For unrestricted free agents signing overseas, their new country is indicated by a 3-letter initial. The following are country (and other) initials:

RUS-Russia, SWE-Sweden, FIN-Finland, SUI-Switzerland, GER-Germany, ENG-England, CZE-Czech Republic, SLO-Slovakia, , LAT-Latvia, OVS-overseas (I will use this if I can't find a confirmation of where the player is going to, or is coming from.), RET-retired, CHL-Central Hockey League, UHL-United Hockey League, AHL-American Hockey League (means minor league deal), MNR-minor league, *-Tryout contract, ECHL-East Coast Hockey League

A complete list of players signing overseas can be found by clicking here.

Like before, I will update this list throughout the summer. If you know of any errors, please let me know through a U2U. (I want to keep this message by itself if that's possible-it makes it easier to read.

(Edit done at 8:37 PM EST on June 30. The only reason I say this is because the edit shows at July 1st right now)

Dont worry dlbalr , I will edit it myself so I am listed as the last edit.

    [Edited on 2003-7-1 by puck7x]

  6. ARGH! Another deadline that I messed up. Why does the NHL have to make their deadlines exactly one month apart from each other? Its very confusing...

It's not confusing because the dates are exactly one month after the other. You know that the 1st of the months (June/July) are "free agency dates". You're just having an off-day I guess. :)

  7. BTW : I think the numbers that were given in the article are the numbers of the offer needed to qualify the player (Kilger is listed at 1.4)

That may be true for most of them, but Koivu's contract at $3.3 mil is accurate based on last year's figures. It would take 3.63 mil to qualify Koivu.

  8. He isnt signed , he isnt our property after July 1st (if we dont sign him)...

Technically, he isn't our property now, as he became a free agent June 1st, and was free to sign with any other team (just like Kiel McLeod). The fact that he's with the team tells me that the two parties may have agreed to let him go for now and sign him at a later date (in order to concentrate on signing other guys like Archer/Milroy).

  9. According to my salary sheet from THN, it would take 1.24 mil to qualify Kilger, $1,127,360 was what he made last season. Also, the CBA requires a 10% increase for a qualifying offer, not 15%.

I say qualify Kilger at 1.24 mil, he's not that bad sometimes and he'd be a quality "sub" if someone were to be injured long-term rather than calling someone up from Hamilton.

(I've read the same article you have puck, and the majority of the players' salaries are incorrect-Markov, Kilger, Ribeiro and perhaps Dwyer-I can't find what he makes. The only accurate one seems to be Koivu.)

  10. An interesting player on this list is D-man Matt Shasby. Last time I checked, we didn't sign him, thus making him a UFA. Obviously, we have signed him, or we're intending to sign him, which is good news IMO.

I really like the fact we invited Adam Paiement. I've seen this player in the past, and I really liked him, he is a big-gamer, as his playoff totals show. Hopefully we'll sign him to a contract, although I doubt we will since seldomly do we ever sign any invitees from this camp.

  11. I received your entry puck, you're good to go. I'm not too surprised by your entry, mine is similar in that not many moves are made, the team should focus long-term instead of short-term which it likely will.

  12. According to TSN.ca, it'd be Tatis going the other way + something else. I can't see it being a pitcher, as that's the one thing we need most. The last thing the 'Spos need is a rotation of Vazquez, L.Hernandez, Vargas, Kim, ____ (Drew, Reames, or someone else.)

Gonzalez can reject the trade also, so it may not happen.

(Habs77, is my baseball thread really that boring? :) There is Expo stuff merged into there as well, although I'm not quite sure why...)

  13. Well, I was hoping to wait until we won another league game before posting again in this thread, however, I'm beginning to feel this may not happen, so I'm posting now. We've lost our last 4 games by a combined score of (26-8).

