  1. Never really heard of Streit, but hopefully he does well. As far as Swiss league stats go, don't forget Oleg Petrov led that league in scoring a few times.
  2. Glad Markov is back in the fold and not staying in Russia. Kudos to BG for getting him to play in Montreal for a decent salary!
  3. Hossa was signed a while back, Aug 15th. Same day as Koivu, so maybe that's why you didn't remember it. http://www.canadiens.com/eng/news/redirect...wsItemID=4304:)
  4. It'd be sweet if they did high altitude camp (I know not this year) but in the coming years. When they had it at Vail a few years ago, I went and snapped some pictures, met most of the players. Being out of the spotlight of Montreal had a lot of the players really relaxed. I think puck even saw me on TV while RDS (or TSN) was interviewing new draft pick Mike Komisarek.
  5. It's not a trade. The team currently owning the rights to the player has the opportunity to match the offer to a restricted free agent, or accept the draft picks (as outlined, not negotiable) as compensation.
  6. Yes, Koivu was injured to start the '03 season.
  7. Hopefully Hossa's year in Europe did wonders for his confidence. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  8. Hehe...found an old game log from a game that I wrote a summary for HW. Here were the lines for the game against the Pens (I'm too lazy to try and figure out the date, October '03): Bulis-Juneau-Dackell Hossa-Ribeiro-Zednik Ryder-Perreault-Audette Sundstrom-Begin-Ward I definitely think the Habs lineup has improved since then! PS: Habs won 4-1, Ward, Zednik, Ribs, and Markov were the Habs goal scorers. Lemieux had his 67th career pt against the Habs with an assist on Straka's PP goal.
  9. The Lindros lover appears! How's it going? Glad to see you around again. Maybe I'll draft and trade him to you in SK4! Hehe.
  10. This is an age old question that applies to every job, not just sports where salaries tend to be public domain. I know at my job, I do the same thing as the 20 other people, and we all make different amounts of money. I know $400k to $3.5M is a huge difference, but I think players, while there will be some resentment, realize that a fact of life is in any career field, people will not make the same amount of money.
  11. Uh, Begin isn't around to babysit anyone in Hamilton.
  12. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I wouldn't want to add Stumpel either, to be honest. Just was mentioning that those other three are all wingers.
  13. Considering neither of the three mentioned players are Cs, which Stumpel is, I don't see how acquiring Stumpel would prevent them from playing. Sure Hossa has been a center, but the Habs have put him on the wing. As much as I've defended Dags in the past, I'm still not thrilled with him as a 2nd line player.
  14. Hamrlik is a UFA, so he'd just have to sign him.

  16. So a couple of splashes today for the Habs. Kinda cool that they're finally in the news! Hehe. Go Gainey!
  17. The Habs biggest needs (IMO) are both a winger and a solid dman. I'm not as trigger happy as some folks, but I would like to see something happen with the Habs at some point. Dandy (who was rumored a couple of years ago as well) and Vandermeer just aren't tickling my twine.
  18. Yup, just saw the Lebeau and typed without thinkin'. D'oh!
  19. Haha...go ol' RedLight was an '89 draftee. I have fond memories of Lebeau as well...good ol' #47, liked the guy. 1989 13 R Lindsay Vallis 30 D Patrice Brisebois 41 C Steve Larouche 51 7 Pierre Sevigny 83 G Andre Racicot 104 Marc Deschamps 146 C Craig Ferguson 167 L Patrick Lebeau 188 D Roy Mitchell 209 D Ed Henrich 230 R Justin Duberman 251 C Steve Cadieux
  20. I'm pleased with the Bonk acquisition. I was excited when the Habs traded for him so that they'd finally have a decent size center! I'm excited to see him play.
  21. Actually, Vrbata had the GWG (a rare OT PP goal). Quintal, and if y'all can remember, Randy McKay had the other fight and the Habs were terribly outshot. But damn, that was a fun game to be at!!
  22. Yes! Jan 11th, I know for a fact where I'll be! Last time the Habs played here, it ended 7-6 in OT, with a couple of fights in the game too! I kept getting heckled because I was there with my huge Habs flag that I waved around everytime the Habs scored. Hehe...what a fun night that was, except for the fact that Montreal lost the game. I can't wait! Woohoo!!!
  23. The Habs passed on Brisebois' option year, as well as Gavin Morgan. I still think his contract was one of the worst doled out by Savard and Co. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=131399 [Edited on 2005-7-26 by puck7x]
