  1. Brodeur will definitely retire with NJ instead of moving.
  2. The thing that stands out in my mind most about Koivu was when he was going through his cancer treatments. He came out on to the red carpet during player introductions to a game with a huge standing ovation resulting. Was it the first game of that season? Toronto being the opponent comes to mind, but I don't remember for sure.
  3. There are not many players who have spent their entire careers with one team.
  4. The only two sources that I can think of are the ECHL website and that of the Nailers...and I don't imagine that either one is very willing to go public with team injuries.
  5. Desharnais plays his heart out every time he's on the ice. It's great to see that he is finally getting a real chance.
  6. End of the 1st period... 3-2 Bulldogs Dogs goals scored by Bishop, Palushaj, and Nash. Curtis Sanford in goal.
  7. 7-0 Bulldogs in the 2nd period!!!! I picked the wrong day to stay home!!!!
  8. Holy Crap Batman!!! I think I picked the wrong game to stay home and miss... 4-0 Bulldogs now in the 2nd period!!!!
  9. End of the 1st period...2-0 Bulldogs There is some nasty weather in the Hamilton area tonight. The Dogs and the Amerks made it to the game, but I know of a few fans (including myself) who did not want to venture out into the elements....better to stay home safe and listen to Derek Wills and Al Craig call the game on the radio.
  10. Leaving or staying might also depend on who is willing to pay the most for his services.
  11. Correction to your shootout scorers....It was Maxwell and Avtsin who scored for the Bulldogs in the shootout. What can I say about this game except WOW!!! Sometimes 1-0 games can be long, boring hockey, but not this one..this was the most INTENSE game I have seen in a long time! Both teams played the entire game going end to end non-stop back and forth as hard and as fast as they could skate. The Bulldogs rang the puck off the goalposts and crossbar about 5 times as well. It was also a busy night for the Bulldogs team doctors....in the first period, Conboy was tripped on a play going into the corner and he went down HARD into the boards. He was down on the ice for several minutes and had to be carried off. It appears that he has re-injured the same knee as before. At the end of the 2nd period, Schultz also went down hard in one of the corners and needed to be helped off the ice. Nobody touched him; he fell on his own; must have caught his skate in a rut or something.
  12. I enjoy seeing the "veterans" play in the AHL. Maybe not 2,000 times a year, but that's one of the really neat aspects of the American Hockey League. I recall a few years ago, Patrick Lalime was sent down to Peoria (who then played the Bulldogs). Eric Fichaud, Chris Chelios with the Chicago Wolves, Cristobal Huet (on a conditioning stint with the Dogs), etc... I refuse to pay MLSE prices to go to Toronto to see NHL hockey (I guess I could go to Buffalo if I really wanted) but for about $16 per game, which is the Bulldogs Season Ticket price breakdown per game, I can see NHL veterans and future NHL stars for just a bit more than I pay for Tim Horton's coffee each week.
  13. You will be overcome with joy and happiness to know that, yes, in 2 weeks from now the Dogs and Monsters will play two games in a row on January 27 and January 29. Just thought I would mention it. LOL!
  14. The chat room is a really cool addition to the Forum and I like it.
  15. Well, from what I witnessed last night I would have to say yes. Of course, that was only one single game but if he continues to know his role and plays smart hockey he will certainly be an asset for the future. He already has NHL experience and he's not trying to be Bobby Orr out there on the ice. Subban could learn from this guy. P.K.'s "Bobby Orr-style" of rushing from end to end and behind the net worked in the AHL, but in Montreal we have all seen how that leads to Subban coughing up the puck which then seems to end up in the Habs net more times than not. I think that Festerling is going to work out well in the long run.
  16. Nash needs to learn to keep his stick in his hands. He dropped it last night vs Lake Erie when the Monsters were attacking in the Bulldogs end of the ice and his loss of the stick indirectly led to Lake Erie's first goal.
  17. Got to see Festerling play for the first time in this one and I'm impressed! He plays his defensive position very well and he's not afraid to crunch it up in the corners.
