/6/29 by TheAussiePosse]
  19. Soooooooooooooooooooooo... You're pure as far as the other 29 teams are concerned... But a team sponsored by Disney recieves the black mark without a trial... OK... IMO, there are plenty teams that are more of a joke than a team owned by Disney... the New York Rangers are the most commonly known. The Toronto Maple Leafs, (aka, the Yankees of the NHL). Up until 2 seasons ago, the New York Islanders, and until last season with Khabibulin, the Tampa Bay Lightning. They were all jokes once. But there are 2 original 6 teams, and the Isles won 4 straight Stanley Cups. So how can they be a joke? I guess this thread is over, seeing as we're done talking about the Ducks, and have moved on to the NHL as a whole. I wonder which thread is next...
  20. What about Puurula? Or Tarasov? I'm guessing puurula probably has some military to perform, but I'm not positive. And Tarasov? I hate to say it, but that was probably his last chance. And no Kastsitsin   BTW, with HF updated, here's our young'n lines :/) Hossa-Ribeiro-Ward Perezhogin-Higgins-Balej Kastsitsin-Urquhart-Thinel Ryder-Lapierre-Locke Komisarek-Hainsey Shasby-Beauchemin Archer-Linhart Michaud Puurula (Note: Those are the positions given by HF, not by me) BTW, rankings are still the same (we're 4th), but here's a comparison Us: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team.php?team=17 30th (SJ): http://hockeysfuture.com/team.php?team=19 Good to see we're full of good prospects. Stanley in 2006!
  21. Aight, here it is one last time: I don't care about your opinion of the Ducks. As of this moment in time, the Ducks have withdrawn, and there is now only 29 teams in the league. This post is now on the subject of hockey 'purity': All I wanted to know in my previous post was how pure you are. Nothing about the team that before this post was known as the "Ducks". But when you regard yourself as "pure", I'm just curious about how pure, and in what sense. Are certain teams 'pure', and others not? What is the basis of your idea of 'purity'? No need to get defensive (yet), it's just a matter of opinions, as you've stated. So if you can let me know that, without referring to the team formerly known as the "Ducks", that'd be great. And we could continue to argue in a sensible, mature fashion, using intriguing ideas, witty commentary, and important historical references to further eachother's goals. Have a nice day
  22. What is your claim to fame? I found out that the only other Habs fan in my ice hockey rink is married to a lady whose last name is "Getzlaf" Yes, the same Getzlaf surname that was drafted in the first round by Anaheim. I think it's nephew once removed, or something like that. Their kids are his 2nd cousins. Anyways, that's all. Does anyone know someone who was drafted?
  23. Sergei Fedorov : Detroit (Or Russia with Anna ) Derian Hatcher : Toronto (As much as I hate it) Teemu Selanne : Anaheim (Can Sykora play Centre?) Luc Robitaille : Los Angeles (That's why they got Stumpel) Mario Lemieux : Pittsburgh, and nowhere else Brian Leetch : New York (Rangers) Ray Whitney : New York (Rangers) Todd Marchant : Tampa Bay (Where did that come from?) Steve Thomas : Anaheim (or retirement) Brian Marchment : Colorado Vaclav Prospal : Edmonton Darren McCarty : Philadelphia Magnus Arvedson : Atlanta Jeff Hackett : Phoenix (When Burke moves) Felix Potvin : New York Islanders when Snow goes Eric Desjardins : Philadelphia Greg De Vries : Colorado Glen Wesley : Carolina Dmitry Yushkevish : Philadelphia Gino Odjick : Montreal!!! :-^ But seriously folks... Steve Yzerman : Detroit OK, for sure now... Calle Johannson : Columbus [Edited on 2003-7-1 by theaussieposse] :-^ just kidding Puck
  24. Hey, I tried to post. And I advertised. But let's see you wake up at 3 in the morning and to that. Especially when you have work in 6 hours. But it was a good job.
