The good news is that 3 of the "experts" think our terrible, god awful team will over perform and stretch this out to 5 games. The better news is that the series is played on the ice and not from these guy's basements.

Remembering this post ...
who knew!?! Lol
Haha chances are much higher than 5% now. Lots of good happened for the Habs since this post, they either make the playoffs or have a decent shot at #1 pick.

I think you must be suffering from PTSD - so jittery about any hint of negativity (at least from me) that you have inferred much more "bite" than is actually present in (1) a harmless jest about Carey Price needing to be vintage (2) a comment about our C depth being flimsy without Domi (but that's not "negativity," it's stating a massively obvious fact), and (3) a comment that I'd play Suzuki rather than KK against the Big Two and am interested to see how he does.
Underlying all three posts is indeed one "negative" master idea: i.e., that the Penguins are a stronger team than the Habs. And seeing as you miss the supposedly departed "analytical Cucumber," allow me to point out that any objective analysis would come to the same conclusion. The corollary of being analytical is seeking to understand reality for what it is, as opposed to, say, waving pom-poms, drooling with enthusiasm over whatever mediocrity the Habs roll out, and fantasizing that the 2020 Habs are about to morph into the second coming of the 1987 Oilers.
Finally: just to avoid any further confusion or imprecations, yes, the Habs have a chance to win the series. It is quite true that "anything can happen" (as MB loves to say, since his team is never the favourite), especially in a 5-game series. But does objective "analysis" heavily favour the Pens? Are we in tough against a battle-hardened two-time Cup-champion Pens team? Yes and yes.

What are you talking about?
At the time of my comment you already had 3 negative posts in this thread that just started? Maybe you're on such a level that you don't realize it.
I miss the old Cucumber, the pre-Subban trade Cucumber, the analytical Cucumber, the hopeful Cucumber, the make me want to read more Cucumber

Can a mod change the thread title to " The Cucumber is back and more negative than ever"

If by some miracle we win, it’s because a Price stands on his head and some of the kids surprise. It won’t be that daily friggin Weise lives up to his Dutch Gretzky nickname. Being OK on a team going nowhere is hardly a reason to play him.
If Dale Weise plays and wins a Stanley Cup he deserves every bit of respect that the rest of the team gets. The coach's job is to try to win games, and if that means Dutch Gretzky is lacing them up then let's go

This all seems so surreal. I'm still holding my breath about it all happening but man is it going to be exciting if it does.

PK apparently has a very bad back ... and there have been suggestions/rumours that since he got involved with Lindsay Vonn (midway through that 16 goal season) hits focus has not been the same
I am fairly certain I made a post about that in the original trade thread, something like that he might start to focus on his celebrity more than hockey, among many of the reasons why I was defending the trade. Of course I would have been down voted into oblivion

After losing last year's prediction thread by a goal in the tie breaker, I'm just going to go ahead and declare myself the winner this year with a prediction of 85 points. Closest total to the final standings of 71 and also to projected point total of 82 points. What a piece of crap season on the way to winning the Cup

1. Patrick Roy
2. Mario Lemieux
3. Pavel Bure
4. Jeremy Roenick
5. Eric Lindros

Weber was also upset about losing Sergechev for nothing, so tried to make up for the bad trade by taking out Sergechev.
Just once, once, post something that isn't taking a shot at the organization. A picture of Weber missing an absolute haymaker and you have to comment about a trade that in your opinion is bad. Just an awful existence you must live watching what is supposedly your favorite team. I suggest getting another hobby, talking to a therapist, or both

A task I had to do at a job was watching educational videos on civil engineering from the 80's and making sure the captions lined up with the audio.
That was more exciting and less painful than watching this game.
I am a watch-at-least 75 regular season Hab games a year kind of guy no matter what. I had this one on record and once it hit 2-0 I gave up and looked up the final score. I was glad I made the right decision

Lines are guesses with Vejdemo's recall and Tatar's injury.
Lehkonen - Danault - Gallagher
Byron - Suzuki - Armia
Hudon - Domi - Weal
Vejdemo - Evans - Weise
Chiarot - Weber
Kulak - Petry
Ouellet - Folin
Price
I must say with the injuries, demotions and recent trades, that is one ugly looking lineup.
-
Price looks locked in, like he has the last month or two. I enjoy watching this

Blake coleman to tampa for Nolan Foote and Vancouvers 2020 first round pick.
I concede... if thats the price for blake coleman, trade everyone. Tatar, Kovalchuk, Petry, Thompson, Cousins, Weal, trade em all. Blake f'ing Coleman is worth 2 firsts.
Tatar is surely worth both Lafreniere and Byfield in this marker.
I was all on board to keep Tatar, but my god, if Coleman gets that return what does Tuna bring back?
I'd work on signing Kovalchuk and Petry

I'm sure whatever happens Bergevin is the worst! Can I get a hell yeah?

Somehow with all the greatness going on, they keep missing the playoffs, weird

And the reason the goalies tend not to do the butterfly much is because it's really hard to get back up again!
Like the butterfly, you have to pick your spots while back checking. Nobody is flying around out there for the standard minimum 3 minute shift.

This is just me and I'm only speculating here - but does anyone else get the feeling that Domi's teammates aren't all that particularly fond of him? I like Domi, nice player, but I'm just getting this feeling that there is something divisive in the dressing room and Domi could be at the root of it. I could be way off though... it's happened before.
I love Domi as a player and he seems like a great guy, but the thing I have noticed over the last month or two is that when he is on the bench he separates himself from his teammates. I am unsure if he always did that or not, but it is noticeable now. Usually when a player does that they are frustrated either with their team or themselves.

You don't need a pre season warm up to not make beer league passes and not hustle after you make a beer league play.
As a beer league player way past his prime, I'd like to state that we do hustle but are way too out of shape so it looks like we aren't hustling. And our shitty passes are because we are too tired and are scared of having a stroke

That is without question one of the top 50 worst penalty calls I've ever seen

Surely even the most pessimistic tank loving fans must have enjoyed that result.