Our record in the previously mentionned tournament was 1-2, finishing 6th overall out of 9, but winning no money. :(

This coming weekend, we're in yet another tournament, the national qualification tournament for players aged 16/17. It's a 21 team tourney, and the top 2 make the nationals. Our first game is Friday afternoon vs Grafton at 3:00 PM, so I won't be around for a few days starting then. (if we lose, I'll be back on Saturday, so you never know.)

Click here for the full tournament schedule.

  14. Signed RFA's: Koivu: $5 mil, Markov: $2.25 mil, Ribeiro: $900,000, Kilger: $1.25 mil, Dwyer: $600,000.

    Trades/Moves made:

[*]Andreas Dackell to Minnesota for a 6th round pick

[*]Mike Ribeiro and the rights to Viktor Ujcik to EDM for Steve Staios and Raffi Torres

[*]Joe Juneau, Sylvain Blouin and a 5th round draft pick to NYI for Dave Scatchard and Oleg Kvasha

[*]Karl Dykhuis to CBJ for a 4th round draft pick

[*]Mariusz Czerkawski + cash ($1.3 mil) to CGY for future considerations

[*]Sign UFA Michal Grosek (BOS) to a 1-year, $700,000 contract

      [/list=1]

      Forwards:

      Zednik-Koivu-Audette (1.7+5+3 mil = 9.7 mil)

      Hossa-Perreault-Ward (1.075+2.8+.75 mil = 4.625 mil)

      Bulis-Scatchard-McKay (1+1.3+2.125 mil = 4.425 mil)

      Kvasha-Kilger-Sundstrom (.75+1.25+1.8 mil = 3.8 mil)

      SPARE: Grosek (0.7 mil)

      TOTAL FORWARDS: 23.25 mil

      Defence:

      Markov-Rivet (2.25 + 1.5 mil = 3.75 mil)

      Staios-Quintal (.9 + 2.15 mil = 3.05 mil)

      Souray-Brisebois (1.1 + 4 mil = 5.1 mil)

      SPARE: Komisarek (1.13 mil)

      TOTAL DEFENCE: 13.03 mil

      Goalies:

      Theodore (5 mil)

      Garon (.907,500)

      TOTAL GOALIES: 5.0975 mil

      TEAM TOTAL: 41.3775 mil

Remember, all salary figures are from the 2002/2003 season unless the player(s) was/were on the Habs roster at the end of the season and is/was an RFA.

      Hope this helps everyone!

  15. I've been extremely busy lately (the draft, exams, regular season baseball, baseball tournaments as well as working off community service hours (government curriculum mandate) ) so I haven't had much time to work on one. Now that the draft has come and gone, I will get working on it and have one up as soon as possible, so any suggestions will have to be made in the next couple of days. (I'm hoping to have one up on Tuesday.)

(Also puck, if you're looking for a sample trade, I put one in the original message, which may help you out a little bit.)

Passage of Bykov from Detroit into Kazan?pleasant unexpected contingency, indeed it is rare when hockey player in the bloom of forces, after conducting outstanding season in the strongest overseas league, returns to Russia. 26- summer Bykov left in NKHL year ago after the appearance on the championship of peace/world in Sweden, where the team of Russia occupied the second place.Defender, who always preferred to play in his gates, on that world superiority unexpectedly presented himself as the bombardier, after throwing three washers, moreover tournament did not play because of the injury. The bosses of "Detroit" then without the doubts invited Bykov into the summer training camp, on sums of which Dmitriy obtained place in the basic composition (but indeed it it was selected on glass rod 2001 of year only under 258- m with number). As a result in the regular championship NKHL of rossiyanin it conducted 71 matches, threw two washers and made 10 successful transfers.

If anyone's wondering, this section is directly below the part that says detroitredwings.com, which not surprisingly, is the only part I actually understood in that article. :)

  17. There's myself, puck & you.. that's it.

I too am a CFL fan, particularly of the Als. Sadly, I hardly get a chance to see them on TV, as I don't get RDS. Thus, I don't know a whole lot about them, so I don't post about them.
