Cucumber's point is that MB should have done something to improve this team in the summer and he didn't (even if he tried). We played teams hard and had success when we were healthy, and if MB had made the needed upgrade our season might have been very different.

As it stands now, considering our injuries and the apparent plan to wait until we are rescued by our youth sometime in the future (if that day ever comes) we may as well prune our roster at the deadline. I don't want a scorched earth rebuild but why hang on to players that won't be part of the future?

Trade Price - Habs29 has a good case for Calgary being a logical fit for Price and I could see a deal being made there. Tandem Primeau until he is ready for full time duties

Trade Tatar - We have plenty of depth on the wings and I think Tatar's value is fairly high (I frankly think that his value is higher than it should be)

Look at trading some of the depth guys like Byron, Weal if there is interest.

I think trading your franchise goalie and top scorer is pretty scorched earth.

I don't believe that there are many teams with the cap space or inclination to give up significant assets for Price. A Price trade would be more likely to involve a minimal return with Montreal retaining salary. I am no longer opposed to a Price trade in principle, if, (no pun intended) the Price is right, but we also need to get a legit NHL goalie back because rushing Primeau is a recipe for disaster. In short, I don't see a Price trade this season.

The club has to make a decision on Tatar. Resign or trade him. Either way it needs to be done well before he becomes UFA at the end of next season.

The outflow if we are out of the playoffs by the deadline ( and yes, I know that may people already consider the playoffs out of reach) should be a number of players like Thompson, Byron, Weal, Cousins, Folin, Kulak, Weise, Kovalchuck ( if he can perform). Players like Petry or Tatar should only be traded now if the return is astronomical.

Your not listening his not adding top talent to this team his trading talent for talent.

Got Weber for Subban that's not adding

Got Suzuki and Tatar by trading Pacioretty that's not adding

He got Domi by trading galchenyuk not adding

Only top players he added to this team without taking away from it was Drouin and Danault.

    This is amusing.

Although I am still not a Bergevin fan, he has done an outstanding job of acquiring talent for nothing or winning trades.

Armia for cap space= Mtl 1 Jets 0

Danault and the pick that became Romanov for Fleishman and Weise Mtl 2 Chi 0

Suzuki, Tatar and the pick that became Mattius Norlinder and Jacob Leguerrier for Pacioretty

Mtl 2 VGK 1 but has the potential to be a huge win for Mtl

Kulak for nothing  Mtl 1 Cal 0

Byron Waivers Mtl 1 Cal 0

Drouin actually cost us a significant asset in Sergachev Mtl 1 TBL 1 Winner TBD

In his actual 3rd/ 4th line trades

Weal for Chaput Mtl 1 Ari 0

    Thompson and a 5th for a 4th Mtl 1 LA 0

    Cousins Ufa signing

    Barber ufa

Folin and Weise for Froese and Schelmco

Mtl 1 (.5 for each player) Phi 0

Now if he could only work his magic for a Backup goaltender and a better LD than Scandella

  3. Really excited to see this game. After 4 years in Manitoba finally seeing Habs vs Jets live. First live game since 1997-98. Habs have not lost in the three previous games I have attended Montreal, Boston and Tampa. Long may the streak continue 😎Go Habs Go! And a Merry Festivus to all🎄

I agree Montreal needs a forward like Anderson.  I like the player and the thought of adding him.

At minimum i think it will cost a 2nd rounder (chicagos that will be a high second) and a lower prospect like cole fonstad or something.

At that price point, Bergevin should have made the deal yesterday. I’m also not opposed to giving up Byron in a deal for a younger, bigger forward

Yes, I would go with either Vejdemo or Belzile. They are more ready, I think, and Poehling needs the time in Laval.

Isn’t Belzile still hurt? I would give Veejdemo a shot just to give Poehling more time under Bouchrd’s tutelage.

Agree.  I hate the Ole ole song and loved the Na Na Na song. Was watching the bloodbath game against the Nords from the 80’s that was included in the 10 greatest games box set a few months back and was thinking the same thing. Don’t know why we had to go with the stupid ole ole song.

I also hate Ole. The Habs are not a soccer team 🤢

It's the 20th game mark, and I cannot help taking one last crack at a trade (now based on this https://thehockeywriters.com/canadiens-available-assets-roster-upgrade/)

    To Montreal:

    Jonas Brodin

    To Minnesota:

Tatar, Kulak, Hudon and Chicago's 2nd

Our highest point producer, one NHL calibre LD, a borderline NHLer with scoring potential and a decent draft pick.

For Brodin, I would go as high as Mete instead of Kulak, but no more than that.

Ouch. I would think that if the Wild continue to struggle they might want pics more than players. I think your proposal minus Tatar plus another pick might do it. I don’t think trading Tatar this season would be in the team’s best interest

He had a rough night last night, and you aren't taking out Weber or Petry for Folin.... He's the only logical person to come out for Folin to come in .

I actually thought that Fleury had a decent game last night and even if we disagree about that he is still a much stronger option than Folin.

    That said,

We've been lacking energy twice in back-to-back games earlier this season (Detroit and Minnesota).

I'd bring in Weal and sit Byron.
I'd bring in Folin and Kulak and sit Reilly and Fleury.

Get some fresh legs in tonight.

I agree with the fresh legs but I would not take out Fleury

    At Even Strength yesterday.

Fleury/Reilly was the only pair under 50% Corsi and got absolutely buried at 35.7 (Reilly) and 38.46 (Fleury).

That pair didn't work particularly well.

The ADD line was also poor in possession.... all in the 30s.

    KK was at 45%

The rest of the team were even or positive possession players.

Dare I say that the ADD line wasn’t paying attention? Yes, I dare

Nice for Carey to get the shutout.

The Wild are in an awful position going forward - a blah team that has lots of old players locked in longterm.

Bill Guerin is going to earn his money the hard way. Pretty bad when Rask with one (1) goal is among your forward scoring leaders and your team has scored zero—yes, zero — goals off of the rush.

Gustav Olofsson has been placed on waivers.

Sounds like hes healthy and ready to go to Laval

No surprise given his recent injury history that he has cleared waivers. Laval should be strong
