  1. Sigh, poor Guy. His son is an asshat, plain and simple. I think the judge in question is simply taking advantage of Lafleur's name and legacy to garner a few minutes of fame for himself... "I'm the Judge who issued and arrest warrant for the Great Guy Lafleur!!" Guy is a legend, I saw him play when I was a kid, and to this day I remember him sweeping down his wing, blond hair streaming....his finesse and skill were of the kind that you seldomly see today... I hope everything works out for him....
  2. AC, thanks for posting the link to that great article. I remember as a kid going to see the Habs play with my Dad (he is gone now) and I remember waiting for what seemed like forever to get some autographs. Gainey was one of the first players to sign my card. He was kind and gracious and so very patient with me (I was a chatty, ask a million questions type kid!)and he actually thanked me for having asked for his autograph. He took the time to shake hands and speak with my father as well. His humbleness and seflessness were what struck me the most at the time, even as a kid. Those qualities shine through today. His strength, both as a private individual and a public figure is quite possibly the most important factor to the Canadiens as a team. He is, in my honest but humble opinion, the best thing going for the Habs right now. I am eternally grateful that he never acted upon his thoughts to step down during the sad event of his daughter's passing. The team, and we as people in general, can learn a lot from a man such as Gainey.
  3. HABSROCK.....that is absolutely FABULOUS!!! Can you make me one of Naslund? Thanks!!
  4. Habs and Leafs both on the golf course....I feel so much better now! If the Habs had to be out, so did the Leafs. I guess I'll root for Ottawa now, or any Canadian team for that matter. If Toronto was the only Canadian team left in the playoffs, I still wouldn't root for them. Go cry in your towels, Leaf Fans! Last night's victory is bitter tasting now, isn't it?
  5. Ye of little faith..yes, they came out less than spectacular, and yes, they are playing like chumps (except for Huet who is BRILLIANT!) but it is only the first period. Like Wendy said in Peter Pan when Tinkerbell was dying "if you truly believe" they will over come all odds. Remember, we just need to make it to overtime, NOT win the game, and our olace in the palyoffs is secured. GO HABS!
  6. Hey everyone, thanks for the warm welcomes! I've been reading through the posts and you guys know your Habs and hockey! Nice to be here!
  7. HR11, do you tink you could make me a sig with Robinson and some polo ponies? Since he is an avid polo player, and i am not only an avid Habs fan, but also a self confessed horse nut. I'm not a polo player, but rather an equestrian jumper, but close enough. Thanks in advance!
  8. Firewagon hockey....what the Habs are playing right now looks more like "ox drawn manure cart" hockey. I think Carbo needs to sit the team down and watch a bunch of grainy black and white films from Richard's era, and say "see, that's how hockey SHOULD be played". The problem with todays's version of hockey is that every player is an entity to himself, focusing only on themselves and their stats and accomplishments. Other than a very few instances (the top teams right now) there is no TRUE team work. Go back to the basics, remember what it was that made the Habs the dynasty they once were..a combination of fierce competitiveness, loyal teamwork, a sense of urgency, and the need to please the pressure cooker that is the fan base in Montreal. The support structure is there with Gainey, Carboneau and players like Plekenac, Souray and Koivu...now Gainey and the management team just need to shore up the holes with some thoughtful trading and draft picks. I'll agree with a previous poster who said that it is not neccesarily the coach's fault...the players have to start taking some responsibility...perhaps Gainey does need to do a thorough housecleaning this off season. The potential for greatness is there, they just can't or better yet, WON'T, capitalize on it.
  9. It is VERY hard to keep the hopes up....they play one good game then stink the next....SIGH, it's a good job I'm a die hard fan... At least Toronto lost!!! Com'on Habs, hang in there! :hlogo:
  10. GO DIEGO, GO! Ah DArk Wing Duck, what ever happened to him????
