I can't imagine that Kariya will get more than what he was making, i think he will probably end up with about 6-8 million a year. No one is going to pay him 10 million, especially with his recent numbers in the past few years, he has been anything but an elite scorer recently.

Yeah the Oilers werent going to offer a contract to Markanen so they might aswell trade his rights. I really hope this loophole is straightened out in the new CBA, i know its not a priority but its stupid the way things are going right now. I hate all these deals where teams get second rounders as compensation, like the Fleury and Cujo deals of last year.

I was at the game at Skydome today. Tomo Ohka had a no-hitter going into the 7th, but Delgado broke it up. Expos dominated with a 10-2 victory though, Pearson Cup ended up tied 3-3. It was pretty lame how they presented the Pearson Cup to both of the teams after the game lol.

Sadly all those players won't be in it because they have never played an NHL game. At least Komisarek, Hainsey, Ward will all be added.

The Score jumped the gun on this one, they had reported that all that needed to be worked out was financial issues. Turns out they werent even talking about a trade!

thats the exact deal, pending financial stuff. The Score is reporting this but i havent found anything about it on the web.

He hasnt officially declined it. Rafael Palmeiro said that Juan is open to all options. It doesn't look good though, at least this shows that Minaya will probably make some sort of deal to improve the team.

He should definetely stay retired because as you said he is a Winner. Roy, as good as his career was, will go out as a first round loser. Wouldn't his retirement have been that much better if he went out on top of the league? Granted Roy hasn't hung on as much as other athletes have in the past (Messier, Emmitt Smith etc.)

NHL.com sucks so much i dont even bother with it. They shoudl take examples from the other major sports because they all have good detailed websites with great articles. NHL.com is a joke.

His first game in a new offense, i think you need to give him a bit more time to tell whether he is in fact "done" It will be pretty interesting to see how he does though. Couldn't have asked for a better start from the Als this season, Calvillo has been on fire the last game and a half.

wow i didn't expect we would be in the running for any big improvements this off season. I hope your theory is correct I got it, we trade up for Florida's 1st overall pick. then trade it for Demitra But how do we get Florida's 1st overall pick, i have no idea. I'm sure we give up our 10th and then a top prospect, but do we really want to give up that much to get it? I don't know. It will be very interesting tomorrow though...too bad i can't watch it.

Wow what a finish. Very risky move by Barker to go for it there, I'm sure he will be hearing about it in the papers for a while. I love the way our Offense played in the 2nd half. Would have been nice to finish off a couple more drives and not have to rely on our kicking game so much. I don't know what's up with our O-line, that was terrible. What was the final tally, 8 or 9 sacks? I don't want to see a performance like that by them again. Edmonton will be tough but we may be able to pull one off if we get off to a stronger start. I never felt as though the Als were out of it despite the terrible first half, but we were very close to being toast. Overall a good game by the defense and a good half by the offense with bad special teams (because of the big returns)

On the Als Site it says that the first game is only on RDS, but on TSN.ca it says it is on TSN also. Phew, i thought i was going to miss the opener. It's going to be tough to beat the Eskimos with only a Tuesday to Saturday break though.

The weekly picking wouldn't be too tough to do, we could just do it on here. the player drafting would be extremely hard to do though, i don't see it happening. Picking the teams should be pretty fun though. Is it possible to do something like that with that software you used for the NHL playoffs puck?
