  1. For those that were questioning Florian's pick in the draft, he is good enough to take Jakov Novak's spot in the lineup (3RV Lions best scorer)... not too shabby

Le défenseur Arber Xhekaj subira demain une opération à l’épaule gauche qui mettra un terme à sa saison. Il devrait être prêt pour le début de la saison prochaine.

Defenseman Arber Xhekaj will undergo season-ending surgery to his left shoulder tomorrow. He is expected to be ready for next season.

    Is this the same shoulder?

    no, it's the other one:

I wonder if they can call up Jakov Novak from Trois-Rivières. He is their top scorer, seems to be a shot first type of winger and to have size. I do not know about his skating.

I may be a better option than Perreault or Durandeau, neither of which have helped generate offense

:)  I get one right! it must be the eclipse :)

The end of this season has me hopeful for next year as we are competing with some top teams and only 1 or 2 lines going.    With Dach Dvorak Roy possibly 1 forward ufa and one potential Dach/Newhook trade.  Our forward lineup looks very deep and matches our def depth.  Anyone else hopeful for playoffs next season?

I though they would have a better season this year, and if that progress had continued I had placed in the playoffs next year. So yes, I think they should be a bubble team next year. If they exorcise the injuries curse that hovers over their heads

Years ago, on this very site, I crunched a bunch of numbers on Koivu and discovered that he produced like a PPG player, except that he would have long slumps of, like 10-15 games per season where he would basically produce nothing. 🤷‍♂️ Hence the endless argument over whether he was a #1A or a #2C.

The other thing about him was that (with all due respect to Commandant) he was a playoff beast. I mean, he put Joe Thornton in his back pocket even while playing through a cracked rib.

The tragedy of Koivu, as I’ve lamented many times, is that he was never the same after his knee was destroyed. I am sure he could have been a top-10 player if not for that. He was that dominant before the knee injury.

I am sure that with the innovation in knee re-build/care now Koivu would be as good at Suzuki is turning out to be. Long health and many ppg season to the captain.

That's not true, Mailloux is developing nicely there, Roy was having a good year in Laval until his call up and Reinbacher is there now. Also Arber spent a chunk of time there.  The Habs obviously see Laval as a place to develop.

I am just ticked off.... not a happy toasty potato at this moment

  8. They are where they deserve to be in the standings. Kaskisuo was not good on that game, letting in two softies.

I guess the Habs management is right to dismiss Laval as a development asset for their best prospects.  NHL or bust, is the model :flaming:!!!

I am disappointed but not out of hope for their chances, this play-in race is the only thing keeping interested in the Habs right now.

  9. I am so much more invested in the Rocket games right now that all I hope is that Xhekaj, Guhle, Harris, Struble and even Kovacevic continue their progress. Win or loose, development is what matters this season for the D.

Forwards, I am happy with how well the young are doing. Suzuki, Slasfkovsky, Caufileld, Newhook.

Armia, Gallagher, Anderson can coast till the end of the season for all I care as long as they play well enough to offload some minutes from the top line and prevent any injuries.

    Go Habs! Go!
