I agree with you...the Habs D has been a problem for a long time, although constantly improving. I remember last season when the D couldn't even manage to clear the zone. That being said, both goals by Lombardi would have never happened had our D been awake. Any nhler will score when given a cross ice pass in front of an undefended goalie. Both of those goals were great examples of failed defence.

I'm almost certain that the 'A' is a more of a formality than a true rank. The leaders on the team are well known, just because someone doesn't wear's an 'A' doesn't mean he is not a leader on the team. These guys a professionals and are not really affected by those things. The 'A' (correct me if I am wrong) is issued to a player who has the right to approach the ref while on the ice, so it is logical to assume that it will be given to a player receiving a large prtion of ice time. I rarely see Kovy talking to refs, so I can understand why it may be removed from him from time to time. Just a thought...

I really like this guy. I've been saying it since last year... I really appreciate what huet accomplished last year for the Habs, but there is a reason he has never been a number 1 goalie. He is, by nature, a backup. Granted he will be a very highly paid backup. GHG, Go Abby Go.

Habs offence seems to be fired up...FINALLY! I see Kovalev is making the big plays at right time as usual. The only reason the score was close last night was Huet. I appreciate what he did for the team last season, but there is a reason this guy has never been a #1. Go Abby!! P.S. One shorty in each of the last 3 games....awesome!!!

wierd...I though I read on this forum that RDS is planning to show all this year's games in HD. Can someone confirm this?

So I come home from work on saturday...very excited to catch the Habs-Sens game in HD on my new LCD TV. I subscribe to Rogers Super Sports Pack which entitles me to NHL Centre Ice. I sit down with my required beer and chips and find the channel labelled "NHL HOCKEY - Ottawa at Montreal". Here we go, I am psyched for the opening ceremony (always well done in Montreal). I hit the select button and what do I see?? BLOODY DON CHERRY talking about the upcoming Toronto-Calgary game. Ok...no big deal, I'm sure this will hcange to the advertised game once this numpty is done talking...ok, puck drops on the Toronto - Calgary game...Im getting worried now...it's 740...still no habs...WTF is GOING ON!!! Turns out, the 50$$ a month I pay for the "sports package" does not entitle me to see the games they advertise on the program guide, instead I need to sit throug a game I REALLY dont care about. To rub salt in the wounds, ALL the other games that were being shown were accurately labled and were shown as scheduled. BULLSH%T!! Does anyone know if I can get RDS in HD in Ontario (Ottawa)? Is this possible, or is it only available in Quebec. I am trying to be a dedicated habs fan in Ontario, but these buggers at the cable companies are testing my patience!! At least if I get RDS HD, I KNOW I will get to see my games. P.S. I eventually found the game on regular RDS, I enjoyed Sammy's first goal, too bad about the shoot-out. :hlogo: GHG

Haha, two teams who have trouble scoring with two hot goalies (assuming Abby is in nets). This should be a VERY low scoring game...maybe yet another shoot out coming up. Of course I'm also assuming that Line #2 still wont be clicking tmrw, although I really hope they start tearing things up. IMO, the 2nd line, on paper, should be doing the most damage. Wow...so much hostility. I WOULD agree that he should be sent down, but his age makes it an interesting case. The fact is, he can't be sent to the AHL so he won't really fully develop. The Major Juniors in Quebec will not help this kid become a better hockey player. If anything they will reinforce bad habits. It is for this reason, more than the others, that he will stay on the roster this year. If he was older and elible for the AHL, he would probably be down after 10 games, but they wont send him to the Qs. That being said, there are a few things that worry me about his game: 1) He seems a bit sluggish, most likely because I am comparing him to true NHL calibre players. This will improve once he work on his timing issues. 2) He needs to get off the bloody ice when his shift is over. I've seen a bad trend of staying on the ice long after his linemates have subbed. Normally this is ok (once in a while) but this is becoming a bad habit. It screws with the line chemistry and change timings. Once again, all these things will be worked on, better off on the roster than in the Qs where he won't be able to fix these problems. Remember, when in the Qs, this kid is considered fast.

This kid is going to be good...maybe too soon for him to be jumping to the NHL. I think he'll get 9 games and be sent down. Although he won't learn alot in the Qs, his brief stint in the big leagues will help form his future training. I think he will need AT LEAST one year in the AHL before he can do this full time. That being said, I dont think AK46 is a good choice for the 4th line either. Perhaps stick with Downey-Begin-Murray for the rest of the year and bring in Kost during the mandatory Kovalev injury periods. I must emphasize...I AM a lats fan...but this seems too soon for him.

Good God...the reasons I hate the leafs...pretty similar to some others on here but here goes anyways: 1) The bloody media: Living in Ontario for the last 5 years, it has been so frustrating hearing all the crap being put out there. More frustrating is the fact that some days they would rather show highlights of a crappy leafs 9-0 loss than show a successful habs win. I hated living in Kingston having to listen to the games through CJAD online while looking at the NHL Official Scoresheet to get a feeling of catching the game!! 2)The fans...including my friends. Despite the dismal recent past of leafs, all leafs fans REFUSE to accept that montreal is the more successful team. I remember cathcing playoff commentators last year totally ignoring the fact that the last Canadian team to win the cup was Montreal. There is no argument on this planet that could be made to place the leafs above the Habs in terms of quality...yet they continue to try. 3) The leafs organization...probably one of the cockiest, most overrated organization in NHL history. John Ferg. Jr. is probably the biggest numbty to ever grace a front office. 4) I may be under 30, but I know my history....thats enough for me! Hope this help your sociological study of leaf haters...

I'm glad we got rid of him. There is no doubt he has talent, but it was obvious he didnt want to be in Montreal. If a player doesn't want to be there, he won't play well. I think we got a better upgrade with Johnson, more reliable and bigger.
