  1. PUCK 7x you have stated the crucial point. Money. Pronger might be a great D-man but at $10,000,000 per year and a tendency towards injuries? NO WAY!

Far better to continue to let Garon AND Theo develop - along with our defense. Patience. For the ten thousandth time I am grateful that BG is at the controls of the HABS. This unexpected progress will not cause him to throw his time-line for the club's development out the window. Some have asked if BG has the balls for this trade. Balls have nothing to do with it, only brains

  2. Good idea to encourage Kovalev to come back. Montreal deserves a player of his caliber and he needs to be in a place where hockey really matters.

I'm sure BG will give it his best, because he wouldn't have made the trade if he didnt see that Kovalev would fit in with the Habs.

A quick loss to TB would be disappointing, but compare the state of the team and the mind-set of the fans now with this time last year. For the first time since the Houle and Tremblay circus started I feel really good about this team.:ghg:

  3. I think that part of the problem is Tampa's ability to disrupt the habs'S game plan. The Canadiens need a lead. If Les Boys score first I think the game will go well, if not...

Hopefully, Jose will shut the door like he did against Boston, the first line of K, K, and B will fly AND the second line will SCORE. :hlogo:

  4. Unfortunately, Leafs Suck, I agree with you(great Avatar BTW).

I think the Habs are done in this series, which I never felt against the B's, but I reaallly hope I'm wrong.

I just hope the Habs can keep the streak of never being swept in a seven game series alive. Its been a great season and I hope Les Boys will pull off another amazing come back.

BTW if the Habs win this series I WILL HAPPILY eat a print-out of these words without salt.

  5. I am looking forward to listening to the game. At last one that doesn't start at 3 AM my time. Alas, no TV coverage in the UAE, but you can't have everything.

I expect that Julien will have made effective adjustments just as he has all season and playoffs and will have Les Canadiens rolling tonight. :hlogo:

  6. I read in the Gazette last week that Dino Sisto was given time off to deal with family issues. For a broadcaster this is akin the upper body injury so common in the playoffs.

Rick Moffat isn't bad. He does all of the Alouettes broadcasts with Tony Proudfoot doing colour. However, I hope that all is well with Dino and he is back soon.

  7. Actually, I'm from Prince Edward Island originally. Unlike most Canadian Expatriates Winter is the time when I really get homesick.:)

I actually saw a hockey game on Saturday night in Dubai, the remnants of the Russian 72 Summit Series(suplemented by National team, Canada Cup and Moscow Dynamo alumni) were in Dubai playing a friendly match against a local team. I was an amazing feeling to be back in a right especially with the desert right outside. The ice seemed pretty good though. :can::ghg:

  8. Being here in the United Arab Emirates, I have not been able to see any games. I haven't even been able to listen to them live because 7pm EST is 3:00AM over here and I work at 8AM. What I have been doing is listening to the archives at nhl.com, but it has taken tremendous willpower not to peek at the score first.

Habs World has become my favorite place for information and the energy and enthusiam have been phenomenal.

Tonight(this morning) though I am going to stay up even if I am dead tired at work on Tuesday.

For Game 7 sacrifices must be made.

  9. Excuse me, but because Julien is trying to calm the players and not get them too tense, he accepts mediocrity?

Have you ever coached a team? The coach is not in absolute control, although he is responsible. A good coach tries to keep the players on an even keel, not too low after losses, not too high after wins. This is especially necessary in Montreal where fans and media tend to go beserk during a loosing streak.

It should be obvious that Julien has control of this team. Everytime he sits a player, that person comes back and plays better.

And could we please stop the Larry Robinson behind the bench is going to save the franchise crap.

  10. I cannot believe that useless morons, or as BG said in another case, "gutless bastards" are booing SK over the supposed "fight" with Riberio. If anyone noticed the Habs played their best game in a while and everyone was fired up. To boo a man and a leader who came back from stomach cancer to lead his team in the playoffs and who gives his all every night is disgusting when it happens for no real reason.

"Winds of change" was a good article by concerned fan as usual. However, how do you give Dagenais a D plus when he scores two goals!!!? Admittedly, he is not the physical presence you would wish for from someone that big, but he did do the job tonight.

Also, I don't understand the comment about losing faith in the coach. His system is working, despite what some media morons are saying the team is together and every time he benches someone for weak play that person comes back and plays better.

It will be interesting to see how Montreal does without their top two d-men now that Markov is out for family reasons. Maybe BG will seek some blueline help, but Hill is not the answer and if Calgary wants Sundstrom that is not a good option either.

  11. Dear All,

    Please get a life.

Teamates fight all the time, even on championship teams.

Do you actually think that all the members of the great Habs teams in the past liked each other????!!!!!

    B***S**T

The only conclusion to be drawn from this fight is that SK is pissed off by his and others lack of finish, and in some cases start, in the last four games. I think they will show some passion against Cal. as a result.

If BG makes a trade of either one of these players because of this (and I am sure he won't) then he is no better than HOule and we had all better find another team to cheer for.

Relax, the Habs will start winning again tonight and Buf is going to start a loosing skid:hlogo:

  12. HI All:

I thought that the Trading 101 was an excellent article, well written and informative. However, I was surprised to read so many negative comments about Ron Hainsey.

We all would like to forget that salary is the over-riding consideration in most trades, but unfortunately that is the reality. It would be nice if Calgary were willing to take on the remainder of Yannic's contract and give the Habs a decent physical defenceman in return. That said, I see no reason for Gainey to trade Sundstrum unless he gets significant value in return ( he is playing extremely well defensively and chipping in timely goals)and Gautier and a pick just doesn't do it for me

IMHO if Perreault is traded it will be near the deadline to a serious cup contender for a mid-round pick or maybe a prospect.

    Cheers,

    P:hlogo:
