  1. Streit has a one-way contract. If we send him down he'll have to clear waivers. I dont think the habs went to all the trouble of signing him just to lose him on waivers. Streit only agreed to sign IF we gave him a one-way deal.
  2. I'm not high on Hainsey at all. If I beleived Hainsey could become an elite D I would not get rid of him in favour of Streit. Its just a difference of opinions betwen you and I on what we think Hainsey will become. I do not expect Streit to be a Star (at least not for this season ) , I expect him to be a quality #5-7 depth player. I have realistic expectations I think. [Edited on 2005-8-4 by puck7x]
  3. Selanne: No thanks. He's past his prime. Sure it would be "nice" for Koivu and Selanne to re-unite, but how successful would they be together? Honestly. I'm not interested at all. Kariya: There have been alot of rumours connecting him to the habs the past couple of days. If he could be had for 2 million or less I'd take him in an instant, if it costs more we'd probably have to trade Zednik to make room. But I can easily live without him, I want Perezhogin to have a spot on the top-2 lines. Kariya to Edmonton is the rumour right now. Peter Worrell: I'd love to sign him (as long as its for less then 1 million). Finally a goon who's one of the best in the game and can intimidate other players/teams. I wouldnt play him 82 games a year, but it would be nice to have the option to play Worrell when we need him.
  4. Great signing. I was really hoping Gainey would improve our depth on D, and signing Streit does that. In case you dont know who Streit is... He's a 5'11 190lb skilled D. He's 27 years old, he's Swiss. He plays both LD and RD (naturally left) . He had a great offensive year in the Swiss league, he was the captain of his countrys team at the World Hockey Championships and one of the best D's in the tourney (a tourney filled with NHL's) So... Are Hainsey's days numbered? The habs have 8 D's now. No way we keep more then 7 on the roster.
  5. Just an update... Since the site was down... http://www2.sportsnet.ca/nhl/free_agent_tracker.html Comments on whats happened since we've been down. Forsberg: Damn the Flyers! Argh... Wish Peter would have stayed in the west. Brisebois/Turgeon: LOL Avs. Though I bet Brisebois has a strong season, just a feeling. Niedermayer: Thrilled he's going to the west.
  6. Well that was some pretty long downtime... I'm not sure what happened. I'll have to wait till Matt (sakiqc) shows up to find out. Hopefully the problems are behind us. [Edited on 2005-8-6 by puck7x]
  7. For basically nothing... http://www.newyorkislanders.com/pressbox/a...hive.asp?id=376 Does this mean Vancouver will get Scott Niedermayer? They just saved some cash. And what about the Isles? Where are they finding the cap space? Are they going to deal Peca to the Oilers as rumoured?
  8. Thats very interesting. If its indeed true, then good depth signing by the habs.
  9. Rumors from other boards are not legit... Although yes, I've heard it myself, RDS had an article a couple of days ago about Dandy's interest in Montreal. So we very likely could end up signing him... But this is not worthy of a thread
  10. Colin's latest article... Alot of good points made. Check it out http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=839
  11. That is a solid second line! Yeah but it screws out 3rd line. Bonk is the PERFECT fit for 3rd line centre. We need a big player like Bonk on the 3rd line to match up against the opponents top lines. Instead of trading Ribeiro I think Ryder or Zednik might be dealt, Ryder isnt making it easy on the habs to get him signed. And... Instead of signing a UFA D, maybe we're going to trade for one? Maybe that was Bob's plan all along.

  13. I was thinking the exact same thing. Great trade by Montreal now... Balej isnt a sure thing at all either.
  14. Wow, imagine if we got both Satan and Kovalev... crazy... But where is the D?
  15. Finally some good news for the habs... Now lets get a D already... 4 years? Wow... We've got a star (superstar?) winger locked up for 4 years.
  16. You thought Brisebois got boo'ed badly in Montreal? It would be nothing compared to Ed "giveaway" Jovanovski. He's made so many bonehead defensive errors in his career I've lost count. Sure his offensive and physical games are great, but he's pretty average in his own zone. oh and off the ice he also seems pretty dim witted. If we're going to get a Nucks D-man go for Ohlund! This guy is so under-rated its not funny, everyone goes on and on about Jovo, while Ohlund has great season after great season and is the real anchor on Vancouvers blueline. 17. Don Taylor says that SJ radio reports that Kariya has signed with the Sharks...
  18. Yeah read that also... your fast, I like it Good for the Nucks, it would of been a disaster if they lost the captain (and best player)
  19. Holy crap! traded defenceman Chris Pronger to the Edmonton Oilers for defencemen Eric Brewer, Doug Lynch and Jeff Woywitka. www.tsn.ca Its about time Edmonton acquired a star player from STL in return for prospects... Its always the other way around.
  20. Steve Yzerman re-signs with the Wings. No surprise there.
  21. Holik to Thrashers... Wow you guys are quick, HW is awesome.
  22. Going from Brisebois on the PP to Bouillon is a step backwards, we're supposed to go in the other direction I think (I would hope).
  23. I hope its as a #6 or #7 D... http://rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/184796.html Come on Gainey... Go get a big fish
