  1. How bad does this team need to play before they make real lineup changes?

Running those same d again is ludicrous.   Time to send some messages with press box tickets and play some AHLers, may at least see some pride on the ice.   Players have been stinking the place up, coaches don’t seem to be doing much about it.
Saw another poster mention they are fed up

seeing  Ducharme behind the bench looking confused. He has not been good at all, no adaptation, no accountability and no answers.  The more I see of him, the more I am convinced last years playoff run was result of players (Weber and Price it seems) motivation and nothing to do with coaching, supported by fact DD inherited team late in year and missed 1/4 of playoff and team was coached by assistant to boot.

I like how you avoided my question - would you take an equivalent package of Dvorak and Romanov from another team for Caufield?  Even if you're saying there are other pieces involved (which there also were in the actual trade), quantity doesn't equal quality.  I know that's the hallmark of your proposals (three or four lesser pieces for one good one) but I know I wouldn't; your proposal is for them to do exactly that though.

Krebs isn't a sure thing but neither is Caufield.  They were picked two picks apart in the draft.  Their standalone trade value is pretty much identical; it probably won't change for another year or so unless one really gets established as an impact NHL'er this season.

The deal's done, Eichel isn't coming to the Habs and the Habs weren't permitting his desired surgery.  No point in trying to fabricate a scenario to blame Bergevin down the road for a deal that wasn't happening for a return that's worse for Buffalo than what they actually received.

Well said, so many posts expecting teams to take multiple, minimal impact players in exchange for an elite player.

personally, don’t think Eichel is worth the hype and is never going to be a real difference maker, think he ends up a Ryan Johansen in Nashville (decent player but never met the level expected).

Well, they completely misinterpreted what was posted in the article that they're claiming is the source.  Here's the actual quote from The Athletic:

A handful executives think Montreal could be a landing spot for Korpisalo.  It doesn't say anything about them actually having interest or even that they're considering him, it's all hypothetical.

    good clarification.

I struggle to see the logic of Mtl being a possible destination, given Allen has another full season after this and obv Price’s contract isn’t just disappearing…

    Dvorak 52.7%

    Perreault 51.0%

    Evans 47.8%

    Suzuki 46.3%

    Paquette 24.1% (!)

So, the issue is Suzuki as he and Dvorak are going to take 99% of key draws. Dvorak is coming as advertised and performing in this area. If Suzuki improves to 50% they are decent overall. Evans, Pacquette, Perrault will only take non essential draws for most part, change on fly after another C takes draw.

    off the board idea:

I’ve noticed Anderson do well on a handful of draws over past two season-he’s fast, big body and I wonder how he’d do as a centreman if given time/direction.  Would ease up logjam of wingers, give Habs first big centre who can move in a long time, excluding Bambi KK.

I hope KK sucks arse for the rest of his career.

As for Danault, his offensive production was already on the wane. I'm sure he will find his game as an effective checking C, but if last year's disastrous regular season is any indication, he doesn't deal with uncertainty or instability well. Maybe he just needs to adapt. But I doubt that there was a "compromise" to be had. He wanted a big payday. Wisely, the GM declined to pay a guy who produced at a 32-point pace $5.5 for another 6 years. The unfortunate thing is that we didn't have anyone ready to step up and replace him in eating those hard minutes. The hope that KK would do it was both highly optimistic, and ruined by Carolina's offer sheet.

Good point, Danault did get paid a premium.
Apparently winning over half of your face offs can get you an extra 2-3 mill/year haha.
He seems to be trending upwards with Kings again now. Looks like he will get his 30 points and enjoy the beach.

Flames have won 6 in a row, didnt think they would do much this year.

I saw this season as either successful Sutter  hockey buy in and highly competitive team or a tire fire of mutiny.

Have been fortunate to see a lot of their games (on tv) and they are not just winning but playing well to get those wins.
Obv Markstrom is on fire too, but the team is playing as tight unit of five with support all over this over.  They play up tempo and aggressive, but smart forecheck in all tho tee zones, always one forward above the puck in ozone.
It is close to what Habs do when effective and think it’s what Ducharme wants (based on commentary/interviews), not being executed though.

Flames are fun to watch and I am not a fan of the team per say.

  7. Looked up a couple former Habs to see how they’re doing.

Aside from a goal in first game of season Danault has no other points, is a minus player, and his ice time has dropped significantly from 19/20 min to 15 min/game and has occurred with a steady, yet consistent downward trend. He averages less than a shot per game and zero hits/blocks.

KK is still hovering around 12 min/game and while listed as playing top 6 and PP his ice time does not support that, he is getting bottom six minutes while his “line mates” play 17-20 min/game and they do not penalty kill as is same for him.

Obv he is not playing centre as well.

Gotta wonder if both of them may end up regretting the decision to forego their respectively secure, promising positions with the Habs.

I see why KK took the dough that was offered, but given what Danualt ended up signing for I kind of think there could have been a compromise to be found to keep him around.  He won’t be staying in top 6 in LA for long, will be in same boat as Mtl where younger players surpass him.

Didn’t think I’d miss him this much haha.

I think Gally's contract will be difficult to move. Hard to say what is going on with Price, certainly there would have been less pressure for him playing in Seattle, might have been a nice way for him to finish his career.  Can be hard on a family to play in a fish bowl.  As bad as the Habs may be this year there is no way they will finish below Arizona.  This looks like one of those years where Habs fans will just have to endure. Anything but the 11th worst record!!

Regarding Gally, couldn’t help but notice he is back to being hunched over at every whistle, seemed to be struggling to get off the ice for most changes, didn’t have the gas to use speed at all going wide, rarely see his famous wrister from this strong wing that got him over 200 shots per season, cause he hasn’t got the half step on the d for some reason. Usually b/c of bad passing so no speed to begin with but also wonder if he is dealing with injuries, age, nagging issue…?  Worrisome indeed.

seems like I'll be wearing the KK avatar for another week, until they win again

NP, wish it was bette to report.
Caufield’s plays at least reminded me of some positives, especially liked his complete on boards in dzone against much bigger players.

Chiarot looked good actually, thought he played well vs wings too.

    Petry not so much.

I recorded game, ignored all news, stats and watched game early this a.m skipping over all non play action. Best way to watch.

    Suzuki - 2 points in 7 games

    Gallagher - 1 point in 7 games

    Anderson - 1 point in 7 games

    Caufield - 1 point in 7 games

    Petry - 0 points in 7 games (!)

Dvorak has 3 points in 7, which is positively stellar production on this bunch.

    Completely ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Drouin is doing great. Dollars to doughnuts his production will evaporate when one or more of the above starts to produce. It’s gonna be that kind of season.

Too add, we have an overpaid fourth line/partial third line wingers who have yet to show a reason that they justify that.

Lehks and Armia were supposed to be an asset to exploit other teams supposedly weaker fourth lines/shut down opposing top six. Haven’t seen much of that.

Drouin had his worst game vs Seattle , some bad turnovers/passes, was largely invisible.

his pass to Niku , that Niku has to take in skates was the cause for that turnover which lead directly to goal is one example.  He needs to make that basic pass to find a trailing dman in stride.

    Glad I skipped this game.

was Kulak still playing on his off-side? And how much was his poor performance attributed to playing with Niku? ( he played better with Petry)

    How did Perreault look?

    Was Caufield better?

Was Suzuki a factor in the game?

Kulak stunk it up on his own, although Niku struggled as well. The only dman who looked decent was Chiarot.
Perreault was invisible, was centering 17/92 in third period.

Caufield made a couple sound dzone plays to ensure there was a clear, had a couple decent scoring ops but was also invisible for stretches.

