I’m sorry you got to see such a stink-o game, Helmethead. Just a bad draw - two teams that didn’t seem very interested in each other and the Habs on a truly lacklustre night. 😕

Should’ve paid the 50% premium and gone to todays game instead!!

definitely wasn’t gonna go back to back with a team that’s been as lackluster as ours (especially with 3 kids!)

The drive in and out of Elmont Park sucks.

  2. Here’s my take after watching the game in person.

    We suck.

Zero sustained pressure at any point during the game.

Slaf reminds me of Tom Hanks in Big.  A child in a man’s body. He will get there but he legit looks lost for now.

We are as good as our first line is. If it isn’t producing, we are toast.

Caulfield is a lot shiftier than I thought.

Monty is larger than I thought and kept this game from getting out of reach.

Evans was a lot more involved than you usually get to see on TV. Easily our most involved player in the 1st period.

D wise, Savard and Edmunston were ok. Xhekaj and Harris were not a liability. Barron player better than expected and I think I noticed Wideman twice.

Wifi is sometimes dismissed by the advanced stats folks, but I dunno - I see a guy who could end up as a Kevin Bieksa-ish type, an under-the-radar prospect who ends up as a quality #4-5 for a lot of years. He just seems to have the mental resilience and the varied toolkit to be more than (say) the Igor Ulanov 2.0 that I originally cast him as. Interesting that he keeps chugging away while the much more highly-touted Harris has now cratered.

I haven’t missed a game yet this year and I can safely say that the Team has been much better with him in the lineup thank without.

He will end up being a top #4 D within the next two seasons.

  4. Nick Suzuki.

    Just wow.

    Flabbergasted.

The composure to thread the puck through with 3 seconds left.

To tap DeAngelo’s pads after the goal.

Then the speed of his hands in tight during the shootout.

    I’ve said it before.

Sorry Cuccumber, I respect you tremendously but I’ve been watching this team religiously since 1984 and I watched Koivu through his magical run pre injury.  Suzuki is the best position player this team has had since Lafleur.

Unquestionably our best young FW since Koivu came up - that’s for sure.

Games like this make me glad I’m a hockey fan. Just tremendous entertainment, and the deserving team won.

His most impressive play during the game was in OT.

Watch how he breaks out from behind Allen and how he out-positions Crosby.  He made him look silly.
