I don't think a player can get his number retired in Montreal without having at least 2 cup rings, so I sure hope that you are right.

Agreed. I think you need to have at least ONE cup to have your number retired. Asking for two cups might be a little exagerated seeing as the Habs don't play in a 6 team league anymore and don't win the Cup every second year like they used to in the 50's, 60's and 70's.  If Carey can help this team win ONE cup, then there's no doubt in my mind his number will be retired, but without a cup, not sure it's gonna happen!

  2. True that Andersen had to make more saves then Price, but Andersen's saves we easier to make compared to the saves Price had to make. The Leafs took a helluva lot more QUALITY shots compared the the Habs. MOst of the Habs shots came from the outside or wrist shots from 50 feet out.  Their coach even said it after the game; last nights game was the game where they gave up the least amount of good chances all year...and that includes the games the Leafs played against the Canucks and the Hens.

As far as Price giving up bad goals, I don't think any of the goals he gave up were as bad the goal given up by Andersen on the first goal. The shots that went by Price were top corner shots. They were precise. Not to mention that Holl's shot was a blast from just outside the faceoff circle (by the time he took the shot, he wasn't at the blue line anymore!!)  Price couldn't do anything about the 3rd goal. No goalie could do anything about a goal like that!

Having said all of this, even though I do have a tendancy of defending Price (mostly cause I also used to play in nets in my beer league) I have to admit that I haven't been impressed with Price over the past few seasons (with the exception of last falls playoffs)  I'm worried that father time might be catching up to him!

  3. I can't believe we're having this discussion. Remember the last time we traded our Star Goalie...the team took a decade to get over that loss. Now don't get be wrong, I'm not saying that Price=Roy, but before we go and trade/let go of our starting goalie, let's find out what the future holds. Will Primeau become the star goalie that we think he'll become? WE all know that Allen CAN'T be the starter. He was a starter for a while and that did not go well. Allen is a great back-up goalie.

Lastly, we all know that Price has a tendency of having slow starts...let's give him 20 games to see if he can get his shit together!

Habs don’t seem to come back too well so far this season... generally they coasted into the game and Ottawa came to play...

if we can’t beat Ottawa up then we are going to fall back to earth soon enough.

I think it's clear that the boys have been reading the news clippings a little too much lately. They are taking the Hens lightly and are paying the price!