Suzuki showed a couple offensive flashes but was not strong overall, there were very few moments to praise by anyone.

Same old Problems of poor passing overall, ineffective forechecks, at least three goals were the direct result of a turnover. Where we had clear possession, made a relatively unforced error/bad pass (often behind target) and then the puck was in our net thirty seconds later.

Allen wasn’t good, but wasn’t bad. Needed him to bail team out on two goals that would have been huge, game breaking saves but…. Can’t really blame him on not given the breakdowns in front of him.

  12. Happy for the win, nice for the crowd to get to cheer and obv nice for the players to break the funk… but, they did not play well. Both teams were turnover machines, the Habs would have lost that gas me to most teams.

They still rarely made more than one good pass in a row, barely made some entries and defensive coverage was mediocre.
The team did seem due for some good luck so that is great but they did not play well enough to win most games.

On back end Petry continues to fight the puck and make questionable decisions/poor passes.

Chiarot played best game of season for himself so far, made some decent break out passes.

Romanov continues to look lost, often out of position. Savard was mediocre at best.

Kulak and Nicky did not loom as scary as suspected and Niku at least showed some skills with the puck and made better passes than we are used to, Kulak made a couple smart rushes and didn’t look too out of place.
Seems to me last night the d did better at getting puck to forwards but only half the passes were successful (either due to poor pass or forward bungling it) but the consistent problem is poor passes/decision amongst the forwards going through neutral

zone and entering offensive zone, terrible puck management and decision making. The dump and chase comes from these issues and it rarely generates offensive possession just contested pucks.
Happy for the win but it was still and ugly game and hard to watch.

hits the nail on the head. No dman has looked good this season so far.   Nor any forwards for that matter (minus a few blips).   It’s been tough to watch.

Gallagher has looked very ineffectual, Toffolli looks slow and small, Suzuki/Caufield both look overmatched/overwhelmed, nobody can finish a play and they can barely get a shot off from distance let alone get dangerous chances.
Dvorak’s line has not been a let down but also hasn’t generated results of any significance so hard to get excited about them either.

It’s been tough to even watch, yet I continue to.

Me thinks the #1 line is

    Drouin-Dvorak-Anderson

    so, I’d try:

Caufield-Suzuki-Armia (try to get Caufield chances coming from off wing, Armia retrieves/cause turnovers).

    Hoffman-Brooks-Gallagher

    Lehks-Evans-Perreault

Think they will have tried every possible d combo by end of tonight’s game (#6), but until Petry plays like a top 4 guy, let alone top pair it won’t matter. I can see he and Chiarot doing OK together so maybe this will click.  But that leaves two sketchy pairs below them and most likely trouble all night for all three pairs.

Losing Weber and Eddy is too much to overcome back there, I was hopeful but even after five games think the writing is on the wall. Feel bad for Jake Allen this season, Price isn’t coming back to this gong show this year other than to be able to play for team Canada if that is part of making that team.

Good to hear, cannot explain why I am getting zero answers and poor service times.

Ive been following the instructions they provided.

cannot stand the use of a stupid tracking app that doesn’t actually track either.

Makes me worried I am being ignored because they ####ed up my order.
Like I said, three weeks and not a single reply, valid tracking number.   I’ve reached out three times now since I rec’d email saying order was packaged, shipped, sent tracking info. None of it is legit.

Absolute worst online transaction I have ever been part of ( and have done professional procurement with multi million dollar budgets with global suppliers ).

These ass hats say they cannot even give me a tracking number (the one provided is invalid as per Canada Post), they cannot tell me

where my order is and have offered zero help, compensation.

I have been defrauded and now have to go through my bank to contest the credit charges.

The store says they do not package, ship the goods and cannot find out any info from the “supplier”, yet it is the store that sold me the products, charged me and took my money.

I will not be spending another penny on Lions, Rocket or Habs ever again given the complete lack of organization, respect and common sales practices being implemented by the scam.  The worst customer service, online store I have ever come across.

