I want them losing in 4 straight.
Watching the national talking heads calling for heads to roll makes for great entertainment.

I want nothing more than the leafs to die in the most gruesome way possible.
However, Tampa seems to be ready to be taken down.
That being said, they are a well marinated team.
And teams like that seem to be able to dial it up 3 notches when it counts.
Fingers crossed.

Phew
Now pray the balls work in our favor.

Yes, indeed. I recall hearing things along these lines at the street level in Montreal from guys connected to the Montreal Portuguese community back in the day. I didn’t make too much of it at the time, since there are always rumours of various sorts around local celebrities; but certainly it’s of a piece with the “behavioural” question marks that have always followed Ribs around. Yuck.
Ran into him plenty of times at Gallery on st-Laurent in his prime. Usually on Sunday nights.
He was a hot mess then and a hot mess he remains.
Cocky, arrogant and entitled.

One of MB’s basic flaws as a manager was to run his show as a private mafia where what mattered above all was loyalty to him. Thus, he kept that blithering jackanapse Lefebvre in place for five years (!!) despite his proven incompetence - God knows what damage ensued to our player development- and hired that dimwit Therrien and then held on to him long past his best-by date. He also allowed personal animus to contaminate player decisions (Subban) and erred in the other direction as well, seemingly being only too happy to embrace crushing contracts for ‘his’ players in Price, Weber, and Gally.
Crapping all over the heads of Habs alumni - the greatest alumni in the game - is consistent with this power-maximizing mafioso attitude to leadership. It had to be His Show and damn the consequences. No other voices, no other variables allowed.
if I had a dollar every time Cuccumber made me google a word I’d be rich.- 1

Better than Cale Makar
Better than Quinn Hughes
Better than Owen Power
Better offensively than literally any defenceman who played junior, College or europe for 1 season after their draft
Arousing stuff 😍 -

Habs looked lost on that Vegas goal and we are running around a lot in the Dzone.
Loss incoming 🎉
Wouldn’t have it any other way.
May they lose out the rest of the season.

Well, the truth is, the Habs have not been up to snuff. Think back to the Patches/Subban days (2012-2015), the rivalry was pretty intense. It was also super intense during the Gainey rebuild, tipping decisively in Boston's favour when Lucic smashed Komisarek's face. Any time Montreal and Boston are anywhere near competitive with each other, the greatest rivalry in the game renews itself.
Montreal-Toronto has been an artificial rivalry for decades now, mostly fueled by media bullcrap and our universal and entirely justified loathing of the Toronto hype machine. In 2021 we did catch a glimpse of the real thing - the playoff round - but because the core players from that run all went away the following year, there was no chance for a bona-fide rivalry to take seed and grow from there.
I have major respect for Boston as a great, historic opponent over the years. Don't get me wrong, being beaten by them makes me want to puke, but I respect them.
Toronto, I have no respect for whatsoever. I mean, I respect the formidable talent on that squad - but I have no respect at all for the organization or the media and fan ecosystem around it. No amount of suffering and humiliation is too good for them. I just wish we were in a position to mete it out. But as long as it's meted out - year after year, for all eternity - then I'm happy.
As someone who now lives in Connecticut i couldn’t agree any more.

Dreger tweeting there is smoke with Edmonton regarding Edmunston.
Very very curious to see what Hughes can pull out of his rabbit hat.

I don't think he's going to leave this year. But I guess its possible.
Hughes is well connected in the US hockey system.
Born in Montreal. Wonder if his family is still based there.
If QU makes a run in the frozen four I can see him bailing IMO.

I see them going after one of the two buffalo college kids.... Levi or Portillo
Would be a little more advanced than an 18 year old.
I figure they also will use at least one pick on a goalie. I'd do that every year, draft a goalie in the late rounds (doesn't have to be a 2nd like suggested, that seems too high) and just see what happen.s
Any chance they sign Yaniv Perets?

Good grief 14 shots - 4 goals.

I think a rank with a letter grade might be more accurate. None were good. A couple were adequate.
1. Gainey. C+ Drafted the only hall of famer the team has seen in 3 decades.
2. MB. C. Good at trades. Bad at managing.
3. Savard. C-
4. Goat D.
5 Houle F. Seems like a nice guy. Just incompetent. Trade the Mario or arguably Gretzky of goaltenders. Complete idiocy. I still have ptsd from that night. Remember exactly what I was doing. It's a traumatic core memory. Haha.
PTSD is right.
I was in between classes at Concordia.
Had a habit of hanging out at Publimag or whatever that magazine shop was called that was on the corner of deMaisonneuve and Guy.
They announced the breaking news on the radio.
I remember trying to justify the value and potential of Jocelyn.
Talk about a core memory.

Anyone watching this junk???
It might be the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed.

Since US lottery winings are taxable, the Powerball cash value is about $275M Monday ... expect 20% of the Montreal Canadiens, Evenko, Bell Centre and L'Équipe Spectra is worth closer to $350M+.
At an LTV sub 50% I’ll hit up my neighborhood credit union for the balance 😉

Great story! I went through the same feeling watching it on TV as a university student. With all the OT wins and the pens being knocked out, I thought no way we can lose looked like lose. We were on the seven year max cycle without a cup. Than in game 2, it seemed like it was lights out. Couldn’t believe the come back! Miss the forum. It’s been downhill since the move!
Fun fact.
I was studying at Concordia from 94 to 98.
There was this girl I had messed around with (that really liked me) who’s father had season tickets.
She called me and asked if I wanted to go to the game against the Stars.
I was dying to.
But turned her down because I knew I’d get myself into a massive mess I wanted no part of.

I was in the Forum for Game 2 of the Finals in 1993. Standing room. We were down 2-1 for much of the 2nd and 3rd period, already down 0-1 in the series and facing the bleak possibility of flying to LA down 0-2. We were generating nothing. I remember being struck by the realization that, even though we were the Montreal Canadiens, the script might not come true…we might actually lose this Cup, the one Cup of my adult life. Midway through the third, with the arena dead silent and the French guy next to me slumped in drunken despair, I yelled out, “where are the ghosts?? Rocket Richard?? Howie Morenz?? Guy Lalfeur?? WHERE ARE THE GHOSTS??”
Then the McSorley illegal stick got called with two minutes left, and in an unbelievably ballsy bit of coaching Demers pulled Roy for a two-man advantage. Eric Desjardins scored to tie it up on that blast that shook the world, the entire place went insane: the French guy shrieking and hugging me, lunatics running up and down the aisle, beer flying everywhere - never had so many had such a radical mood swing from complete despair to total ecstasy in so short a time.
Amidst the bedlam, my buddy tapped me on the shoulder and said: “there’s your ghosts.” 😉
I are quickly approaching 20 yrs on this site.
At that time I was single, living in Greece.
Today i'm married, have 3 kids (one 3 yrs away from College) and live in the land of the Brass Bonanza.
What am I getting to?
After alllll these years, I NEVER get tired of Cuccumber reliving that epic game 2.
Thank you my friend.
