Guy! Not a bad analysis. It would definitely shake things up and stuff. I am trying to look at this and add a BUT to it, but <== there it is, I really can't. I mean, sure we don't see Komi in the playoffs, but with all due respect to him, I am not too sure he's all that ready for playoffs anyway!! I know Komi is a fan favourite, and I like him too, but give the guy some time. Sometimes pushing someone too far or too hard leads to a flop. Guy! if I were the owners and you were the GM I would give the go ahead and a big pat on the back for making a trade that makes sense on so many different levels!!! That is as long as Wash bites. Ya I know I highly doubt it'll happen, but interesting spin nonetheless.:/)

:mad: Well thats it I completely give up on Habs fans. This is like the only place where people are actually level headed. But to the trade. I really don't like this one at all. A little while ago I actually had the chance to brag about Gainey's ability to remain steadfast in the face of oposition and through the adversity of the trigger happy fans. Well I am still right about that, and I can still brag about that, but this :puke: I understand the need to dump a prospect or two, I know that Balej was small, but Kovalev??? Man!!! He's a short timer for money, which we need to hold onto for now when contracts expire for the guys we really need to keep: Zed, Koivu, Souray, Markov to list a few. I thought Gainey wanted to build for the future? I know that we really do have a stockpile of prospects, but of all, why Balej? I don't mind the idea of trading Balej, but not for a skill player!!!! For a medium time commitment player who is gritty, you know someone we NEED!!! I don't know about Gainey, but he better have something up his sleeve with this one b/c Kovalev just doesn't fit into the future of the Habs. Montreal is not an easy team to play for. The pressure, especially from those mother f%$@ker fans that want the cup now!!! Check out tsn.ca the your call section on the trade and you'll barf. For once in my life I was happy to see other fans bash us, and rightfully so. We got a player we don't need and we got rid of player who we could have used for more. Okay, sure only second line material at best right? But lets not kid ourselves here, who's on the second line right now: Dags - Ribs - Ryder Now what about Dags? He IMO is not a legitamite second liner and besides he's not all that young. And remember most of the time it takes a fair bit of time for a player to develop - okay we got lucky with Ryder, but honestly how often has that ever happened to us?-. So I am sure we could have got more of what we needed rather than Kovalev. He's not a bad player, not great, but he just isn't what this team needs. So overall I am very disappointed with this and I can see this hurting us later on. I mean MAN:wall: Gainey looks like he's from Toronto management => with this one lol. Too expensive of a rental player for a year that we realistically have to sit back and realize that the cup ain't ours for years to come, but if Gainey keeps this up, well, it'll never happen and I will only have the 93 cup to sit back on and just enjoy the history that once was made by this team. Sure I am jumping a bit here with all this, but honestly, CAN YOU BLAME ME? :ghg:

Habby1197 I totally agree with you. I remember last year or so, my memory doesn't do too well with dates, when Michel Therien referred to one of the scrawls as a brawl of brothers. The situation these guys are under do not allow for much to slip. They live with each other for how many months a year? My point here is that eisegetical mogruels like the ones jumping to a "clan" brawl should step aside, count to ten and ask themselves: " Do I play with the Habs?". Look what I am saying is maybe you're all right, but don't start anything that you can't back up. And by the way stats mean nothing as evidence for this such things. Any of you taken any statistical analysis courses? IF you did then no need to read further, if you didn't here's a short lesson, statistical data and designs are unfortunately ladent with error and sigma= standard deviations. These don't tell you squat about whether or not so and so likes him or so and so despises him. Stop being morons, stop making mountains out of mole hills, and stop starting stuff that you have no primary references to back you up. Sit tight and for once be exegetical with references.

I honestly think that what you are saying has some good ideas and aspects. Especially dressing less players, this will allow for a smaller budget expenditure and may help out canadian teams. What I don't particularily care about is that when all put together seems to change the game drastically and players will have a real difficult time getting used to it I personally think the number one problem is the goalies. You are not allowed to touch them when they leave the net or you get penalized. Thats why many rushes are dead and forechecking has gone down the tube. You now have 3 D and 3 forwards on the ice with the goalie leaving all the time. I remember a time when a goalie was considered a moron for leaving his net b/c he'll get creamed by the rushing forwards. I think if they impliment that goalies can leave their net, but are then like every other player, we'll see much more effective rushes and then forechecking can then be revived as part of the game. I want to see some old time crunching of hockey. There has never been anything more fun than watching a goalie get creamed and spend like half a minute to get back to the empty net while the offence is flying around the zone to get the puck and score. Thats my two cents!!

MIchaud is playing in his country right now, but Garon needs some fine tuning. When it comes to clutch and positioning he's not there. Its more of a mental thing than anything else. He definitely has the ability to be a good goalie, granted, but I am a little concerned about his state of mind in tough times. Maybe I was a little harsh and unrational, but he needs some fine tuning. Look at Theo, he was not really doing all that well, then they sent him to the minors and he played in the Labatt blue pick up cup. This was a few years ago, and he came back a new goalie. I am just Garon might need something like that and until then a replacement could be good and I know that MIchaud did play some games for the habs a while back and he did a damn good job at it. Just something to spark ideas and fans b/c we all know that'll never happen!!

Man, its a shame to see the habs loss when they are ahead like that and how hard they played. Philly didn't even desrve a point from that game. I don't know about you, but I am all for sending Garon to the minors and brining in Oliver Michaud. Any post game thoughts?

I really don't think they'll do that. gainey has the same mentality as did Savard and he is going to wait to rebuild the team. One way or another, I don't see a defencemen going to Dallas for a high paying forward. Besides, the only expendable players that Montreal has on the blueline he can't get rid of!! Quintal is going nowhere unless they buy out his contract. Weimer gets paid less and does a better job and no one in the league wants him from waivers!!! I hardly think they are going to move a D for a forward, sure I know they need to make room for Komi, but where? Julien tried Rivet up front for size, but he got upset. The habs have very little to go shopping for for players like Arnott. They have to do addition by subtraction and wait it out. Most habs fans want to see something now, but it isn't going to happen, the management knows the habs have bright future, they are not going to let that go, but the impatient fans have to smarten up. Anyway, thats my two cents!!
