It’s amazing to watch the leafs lose in the playoffs.
I think it’s a mistake to play one of the highest skilled players in the NHL, Mathews with two lunch pail type players.
I get spreading your talent around so it’s tougher to shut everyone down but you’re wasting generational talent IMO.
Maybe Nylander takes a spot there.

Islanders are playing a great game down 2-1 mid third.
I kind of want Roy to win

I think Vegas is going to beat Dallas. Not sure that’s even an upset.
Vegas is getting players back who magically are cleared to play once the playoffs start - shades of Tampa

Kulak was the 6th in TOI for Oilers amongst their D regulars ... admittedly on a better GAA team than Montréal ... not certain that "terribly" is the right description.
Sure I mean we are talking about bottom pairing Dmen here. I just think both fans and some media don’t appreciate how good these guys actually are - for bottom pairing guys- 1

Kovacevic is terribly underrated the same way Kulak was.

All i can think about is what we are going to end up doing with hte blue line!
Matheson-Guhle
Harris-Savard
Struble-Mailloux
Xhejak-Kovacevic
Hutson-Barron
Trudeau-Reinbacher
Would we really have this in the AHL?
Hutson-Reinbacher
Xhejak/Struble-Barron/Mailloux
Trudeau
In the NHL having...
Matheson-Guhle
Harris-Savard
Xhejak/Struble-Mailloux/Barron
Kovacevic
Obviously pairings subject to completely change.
Do we see keeping Harris, Xhejak, Struble, Barron, Mailloux around to battle for the spots... Then flip who doesn't make it?
I figure Kovacevic is our 7th...
Just wild
My guess is that at least one of those Dmen won’t be on the roster next season.
I frankly love the amount of competition for a roster spot now. I do expect some players to be in Laval that are ready for NHL while they sort the roster out - Hutson could surely play NHL next year, even if he has stuff to work on but there isn’t a spot for him.
I bet Savard is traded at the next deadline and then Reinbacker takes his spot to finish out the season.

Weber was clutch in that Cup Final run ... his subsequent "implosion" was entirely injury related ... I see Savard as more a Hal Gill who managed to play, admittedly in declining numbers of games, until he was 39.
Deadline deals are almost always for draft picks or recently drafted players who are a couple of years away from the NHL ... is that worth more than the veteran support that Savard can provide the youngsters, especially the RHD, as they break in?
I agree with your assessment of Savard. He will be a useful NHLer for years yet. He will decline but he won’t fall off a cliff.
I still don’t want to sign him.
Trade him this summer if possible and let the kids play.

How wonderful would it be if Anderson returns to a 25 goal pace and plays with speed and power!?!If he doesn’t get his game back then I want Marty to stop coddling him and treat him like any other unproductive player.

Well, on May 6th or 7th will find out what spot.
Jets vs Aves, i think it is, assume Aves will be favored?
Montreal Canadiens Draft Lottery Odds Officially Locked In (msn.com)
First Overall: 8.5 percent
Second Overall: 8.6 percent
Third Overall: 0.3 percent
Fourth Overall: N/A
Fifth Overall: 24.5 percent
Sixth Overall: 44 percent
Seventh Overall: 14.2 percent.
I mixed up the draft date with the lottery date so your post makes me happy 👍 -
My only complaint is that June 28 is too far away. I want to know now 🥳

Josh Anderson points by months this season:
Oct: 1
Nov: 1
Dec: 9
Jan: 2
Feb: 3
Mar: 2
Apr: 2If Anderson has a similar season next year then I hope he doesn’t see top 6 minutes. I hope he sees fourth line minutes.
Those are terrible stats

Crosby is going to win a cup with Montreal.
4th line centre, PP, Ozone starts
2027-2028 season then he can retire.
But probably Sid is retiring a Pen.

Having a full season with a complete second line will do wonders for us.
Heck, even our first line was saddled with asshats like Anderson for much of the season. Imagine what a complete season with Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky might do.
Habs played much of this season with one first line, two third lines, and a fourth line. Not to mention only one top D pairing and two other pairings that were bottom pairing level.
We will be better next year
-
Nobody saw Newhook or Dach coming.
It will be the same this summer.
Habs are going to add that 21-24 year old forward. No idea who but HuGo are going to get it done.
I HOPE 🤞

Hes really showing that crazy edgework in the ozone to create space and chances.
D is better too.
Just got an assist on a shot slaf tipped in.
Thanks friendHe is likely going to Laval next year but he might make the Habs out of training camp.
Just from highlights, Hutson is very difficult to cover because of insane edge work.
-
Can’t watch the game tonight but all the social media commentary is gushing over Hutson.
Is he really playing well?
Is he any better in the Dzone tonight?
Im missing an exciting game 💩

Pearson in for Ylonen, Mailloux and Struble in for Harris and Kovacevic. Primeau starts

Just remember, that comes off the cap next year if he gets it.
Again I learn new stuff!I thought all bonuses were”baked in” to the current year. Meaning that cap space was already set aside in case that player makes their bonuses.

I hope Slafkovsky gets to 20 goals and Caufield to 30. I also hope Suzuki gets to 80 points.
Ideally we lose 6-5 in regulation.
Yes, Slafkovsky gets a nice $ bonus if he hits 20 goals and I hope the kid does it.
