He's a debutante! ??
Well, he's made it to the ball anyway..!
When I met you in the restaurant
You could tell I was no debutante
You asked me what's my pleasure
A movie or a measure?
I'll have a cup of tea and tell you of my dreaming
Dreaming is free ,,,

And it looks like a certain french speaking coach in Bawston may be availablle.....hmmmmm. JUST KIDDING.
In case it wasn't obvious ... so was I.

The Hamburglar will come down to earth under "the heat lamps" of Bell Centre.
That's the key. He's played 24 games, only allowed 3+ goals five times. Need to shake up his confidence.
-
Just because I can't resist kicking a hornet's nest....
I'll say it right now. I don't feel very confident about going up against Ott -who's been playing playoff hockey since Feb. If the unthinkable happens, does Therrien get axed?
I think they'll probably fire him before the series starts, no point waiting since he can't possibly win it anyway!
-
Gonna be a long series I think. Dont like the way the habs played down the stretch. Sens riding a wave.
Pumped for this series. Rivalries are made when teams meet often in play offs. This may be one in the making.
Sens have been hot recently, and the season series is not in our favour. Need a new approach for this series to win it.
We haven't really played them very often in the playoffs, I think the last time was in 1927.

DeeDEE!
Loved that shot by DeeDee.
Me too. Has he done that before?
-
And that's all she wrote ... Subban needs to take the credit here.
-
Looks like we need another good PK. And in OT.
-
OK, if nothing else it was a good PK.
-
I lack integrity too!!
Where is that "Like" button?
-
I think it would be dishonest to win this one.
Personally I accept even dishonest wins, as long as they are ours.

Just so it's out there, doing that wouldn't entirely clear his salary off the books. If Budaj were to go to Hamilton, he'd still count at $475,000 against the cap [$1,400,000-($550,000+$375,000)]. When you consider that Tokarski's cap hit is $562,500, they'd only save $362,500 on the cap by burying him in the minors. Is that really worth doing?
I don't think so ...
-
yes he does.
So we'll need to trade one of Budaj or Tokarski, it's just a question of which one.
-
Lots of blue-skying on here (Habs29's posts are usually great, but the one above basically restructures the entire roster - that is not going to happen, and even less likely to happen are the specific trades and moves he advocates). Fantasy trades are no more than that because we have little idea about what the other team wants to do. E.g., identifying Bieksa, Higgins, Kane, these all make assumptions about the vision of the management of the other teams. It's sheer wish-fulfillment.
Right. They are not going to blow apart this year's roster -- hopefully we'll get some good improvements, but it's not like we need to start over from scratch.
With regards to goalies, Tokarski might not be thrilled to be a backup for three years, but we could probably sign him to an entry-level contract for much less than the $1.4M we pay Budaj. And cap room is good. That said, if Tokarski's trade value ends up being much higher, that might tilt the scales in the other direction.

I think the main problem with Gionta is Therrien. If he's on the team Therrien will continue to use him in all situations. His pp time will probably decrease but when the game is on the line such as OT he'll be right back out there over Galchenyuk. That being said even at a 50% reduction he's not worth it to fill out a checking/PK role. Use the money to fix greater holes such as a top 6 winger or top 4 D. We have always had an abundance of checking/pk role players.
I don't think $2M (or even $2.5M) will get us a top-six winger or top-four defenceman in today's market ... and that's even assuming that there are attractive UFAs in the market that would be willing to sign with the Habs. But of course we don't know how much of a cut Gionta is willing to take: he might want $4.5M, or he might settle for $1.5M in order to stay in Montreal. He's not getting $5M anywhere though ...
Therrien overusing Gionta might become less of a problem if we can sign some legit offensive power in the meantime.
-
Gionta says he wants to return and would take a pay cut. With a big enough cut, I would personally like to keep him, even if it's on a checking line/PK role.
(I don't think he needs the money anyway ... not after five years at $5M apiece.)

And God bless Les Glorieux for all the great fun and suspense in this terrific run...
What a rout of TB.. and a Bruin Burial at great cost
And a hell of a game 5
I'm sure the guys gave all that they had.
How often have we gone even 10-7 in the post-season -- and this time without our star goalie in the final series? A fabulous ride this year, as you say.

If you Think Montreal deserved that game your nuts.
We've won undeserved games before, and lost deserved ones. Deserving a game doesn't mean much in hockey.
Anyway, I'm happy and proud of this team, they did far more than I expected, and got damned close to the finals. Let's hope they build on this in 2014-15.

That PP was as bad as the last PK was good ... sigh.
-
Weaver already has 5 blocked shots through two periods ...
-
No faith.... GTFO
Turn off the TV, you know they are gonna lose. Don't watch the third.
This. I have to believe, even against the odds.
-
All right, there should be no sitting back now. Let's see if that lights a fire ...
-
Left him all alone in front of the net ...
-
they've had the better chances.
Not by much.

A better finish to the period, but need to sustain more pressure inside the Sens blueline. Anderson doesn't look rusty, but he does look lucky so far ...
This. PK's shot off the post onto his legs, and the redirect tipped right into his chest.
