  1. The Rangers have had an answer for everything the Habs have thrown at them. You have to give them credit-over the past seven years they've been right there with all the contenders, and often beaten by the very best. They had a bastard of a division this year, but I think they'd be a 106-112 point team in the Atlantic. They deserve a lot more respect than the hockey world gives them.
  2. I am, but that's the lay of the land in this series. The Rangers were 17 seconds away from a 2-0 lead and the Habs won the game in OT. I think they could play this series 100 times and it would be 52-48 either way. The two teams are really similar. What's encouraging is that they dominated but didn't try to run the Rangers out of the rink like Game 5. Claude forgets he's not coaching the Bruins!
  3. He's big enough. That's for sure. Maybe Claude didn't like Mitchell's cheesy grin after the Rangers knocked him over the boards. "Aw shucks, they effed me up!"
  4. I just wish they would sit out unless they're at least 85%. It's obvious teams say players are hurt after eliminations to protect them from the media. I mean...they lie about injuries all the time anyways.
  5. To be fair, I had the Habs pegged as a 2nd round team and the who knows. This is definitely a 2nd round type series in close play and caliber of the two teams. They need to adjust the playoff format. It wouldn't have saved the Habs this year as a #4 seed, but it's not giving the league more rivalries. The second round is now a turd. And it's really disjointed to have teams cross into divisions of it's supposed to be a divisional playoff, right?
  6. I was thinking McCarron at center, had no idea Shaw was out. King lives again. At this point, they might as well announce the 3 year MB grinder deal.
  7. Brian Wilde reporting Flynn, Davidson, and McCarron are in. I say Low IQ N8, Ott, and King are out.
  8. I've got a good feeling about this one. It might be that I just started up a round of probiotics, but it's good nonetheless. I can't see them dropping three straight. The Rangers played next to perfect games in 4/5. This time they slip a bit. Lundqvist is due for an off game.
  9. Let's just dispel with this ridiculous idea that players with one or zero points are somehow indispensable or not fair game for criticism.
  10. The Sens are nobodies. I don't have to deal with their fans, but they're headed to the second round because of the playoff format and the Habs or the Rangers are going to eat their lunch.
  11. Spoiled brats? The team hasn't been to the Cup in 25 years, and they haven't been a serious contender in decades. They're five years into a quasi-rebuild and it's almost time to go back to the drawing board. The fans of this pathetic franchise have plenty to complain about, especially given how much the Molsons make off of us. We want some results, and after a quarter century anybody who's content with the status quo deserves to root for the Maple Leafs.
  12. Definitely. Major trade, fired coach, imminent first round exit. Sounds about right.
  13. I don't think it's a straw man argument where fans want Pacioretty to become Wayne Simmonds, we simply want to see some hustle and grit. And yes, if playing above the defense isn't working, it's on him to go down low and to the net. The Rangers have adjusted to him, and he's been quite easy to shut down. I don't really care for the scoring chances argument, because to my eyes, there are four or five chances a game not including goals. I don't buy this "high danger, low danger" crap. Playoffs are results and not process oriented. We don't have the benefit of an 82 game sample size for the margins to be colored in by variance. A lot of the blame needs to go to the center situation. Whether you want to blame management or Galchenyuk is another discussion. Phil Danault shouldn't be a top-6 center. He's been as bad as Dwight King this playoff. I think he's learning on the job and that it takes a couple of playoffs to really get going.
  14. What you're forgetting about Galchenyuk, though, is that he was 7th in ice time and playing on the second PP. He's being treated like secondary scoring, and he's provided none. But as of right now, he's done just as much as Pacioretty-one really nice primary assist. At this point the "Max is fine" crowd in the fan base seems more invested in their opinion of the player than his actual performance. This happened with Subban at times as well. Max has been horrible. It's the first talking point in the hockey world surrounding the Canadiens for a reason. You can look at heat maps, or sonor, or the Zapruder video of his shots from the fourth row, or listen to a Johnnie Cochran deposition, but if you take him out of the series, the result is exactly the same. He's been terrible. I can't remember a player whose performance has disappointed me more in the playoffs. This is Jumbo Joke territory.
  15. I'm looking at comments on Twitter and H/IO, and the consensus is to trade Max, Galchenyuk, and then sign a center and a number 2 defenseman or some other big moves. They already made a bunch of shakeups this year. Weber, Shaw, Julien, Radulov. Markov and Plekanec are getting older. Price is merely great. Contracts are up. I think the holes in the boat are moving faster than the pails throwing the water overboard. Champs in 2025?
  16. They shot their load in the second period. They needed a couple of goals that didn't materialize. From the midway point, the Rangers had the run of play and in OT, the Habs were all done. Don't want to start the post-mortem too early, but Movie Max, Galchenyuk, a lack of a real offensive center killed this team. Their best players aren't the type to get it done, and guys who probably could win a cup at some point like Markov and Weber are just too old. Bergevin gets fired at the end of next year.
