Yea Dowd has been pretty impressive the 3 games he's been with the habs. He's a smart hockey player and good defensively. He's got some offensive skills too. He set up both Begin and Ward for good scoring chance but Begin shot the puck wide would've had an empty net goal although there was a defensemen right on him. And Ward fanned on the pass i don't think he was expecting it. The play by Dowd to begin though was sweet he had giguere completely fooled on it.

yea powerplay looked pretty sloopy i was surprised to still see Koivu on the point. They'll get it together eventually they just need to get used to each other.

Just wondering for all you people in montreal and canada what is the feeling you are getting regarding yet another trade or does it sound like Gainey is basically done and the lineup we have tonight is basically going to be the lineup with of course the injured players back going into the playoffs. If the media and everyone is still saying their not done who is it that they are still interested in getting? I just don't see them going after another big fish I think that would screw up team chemistry 1 is enough. I like seeing them going out and getting decent-good players but not another star. I hope this is it for young guys leaving the organization until the labor dispute is settled. The Habs have out performed all our expectations already this year, let's hope the playoffs are equally exceeding expectations ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Balej was a second tier prospect in this organization He is a second liner at best. Kovalev is a big guy we finally got that big foward i live in New York and my cousin is pissed off saying that Kovalev was the only guy that actually played physical on that team of losers. As for Kovalev we got a guy NHL ready to help push us over the hump fill the seats this year maybe get us to the 3rd round to break even financially. 1 time 40 goal scorer 2 times 30, 6 time 20 goal scorer. And remember that 44 goal season was no the 2nd line and he got a lot of those points before Lemieux. He is an NHL star and remember he's an affordable star he's not a 9-11 million dollar super star. He's a 5-7.5 million star something we could actually still afford since we've thrown numbers like 5 million at Hull and Lapointe and some other guys we've outbid for but still lost for the last 2-3 seasons. It's all going to come down to I believe is does he want to stay with Montreal because I believe this team has the resources to match other peoples offers. Just Remeber he's proven. He can help us now. He's big and he knows how to find the back of the net. Most of all He is going to draw the opponents top line against him and Koivu. And guess whose gonna have it easier again Ribeiros line.

Ok question which contracts are up at the end of the season? We could probably use them to resign the key guys that will be getting increases at seasons end and possibly get Kovalev signed of course we'd have to increase payroll slightly. But if guys like Perreault are up i think we could do it becuase a guy like Kovalev is a draw and i'm sure theres going to be a sellout now pretty much guarenteed for the remainder of the games and if we can get to the 3rd round we can break even. Now just to see what happens with hockey next year. Please re-sign Kovalev for atleast 1 more year and please be hockey next year.

HOLY SHIT MAN. I LOVE THIS. And puck knows how much i love Balej too. I don't even care if this is a rental player we finally moved a prospect for a star. And remember we have a ton of prospects and these people that keep saying bringing in new guys we have tons and tons of new guys. Our team is probably going to be one of the youngest going into the playoffs half of our top players are under 30 and the other half under 25.

Oh baby what a win after all that bs hooking, tripping, interference on every single play by the devils it had gotten sick by the end of the game. This is a huge win because we just beat the goaltender we probably have the most trouble with in Montreal.

the main reason i didn't post anything about Brisebois or Markov is becuase i'm confident they will get the job done come playoff time and i have been impressed with both of their games lately especially since Souray went down Markov has been huge. Souray, Quintal, Brisebois, Markov not necessarily in that order i see as our top 4 defensemen then we have guys like bouillon, rivet, komisarek who at this moment are 6th-7th defensemen who i wouldn't have that much confidence in come playoff time. Thats why i'd like to get a vet that can fill atleast that 5th spot in the lineup. I don't want a gonchar type i want a defensive minded defensemen whose been in the playoffs before and has had some success there. Also i'd be nice if he can log big minutes if needed saying that someone like the top 4 who should log 20+ minutes each goes down with an injury. There are a ton of names that can fill these roles that should be available Hill stands out perfectly for that role but another guy i like is Odelein becuase i think he'd be the cheapest out of the available guys probably has more playoff experience them most guys too. He's a 5-6th defensemen that can log decent minutes not on a consistent basis but when needed. He plays a gritty type of game which we need and he's willing to protect the players when needed. He's definitly somoene i'd have more confidence in over Rivet/bouillon/dykhuis/komisarek. I'm sure there are plenty of guys that are available that are better but for some reason i just don't see this team going the extra distance to make that big trade. I see them only making minor moves if anything i wouldn't be to surprised to see them stand pat come trade deadline. Thats why i'm hoping for some sort of minor move for a 5th defensemen. A faceoff specialist can't hurt thats defensively responsible. Basically you tell me right now that the habs go out and only get Eastwood and Odelein then i'm happy as all hell. Anything bigger and i'd throw a party.

For this playoff run and in order for us to go deeper into the playoffs we are going to need to trade for another defensemen. I for one don' t trust Komisarek just yet for playoff play and I don't wanna see Dykhuis in their either. Then throw in that Souray is coming off injury and both he and Quintal play a fairly physical brand of hockey which could easily knock them out for a game or two or throw them in the box for a while. A few others are also injury prone so it's always better to play it safe then sorry come playoff time. I definitly do not want to place my hopes on Rivet, Bouillon, Komisarek, or Dykhuis when it comes playoff time. I mean bouillons played decent as of late and for much of the season but he's never seen the playoffs he's a small defensemen that bounces off a lot of players and gets crushed a lot. He does lay out an occasional big hit and does make some good plays with his stick blocking passes but I see him laying on the ice more then Koivu. I'm not saying the habs have to go out and trade for a superstar defensemen I just wanna see them go after a Vet who can log decent icetime and play good defensively. If anything i wouldn't mind dressing 7 defensemen. I'd like to see an Odelein or a salei come over here and play. It'd be awesome though if we got a player like Witt or Gautheir their players who could be on this team for a few years.
