His problem is he thinks he is entitled to be a superstar without working for it. That has always been his problem that his why he refused to go to the minors before. After 5 years of being in the league he has not gotten it. So I have little hope he ever will.
Drouin has three goals and three assists in the last five games. Maybe there is hope for him yet. But five games is too short a time to make that conclusion.

It's interesting that you note his Finnish team being bad as a negative - I actually viewed that as a positive reason for him to go back there. He'd get tons of ice time, an easier schedule (good for his physical development), and since his season would be over in mid-March as a non-playoff team, he'd get to finish up in Montreal and/or Laval anyway.
Definitely good for ice time. Maybe not so good for morale. Which one is more important at this point ... I don't know.

I don't think he is going to the World Juniors. I also don't think he's headed back to finland or laval. He's been too good.
I agree that he's probably not going to the world juniors. That said, I do think it might be good for him.

Now that passed 9 game bit and playing well, is he still likely be loaned to Finland junior team at X-mas? When he really does help the Habs with numerous smart plays every game.
The world juniors might be good for him. Going back to Finland less clearly good for his development: big ice surface, and his Finnish team (Assat) is struggling badly, mired in last place in the Liiga.

PHR?
$36/year is not so bad, if the content is good. I saw the trial, but wanted some feedback before entering my credit card info there!

How many people are subscribing to The Athletic? Is their Habs content good enough to make the subscription worthwhile?
The Gazette's stories really aren't that great any more, in my opinion. Too many live blogs and not much in-depth content.

This will be NHL game #10 for Kotkaniemi, so we can officially look forward to him staying with the club for the full season.
-
First period more even, but third was an unmitigated disaster. Yes, Domi scored but getting outshot 15-4 in a period is not going to win us a lot of games.

Buffalo has played better basically the entire game
First period was more even -- the Habs held the edge at times, the Sabres at others.

I think its more as soon as the player feels the cross check on there back they fall right on the goaltender. They make no attempt to avoid the goaltender.
But knowing that the opposing forward will likely do that, pushing or cross-checking them in the direction of the goalie is just a dumb thing to do.

We're still in the game, but being outshot 38-20 ...

I've never understood the insistence of defensemen to push players into their own goalie.
That's it. A penalty kill, yes, but it's still a self-inflicted goal.

Good eye to spot the loose puck next to the net, and great control to quickly wrap around and tuck it in.
And that was made possible by Kotkaniemi's hustle to get to the puck behind the net.

Ouch. Not much support for Niemi on that one.
-
Shots 13:9 for Buffalo after the first, but I was pretty happy with the team's play: I don't think the shot totals reflect the scoring chances. And Domi and Lehkonen combined for another goal to give us the 1-0 advantage. Niemi made some solid saves.
A good start, and at least it's not the dreaded two-goal lead.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard from Habs29? He was posting everyday before the season started but now that the Habs are doing well he has been silent. Hope he is okay
Doing a member search, he hasn't posted since 26 September, but apparently he was reading the site just two hours ago. So maybe he's doing well, just like the Habs ...

Other than being stressed about the team's record so far!

That cursed two-goal lead again?
-
Woah, we're at 58% on the face-offs through two periods. Is this the first time this season that we are actually winning those?

They're not the first team to do that and they won't be the last. I'd guess that veteran clubs are more immune to that tendency, but still, when you think you have a team on its back, the tendency is get too loose, even when your brain is telling you not to.
Maybe if we had a veteran coach telling the kids what to do in this kind of situation ... oh, wait.

They had the Sens gasping for breath at the first intermission ... but then let up. Why?
-
So ... was it just me or it were the Sens just that much faster on the three-on-three?
-
What chaos in front of the net ...
-
I do have to admit that it was a nice play by the Sens, though.

But ... but ... we have a two-goal lead again. Which team will show up for the second?
