  1. I was tempted to bring this up as a topic on the Bulldogs facebook site (there hasn't be a forum there for a couple years) but the fans in Hamilton seem to have trouble facing reality if you've ever read the reply to some of my previous posts there. Unfortunately it seems to be dominated by puck bunnys or fan boys. I appreciate this forum all the more for continuing the kind of discussions I was hoping could have continued on the previous Bulldogs forum (on their website). Unfortunately the Dogs social media just seems to be dominated by every increasing silly tweets. The answers to my "why is Mayer still playing" facebook post has some comical answers.
  2. where does Tokarski now fit in the picture?
  3. Brian-did you ever locate Avtsin? (where's he hiding-back home?)
  4. god-what is it with Sly's infatuation with Mayer? (Reminds me of renting a crappy car with a prepaid tank of gas and driving around for extra miles just trying to use up the gas, in this case Mayer's salary) Maybe I should stomp on my Dog's Deslauriers jersey to bring them some luck. ps-per that interview, Dog's new CEO Steven O seems to be impressed with shiny things. I've seen that too often over the years where they sell the sizzle but the steak is mediocre. They seem infatuated with the gigantic scoreboard but there will be no hockey team there to use it next year. They should be careful what they wish for
  5. Holland scores at 13:34 of the third and Hudon scores with 25 seconds to go for a 2-1 win Even with the win, PBP admits they were officially eliminated from the playoffs. Playing for pride and jobs (and ticket sales) for next year
  6. LOL-btw sounds like ex Dog Brendan Nash was playing, how could I put it, a little bit on the overly agressive side? Still mad about getting traded???
  7. Beaulieu gets a shorty. Dogs win 4-2. Re the head hunting. Deveaux has been plain mean since his days with the Marlies. Stortini, in comparison, could be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize -re Holland-IMO streaky-maybe one more year in the AHL ps-when Deveaux got the 3 minors, Tinordi got a penalty for striking Deveaux' hands with his face-lol and what else is sad-the Dogs do well but playing in a different time zone, will miss coverage in the print version of the Hamilton Spectator
  8. Andre Deveaux cheap shots Hudon. Gets 3 minors and a game. (you see what I mean re head hunting-seem to be going after the Jr call ups)
  9. Kristo gets an assist on a Belzile goal set up by Beaulieu!
  10. geeze=tied at 2 early in the second. Beaulieu gets caught pinching and Mayer waves at one on a screen. San Antonio seem to be head hunting tonight
  11. I can only surmise Tokarski must be nursing an injury. On the other hand, if Dustin is hurt, he wouldn't likely be on the bench
  12. even though he has been travelling with the team previously
  13. Dumont on his way back to Montreal Thursday morning
  14. what was you opinion of the officiating by Dean Morton and Steve Walkom? (Going back to his AHL days, I always thought Morton hated the Mtl organization and Walkom is past his best before date)
  15. it's strange Colin-he just doesn't seem to be the steady Freddy I've seen in years past. I guess we'll find post season if he was nursing an injury (which might be an educated guess) EN goal by Davidson of OC makes it 3-1 after Dogs almost score with Mayer out It gets worse-second E/N goal by House makes it 4-1
  16. former star Cheechoo scores for OC making it 2-1. -every coaches nightmare: Jeff Smith and Jamie Koharski officiating tonight -guess I'm getting old and crabby but hearing stadium announcers doing that chintzy "WOO" bit after announcing a home goal reallly seems to be pure fromage. It's right up there like sponsored power plays and pk's like at Copps
  17. Desantis is back-PBP mentioned his mother had been quite ill. Adam Ross not dressed. Beaulieu on his way back -will meet the team for the next game
  18. Adam Ross, Wheeling D man, signed by Hamiton per AHL transactions (must be getting really close to player 50 for the season)
  19. JMO but Ouellet goes from #2 scorer on an ECHL team to being a utility, penalty killer, 4th liner on a bad AHL team. Audition was way too short
  20. Argh!!! Wheels seems to fall off the wagon when Grassi pinched and got caught up ice. (BTW-he plays with his tongue stuck out and I'm sure he's going to lose it without a proper mouth guard. In College, I think he had a full cage, so no problem). Eliis next lost the puck and voila, goal number two for Rochester. Three looked like a screen. Bothered me that some fans gave Tokarski the bronx cheer after making any easy catch---it sure wasn't his fault. His numbers are actually quite good with Hamilton but he is doomed to play for a team that can't score. Allowing the Amerks to score a short handed empty net goal is inexcusable
  21. Mayer definitely did a Jeckyl and Hyde deal again. Let in a softee (4th goal)-seemed to be cheating the wrong way but was brilliant in break away saves caused by goofs made by Leblanc and St. Denis. He still seems to have rebound control problems. And misplaying the puck while the Dogs were on a PP, led to Pateryn taking a penalty Tinordi came back and had two goals go in off of him-second Heat goal was off his stick and the third off his skate. Brian-did PBP mention if Chaput is injured or a healthy scratch?, I assume injured from that collision with Stortini Wed he is likely injured. PBP still seem to hold hope for playoffs but I guess they have to tow the company line. Still find them annoying that they will give NHL scores mentioning goalie and scorers but not so for AHL scores. At least they could give the goalies and scorers for games in our division if they want to develop some sort of loyalty to the AHL product (but I realize most likely hold aspirations of being NHL broadcasters and many are just bad enough to move up-lol) -hoping Hagel is back tomorrow. -at least the last minute flury with the goalie pulled made it exciting -$3.00 beer night brings out a different crowd-a few more neandrethals -am I the only one thinking it's sort of wierd when the jumbotron operator puts up "Make Some Noise" two times while the Dogs were on a PK?????
  22. and Dumont and Tinordi are on VIA heading back to Hamilton
  23. JMO but after watching him all season in Hamilton, I find he makes some exciting rushes but often get caught out of position as a result. I will give him credit though - the other night vs the Heat-he had four Heat players chasing him while his line mates changed and then dropped the puck back to Bournival for a beauty of a goal. If he can pass a bit more and not try and be a puck hog, he'll be great.
  24. I though Grassi looked solid - Size wise he looks good-maybe his equipment exagerates this but to me looks tall but with short legs. I'll have to look up his stats. He has already been out at the schools in Hamilton helping with the kid's breakfast programs. I noticed the jerseys off our backs program feature none of the new guys and I think Avtsin's ballot box and jersey have disappeared (along with Avtsin right Brian-lol). Oulett looked a little slow-we'll see if that improves-but he did save a goal early in the game. That line can only afford one slow guy (Zach). As I mentioned before, we didn't see a lot of Merth. One poor bit of planning tonight was a post game autograph session. Nobody seemed to know about it until it was announced. They said it was the first of three-this late in the season?????? And with a small crowd of around 2500, it makes you wonder if it was worth it. They've done some dumb things this season is marketing. (like selling tickets at Fortino's for ten bucks making it cheaper than the season ticket holder rate and a horrid little program that they have the audacity to ask five bucks for. I have an incredible one from Binghamton last weekend that sells for a dollar.) Off topic, but I've been told there is a "town hall" meeting on April 12 for fans to bring up these issues. The ticket reknewal for next year is saying 38 games but fans are wondering if that will magically change to 36 again if there are games in Mtl. There was no compensation for fans in Hamilton when two games were dropped to accomodate the Mtl games.
