  1. I hope you didn't chnge your avitar because of what I said. I was just playing around.:/)
  2. I say use Rejean Houle...but only on "free puck nights"
  3. The only way the Jackets can send Beauchemin down to the AHL is if the NHL gets the CBA worked out. It's my understanding that no player that has to clear waivers, can play in the AHL if they did not clear waivers by the 15th. I take it mean that goes for the entire season, unless the CBA is signed. All players that are on NHL contracts are locked out, unless they can play in the CHL or are on their rookie contracts (since all rookie contracts are two way) can they be sent to the AHL. But I could be wrong. I checked and the Jackets have no sent down Beauchemin, as they sent down 14 players on the 16th. But it wouldn't make sense to send him down, since they know they would likely lose him back to the Habs. What I suspect, is that Karma has come back and repaid us for Andre Savard's move when he picked up Benoit Gratton from st john's, who at the time was their top player and he picked him off waivers as the Citdelles could have faced st john's in the playoffs (if not for Hamilton who smoked us that year and Gratton actually hurt the delles with all his stupid penalties) I would think that the Jackets saw a chance to get a decent, cheap, depth defensemen for free, plus as a rival to Hamilton in their divison, they had to know it would hurt the Dogs to lose their top defensemen which only helps the Crunch, who gave the Dogs a fit at times this past season. [Edited on 2004/9/20 by montreal] I would like to know for fact the "rules" of this situation but I can't seem to locate it anywhere. I have a feeling the waiver rule applys to all teams with or without a current CBA. The reason I see it this way is the fact that the Canadiens have not/will not attemp to send Hossa or Hainsey to the Bulldogs in fear of losing them for nothing. If the CBA's expiration means they can send whoever is eligilbe down to the AHL, why have they taken the chance on stalling the development of these two top prospects by not sending them to the farm?
  4. The only reason I think it was right in not giving Brodeur the MVP was the fact he didn't play versus the Czechs. Yes he was injured and it wasn't his fault, but that Czech team had the most firepower of any team that the Canadians had to face in the elimination rounds. The MVP could have gone to 4 or 5 guys and no matter who would have won we could still argue against it.
  5. Given the depth or lack there of in Hamilton this would be a no brainer for the Habs Management. I'd even go as far as to say this "waiver selection" was pre-arranged by the Canadiens so they could keep him without risk. Side deals are made daily and the waiver Draft is full of loop holes to exploit.
  6. Beauchemin will be back with the Canadiens organization before the Bulldogs open the regular season.
  7. Nope. He was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973 and passed away in his hometown of Montreal in 1989 due to cirrhoisis of the liver.
  8. BTW FANPUCK33, I hate your avitar! I was about 40 feet in front of that picture, leaning on the glass in stunned shame. CUJO - the ultimate choke artist:nono:
  9. Does that mean that you went to the sam high school as she did? I wish I did, but sadly my sister did. She has an old year book and [a shattered form of] Shania is in it. She had some skin problems and didn't yet develop [facially or physically] at that point. Wow now though. AHH to be an old rich record producer named Mutt. pity really.
  10. I had no idea he was going to mess with the classics. That's not right at all. I guess once you have more money then God you start feeling creative in the wrong avenues. What a tragedy!
  11. They should use the 7th or 8th d-man they selected to the team. As for emergency call ups, the roster of active players has to dip to 20 or below before they can add someone who has not yet been named to the team.
  12. I don't think the signatures would "ruin" it for him. With that said, getting current players to sign the book would turn me off a bit. Currently the book is signed by an author and 3 players. but the nice thing making it even more rare is 2 of the 3 players are deceased. My opinion as a collector and as a habs fan, is to leave it as is and have current players sign something else that is geared to them. Just my opinion though.
  13. Although Saku probably has mentioned it [even if joking about it] I think Selanne is still too money oriented to consider a $2M contract. no matter who he plays with. I would love it, but I'd be better off buying a lottery ticket; better odds of it winning then Teemu coming to the habs. Could you imagine the PowerPlay units we could ice though? :guru: [Edited on 2004/9/5 by Habitforming]
  14. Rivet is I think. Not 100% on that though.
  15. I disagree completely. The 100 point standard is not a stretch at all and in no way would need the "Planets and stars to align". Montreal had 93 points last year with a load of unproven and under performing players. The underperforming players are gone/retired, and the unproven players have now set a standard to play by. All this was accomplished without Kovalev or Bonk. With those two players as well as the cuts and additions [ rookies/UFA's] to the team we should be disappointed in a rise of only 7 points or less. A contender is a team that could win the Stanley Cup, not become the next dynasty team. If Calgary can win the cup [to me they won the cup with the "Missed Goal" in game 6] as well as Anaheim, Carolina, Buffalo etc all make the finals why can't we? We are already better then all the teams listed, and with the uncertainties in the east this season we compare to any team and beating them is not a dream at all. No one in the east will want to play the Habs this year. Period.

  21. Well put. Myself, I can't see Dagenais holding his spot on the second line. I think Hossa will break out this year, and strip Dags of his spot. Permanently.
  22. Hey Spiderman NL What are the odds ou can find one of Theo's new Team Canada mask? I love it, but can't find it anywhere.
  23. She is phenominal. Wasn't in high school but hey she was a late bloomer I guess. Is she a Habs fan or did everyone wear this for a reason [other then being a fan]?
  24. Thanks for the Kudos guys. Looking back like that, its really is easy to be optomistic when you see the adversities they have already conquered. [Edited on 2004/8/28 by Habitforming]