They told me to contact Canada Post for help, even though as per Canada Post there is no shipment, never was and the shipping Info provided is fake.

And yet the Lions seem to believe they can waive all responsibility for this fiasco now that they have my money.

    #### you Lions, go to hell you piece of shit organization.

This is the response when I tell them the tracking info is invalid and Canada Post has already told me so:

I talked to my team about your tracking number and unfortunately, the tracking number is not directly handled by the Lions, but by Canada Post. I invite you to contact Canada Post about your tracking infos.

Meanwhile the tracking info came from vender and aside from an order number and my address I have nothing to offer Canada Post who insist the tracking number is not legit.  Charges went through same day as purchase though and has already been paid and gone through my statement.
Cannot stress enough, do not spend money on this garbage organization.

  16. Interesting to me that Sergachev has played in NHL the entire time with TB.   Basically third pairing for two season and then a season of second pairing type minutes and this past season played first pairing minutes.

    No AHL time there.

KK was given every chance in Mtl and is better off gone, he is a cancer.  I don’t think another season in Finland would have changed his mental health (narcissistic, selfish tendencies) that is going to be his downfall.   He will pout his way out of Carolina when he realizes he cannot earn a spot there and gets less than a quarter of the media and Instagram attention than he did in Mtl.  He is a social media douche.

  17. As mentioned by many, I will

be rooting for him and have always enjoyed seeing him play up to his potential (in spurts albeit).

Reinforces (to me) that he will be best served by playing a lower expectation role than being top 6, let him focus on personal goals rather than public pressure of being in a highly visible, high expectation position.   There is no room for error this season and there is no shortage of skilled wingers to shelter him.
Wishing the best for him, but what is best for him and best for the team may not align as they’ve now got another massive contract in the bottom 6.
What type of ongoing support, treatment will there be for him? Is it reasonable to expect him to produce even close to what is expected given he makes $5.5 million/season?
This sounds cold, but professional sports is not forgiving, is results oriented.

Regardless of the reason, if he cannot play and perform to the level required,  it may be best to retire. I do not see how he overcomes this under the microscope of NHL in Mtl and just like a physical injury I do not think it’s appropriate to expect him to come back and play through it, it isn’t like he is “healed”, this will be a life long battle for him.
I think this should qualify for LTIR to give him and the team the time needed to properly heal, assess, regain form.

I doubt he will make it though the season, I hope he does and again hope for the best for him.   As a human, I do not want him to suffer, I hope he rediscovers the joy he refers to.

I do not think repeating the cycle of pressure, travel, expectations of NHL life is conducive to that.

Norlinder is 21 years old with 3 years of playing hockey in Sweden against men.

KK was 18 years old and playing in the NHL just months after his 18th birthday.

Let's stop comparing the two situations, they are not the same.

Norlinder should be judged based on if Norlinder is ready and not on what happened with KK or anyone else.

Norlinder is older today than Romanov was in January when he made the team.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Way too much focus on past players’ trajectories than individual attention to each prospect as required.

They are all unique, need to be treated as such.

  19. Extremely disappointed in the customer service from the Lions online store.

Placed an order three weeks ago, charged immediately (not cheap when they tack the ridiculous shipping charges on there, I live within 12 hours of the area in same country) and now cannot even get a reply from the store, was sent an invalid tracking number that appears to be fake, and obviously no product has arrived.

I cannot stand businesses that sell products online, charge you immediately (credit card bill already paid ffs) and then do not reply to inquiries, do not ship promptly and essentially leave you feeling like you’ve been ripped off.

Do not but this merch unless you are buying in person.

This is brutal customer service, poor shipping/delivery times (particularly given the shipping fees), and a total let down.

This was a small order to confirm quality, sizing prior to placing a large XMas gift order.  That will not be happening now, I will not spend another cent on this scam.
